Apple an pairs = Stairs
Dog and Bone = Phone!

I was using cockney rhyming slang, when I said 'bubble', it is derived from 'Bubble Bath', which rhymes with 'Laugh'.
So:
Your having a bubble = Your having a laugh!

I still have little knowledge of most slang, Its just i watch too many football hooligan films, and ones set in london, like snatch, and lockstock.

:D

:duh: I knew I'd missed Cockney.

Ah well, she knows all about slang and its origins now.

Hehe, bad French, I can do that. :teehee: What's the plot Ellie?

And there's

"Are you having a giraffe?!"

I believe that's Cockney as well...

^ yeah, i've been known to say (or at least think) "are you having a giraffe?" depsite being in no way cockney. bizarre.

there's also:
barney rubble=trouble
adam and eve=believe (as in "would you adam and eve it?")
plates of meat=feet

there's a whole dictionary of it here: http://www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/. can be quite amusing.

^ 'tis a wonderful thing, dialect. unfortunately i'm from a town that doesn't have the imagination or the history to have invented any of it's own, so i just have to nick everyone else's.
