OOC:This is a total OOC post, and if it is a problem, I'll remove it. The grenade is not a smoke grenade, it is a liquid phosphorous grenade and there is a very big, painful difference.

As Fahl cut away the boot, the subcommander doubled up the strap of her rifle and shoved it between her teeth, biting down to keep from screaming again. She lost consciousness momentarily several times, until the painkiller finally took effect. Controlling her breathing took too much effort.

She reached into her utility vest, noting that her hand was shaking visibly - a sure sign of shock. Grabbing an injector of anti-shock medication, she gave herself a full dose. "Thanks, Major," she managed to say, and waited for the meds to kick in. She'd wrap her leg in an electroplast splint later. At least the makeshift bandage was tight.

na'Tatha rolled over with a groan onto her stomach, shifting her right leg awkwardly. She might be full of painkillers, but it still hurt like blazes. Bringing her rifle into a firing position, she searched for a target.

Sahrai shook his head. "Jedi or not, Viree, you can still fall to the Dark Side. I don't want to have to fight you if that ever happens--I don't like killing friends."

He felt a tremor in the Force and took a step forward, a bullet passing by on level with his shoulders behind him, right where he had been.

"We can't really leave the commandos alone," he said, igniting his lightsaber again, the orange blade mimicking the color of the burning Maedan warriors.

"Daaron--don't let them die like that," he shouted, grimacing at the sight of the burning soldiers.

----

Daaron glanced up as Sahrai's voice came over his comlink. The Jedi was right--people didn't deserve to die that way.

"Got it," he said, sparing a brief glance over his shoulder at na'Tatha. She looked like she would do okay for now, already starting to pick off soldiers.

He began systematically taking out the rest of the soldiers, his commandos following his lead. The Maedan were dead whatever happened, but the commandos could at least make sure that they didn't burn to death.

Ordo was about to tell the Jedi to save the philosophical debate for another time, but Sahrai ended it before he could speak up.

"Daaron--don't let them die like that," Sahrai shouted, grimacing at the sight of the burning soldiers.

Ordo didn't care how the guards died, to die in battle was a Mando tradition and goal, they didn't care how they died. Their greatest fear was to die of old age or natural causes. However, the Jedi didn't want them to die that way, so the Mandalorian began to systematically shoo the burning guards.

"Oh..." his voice trailed off. New information flashed across his HUD, the Maedan guards behind them gave up on trying to hack the doors to get them open and were setting up explosives. "FIERFEK!" Ordo swore vehemently.

Viree13 sighs. "You Jedi never figured it out..... It is the strength of the person that determines the strength of the Force, just as it is the person who is good or evil, the Force is merely the weapon......" She takes a deep breath and starts to step back into the fray, when suddenly the Force jabs at her, right as Ordo swears.....

"Sahrai, the doors.... Something's wrong..... " She turns to look at the doors, which are in the opposite direction of the dying Maedan gaurds, homing in on the activity behind them. "Explosives.... They're gonna blow the doors...."

Lol, Luinnar. Happy Valentines day to you, too.

Sahrai sighed. This fight was getting worse and worse. Still, at least the Maedan metahumans were dead or incapacitated.

"All right, into the turbolifts, everyone," he said, opening the doors. They could just cut a way through the floor, but then the Maedan would be able to drop through the whole, too, and he didn't really want that to happen--it would hardly improve their situation.

And there was still the matter of Viree and her disturbing view of the Force. It was not a weapon--they were. They were the vessels and tools of the Force, not the other way around, as she seemed to see it. He would have to talk to her about that sometime.

-----

Daaron frowned at Sahrai's command. It wasn't that it was a
bad one, it just was a difficult one. He had several wounded men now, who hadn't even had their wounds tended.

"Sahrai, could you give us a hand?" he asked, pointing out the wounded when the Jedi turned around. Suspended on cushions of...nothing, the commandos floated into the turbolifts, while Daaron bent down and lifted na'Tatha to her feet.

"If you have some support, can you walk or hop, sub-commander?" He didn't really think she could, but from his experience, women didn't like being carried around without being asked first. It was best to be cautious.

