Quote: Um... where's the link between those? :unsure
Apple an pairs = Stairs
Dog and Bone = Phone!
They are just rhyming, not quite as deep.
And I'm definately seeing Mr Bean on tuesday!

Ah well, she knows all about slang and its origins now. Elegost Eruaphadion wrote: Mr Bean is hilarious, aye. His French is appalling though. Hehe, bad French, I can do that. And there's
"Are you having a giraffe?!"
I believe that's Cockney as well...

^ yeah, i've been known to say (or at least think) "are you having a giraffe?" depsite being in no way cockney. bizarre.
there's also:
barney rubble=trouble
adam and eve=believe (as in "would you adam and eve it?")
plates of meat=feet
there's a whole dictionary of it here: http://www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/. can be quite amusing.

^ 'tis a wonderful thing, dialect. unfortunately i'm from a town that doesn't have the imagination or the history to have invented any of it's own, so i just have to nick everyone else's.
