"Nothing before that day," Charolette admitted.

Aaron suddenly didn't feel mad at her, instead, he felt sorry.
"Alright, I'll forgive you for sneaking onto my ship. I'm not too fond of trespassers... That was my father's..." he said, "So, do you plan on running off to some other ship? Or are you gonna help?"

Charolette smiled and looked up at Aaron, "I seem to be stuck in the middle of this one. This isn't at all like last time, Captain."

Katria walked over and sighed. "Captain, forgive me for intruding, but I keep having this feeling you have something up your sleeve...and I'd like to know what is it."

Katria looked him in the eyes. There was a gleam in them that she could tell meant something bigger than the Crystals was going through his head.

Aaron looked from Charolette to Katria, then back, then he sighed.
"You'll know when everyone else gets to know," he said...

Katria sighed and rolled her eyes. "Well, this day is getting exciting, then, isn't it? I'm going to go and try and stretch my arms out...I think my left shoulder is still out of it's socket..."

"Yes," Charolette agreed as she lay back on the bed, "This day is getting exciting. We have be placed on some mission or some kind. We are in a nice room for the night, and not to mention that we aren't all dead. Yes. That is a very good thing. We are not all dead."

Aaron shook his head at the two girls, and walked to his room. It was full of beautifully carved furniture with silk pillows and curtains. On the bed was a blue tunic with white breeches. He sighed, he'd rather wear black...
"But I guess that'll do," he mumbled...

New ship, new supplies, new spoon... Where'd his spoon go? Belnad the Cheesehead dug around in his pants pocket until, with a defeated sigh, he moved over to victimate one of the poor guards. "Pardon me, darling," he greeted politely, [s]assuming the British accent that befitted him not at all.[/s] "'ave you by any fleeting chance seen my spoon?"

The guard under interrogation blinked twice and gave him The Look of Doom that Said Quite Blatantly to Move to the Other Side of the Kingdom and Never Return.

Heaving a profound sigh of resignation, Belnad looked around for his friends. Every one of them seemed to have conveniently forgotten his arthritic condition. Captain Aaron the Athletic Muscleman had even promised to carry him to bed tonight. They simply didn't appreciate his life threatening condition. He was delicate, for crying out loud! Shaking his head, he proceeded to shuffle around the throne. Every lining as a silver cloud, as his grandmother used to say. Wonderful woman, his grandmother. Not a single watermelon she'd ever thrown at him had been thrown in vain.

He passed the door behind the throne and fancied he heard voices from within. Perhaps they'd even located his spoon. Creeping surreptitiously closer as only a fifty-one year old maniac could creep, he pressed his ear to the partially ajar door.

"...betray you, sire."

A noise that was either a rustle of damask cushions or the King passing gas. His Flatulent Majesty grunted. "Ten thousand gold. They're pirates, for heaven's sake. They can't - "

"Precisely my point!" A fist banging onto a hard wooden table. "They will take the gold and fly. They have no honor. The least you can do is have your wizards trail them. If they betray you..."

No mention of spoons. Utterly devastated, Belnad moved away and bumped into Phaerin, standing cheerfully by the window. He magnanimously patted the first mate on the back. He struck a pensive mien, not a far cry from the spiritual guru he wasn't. "A wise man once said to me," he began sagely, "'The rotten fish always swim at the bottom.'"

And leaving Phaerin with that wonderfully reassuring and rather bewildering statement, Belnad the Cheesehead tottered happily off.

Paloc walked into his own room. His eyes widened. The area was full of wooden furniture, woven rugs, and pillows. He flopped down onto the bed, but sat up again. It was too hard- it didn't fit his body like his hammock did. Oh well, I'll be back on the ship soon. he thought.
Opening a large wardrobe, Paloc found a variety of shirts, breeches, jackets, and shoes. He started sorting through the clothes, trying on various articles. After several minutes he closed the doors. He was wearing the tattered, but very serviceable breeches, shirt and shoes that he had worn for the past couple of years. He did pull on a blue jacket that struck his fancy.
He walked back out to join the group. "So, Captain said he had something in mind. Has he told any of you about it yet?"

"No," Charolette said as she walked by Paloc, "He hasn't mentioned anything about that yet, so, don't worry. You haven't missed anything."

((yes, I love LDM's character!))

Aaron had eventually found the closet, and luckily it had at least brown trousers, and a Navy blue tunic, which he put on. A few minutes later he left his room. Suddenly he stopped, and looked around the next bend in the hall to see his second mate. The Cheesehead was mumbling something about his spoon.
"Aye, Belnad, lost your spoon again?"

Phaerin humored himself for some time longer, staring morosely at the rain, until his wryly resigned side kicked in and he admitted to himself that this could accurately be described as sulking. Not something he did. The throne room, he discovered upon turning, was effectively empty. Except, of course, for the requisite guards at strategic intervals.

Strolling, hands in trouser pockets, toward one of the large sets of doors, Phaerin winked cheerily at a guard. The man, standing about as straight as a ramrod that'd been on a torture rack, glared right on back. Touchy, this lot.

Carpets! All over! Tapestries! Every conceivable luxury, thought Phaerin in disgust as he ascended the stairs up to their designated rooms, expression one of mild disgust. Half this, if sold, could feed the entire kingdom for a year. Rank extravagance, that's what it was. And this was who they were working for!

Life had taken a turn Phaerin decidedly didn't like.

(( LDM, your char is quite remarkable!))

Katria kept stetching out her left shoulder as she looked at the clothes they had put out. A pair of black breeches, a red tunic, and a black undershirt. Katria sighed.

"Not as bad as a dress, then." She went into a small restroom/closet time area to change her clothes. After she was done, she put her old clothes in a small basket thing as a present to His Majesty's maids. She grinned as she came out, lacing up her boots.

Charolette ran back in to the room very quickly and changed it some of the clothes provided for her. All of the excitement about what had just happened caused her to forget the fact that she was still drenched and dirty in the old clothes she was wearing in the dungeon. Finally, she thought, a place that I can actually mean something. A place where I actually matter.