Ordo kept his blaster trained on the door as he backed towards the turbolift. He turned around and pushed the hatch on the top of the turbolift. "Hey, give me a boost," he said to one of the commandos.

The commando helped him get his head up there. "All clear up here," Ordo called down. The commando let himself down and picked up his blaster, turned, and stood just outside of the turbolift's doors.

New information flashed across his HUD, the men on the other side of the dorr had set their explosives and were preparing to detonate. "Sir, detonation in 15, 14, 13..."

Viree13 senses Sahrai's disturbed feelings and sighs inwardly. She can't do anything to alleviate them at the moment, so she turns and heads into the turbolifts, helping him to move the wounded.....

na'Tatha barely managed to keep from crying out as Fahl lifted her upright. Painkillers were a great idea, in theory, but they didn't do much for shattered bones, where nerves were constantly being disturbed.

"Manaan," she responded to his query, voice taut with the repressed scream, "not until I can get a splint on this thing."

He started walking forward, but her leg was not completely immobile - a fact which she was made painfully aware of. At least the subcommander could think clearly.

Sahrai hurried the rest of the men into the turbolift--hurried even more when Ordo informed him how much time they had before the charges on the blast doors blew.

Daaron and na'Tatha appeared from behind a console, the Taarin officer hopping on one foot while Daaron supported her. The other foot was bootless, bandaged, and bloody.

Sahrai could have run out and helped to carry na'Tatha, but he took the easier route instead--he used the Force and pulled them into the turbolift, fast, stepping in behind them and closing the doors.

"Down a level, fast," he said, doing what he could to alleviate the pain of the wounded. The Force couldn't actually lessen it, but he could make them
think that it was lessened.

-----

Daaron felt his eyes go wide as he lifted off of the ground along with na'Tatha, being pulled as though by an invisible harness into the turbolift. He hadn't expected Sahrai to do that.

As the turbolift dropped, Daaon breathed a sigh of relief--at least they didn't have to worry about another firefight with more guards yet.

Viree13 stands in the lift as they get everyone inside. Once they're all in and the lift is moving, she goes over to na'Tatha. Without speaking, she places her hand on na'Tatha's injured leg. Using the Force, she sends her energy into the wounded tissue, causing its regeneration rate to speed up to an abnormally fast rate. The bones begin to knit together, and the tissue around the bones grafts together as well......

Once the healing is complete, Viree13 gets to her feet, glancing coldly at the subcommander. "There is your repayment for the energy I borrowed from you before....."

na'Tatha looked up at the renegade Jedi from her seated position on the floor of the lift, unsure of what to say. For now, relief flooded through her body like a tide, leaving her feeling as if she'd had a month's leave in a luxurious mountain hidaway.

"My thanks," she said finally. As the lift came to a halt, the subcommander stood, testing her leg. Still a tad tender, but completely whole. The only indication that it had ever been wounded was the blood on the bandage and the shredded fabric of her pants, and the absence of her right boot.

The lift doors opened, and she brought her rifle to a guard position.

Viree13, on the other hand, feels as though she'd just been through ten battles, not just one or two. She leans against the side of the lift, her complexion becoming dark as her skin transforms to its normal state - her Shapeshifter form. Blood from her own wound starts to seep onto her leather outfit once more, but she ignores it, forcing herself to stand at the ready as the doors open.....

Ordo sighed in relief when Sahrai lifted Daaron and the subcommander into the turbolift, it saved anyone else from having to go out and help them.

He noted that Viree13 healed na'Tatha's injured leg, which would mean that they would no longer have to worry about helping her along. As the lift doors began to open, Ordo raised his blaster. He realized that he left the sniper ammo in it, quickly changed the ammo, and silently berated himself for not doing that sooner.

His blaster had just risen when they lift car rattled from an explosion. Ordo dropped into a crouch on instinct, but realized that it was the guards detonating the door above them. He was one of the first into the hallway, turning right while another commando turned left. They began systematically sweeping the hallway for hidden passageways or traps.
