Ah yes, the whole Calypso thing bothered me quite a bit. I also should've been more offended by the violence than I was. The only thing that really bothered me was when Davy Jones killed Mercer. That part was very revolting, and even thogh I'm not easily grossed out or offended, I chose not to watch.

Thanks Elenriel.

Elenriel, I actually found it easier to understand Tia Dalma in AWE, but it's probably because I watched DMC so much and got used to her voice. I always hated how she said everything so inverted.

TheThain, when I said "packed" I meant it as a good thing. I've only read a few reviews but most of them made me wonder if the critic had even seen DMC (or remembered it) because I thought AWE made perfect sense. I loved that it had so much going on and had no problem knowing what was going on.

I don't think my summary showed that they had nothing to do with each other either. I was just saying the overall feeling of each movie.

How can they have nothing to do with each other? It's all the same characters (some new) but on a different adventure. Plus DMC and AWE go together. They're about the SAME adventure. Not sure what you are trying to say here...

Drew's Destiny, I think in a sense Tia Dalma's storm engulfed Davy Jones. She took her lover back. I think the storm did help them. It postponed the big battle while they fought the others... etc...

Elenriel, yeah. One day for every ten years. Because Will said something along the lines of, "it depends on how good the day is..."

elvishjedipirate, this definently was the most violent, though I do believe the mercer had it coming. Still, there was a lot of violence in DMC too.

OK, I'll probably regret stumbling upon this crazy thread later, as I've not been posting here and don't know what everyone has said already way back at the beginning, but I just saw this on Sunday and had to comment on it :)

I still don't know my order of preference of the movies, but I do think that this was very good :D All the Will/Elizabeth scenes made up for anything bad in the movie - they were just too perfect together!

I thought the Davy (one or two v's?)/Tia thing was sweet. I have to say, though, that when Calypso was released and Tia grew...that was a bit corny :P

Will was the hottest he's ever been (), and Jack was quite nice as well :teehee: The crabs were awesome :D

I also heard that the scene after the credits was really great. Except the theater I was at was stupid and didn't show it :( So I'm planning to go again (at a different theater :P) to see the scene myself :D

Now some questions...

For those of you who did see the scene after the credits...did Will actually come and land and see Elizabeth and their son, or did it show him on the ship, coming toward land? Also, do you think this is enough set up for a 4th movie, or was it a good ending for the trilogy?

Next, I read somewhere last night that Will is not bound to the ship for eternity - he only has to serve for 10 years, and then he can be with Elizabeth again. I read that somewhere the producers said that :confused2: Does anybody know more about this? Becuase I think that's heartbreaking that Will and Elizabeth will only see each other once every ten years for the rest of their lives! That's only about 5 or 6 more times before Elizabeth dies :(

And finally, does any one know where you can get screencaps/images of the Will/Elizabeth marriage/kiss scene?? I've seen so many graphics featuring it, but I can't find them!! *headdesk*

Oh, i loved it when Davy killed Mercer, i was like, power to the octopus guy! It made me happy to see that Davy was actually taking some of that agression out and not bottling it up, and making himself sad.

I think that Davy probably made the Kraken just lay on shore until it died, it might be like a whale where if it stays on land long enough, its enormous weight would just crush itself. But omg, its eye was soooo gorgeous!

Yes, I think they left themselves enough room for a 4th movie. There's the whole Fountain of Youth thing, for starters, and this bring me to your next question...

No, Will is not bound to the ship forever. If Elizabeth is faithful during those ten years he's at sea, when he comes back the curse is broken and he can hand over captaincy of the Dutchman to another. PotR has confirmed this, so I know it's true :) Teh almighty PotR knows everything.

Me neither! Let me know when someone does find them!

Personally, gore doesn't bother me overtly. My reaction to Davy killing Mercer was something along the lines of "hmm...wasn't aware Davy was quite that violent..." and then I totally forgot it. The whole Tia thing didn't bother me either - I know it's just a story, it's not real, so why be bothered by it? Why not just enjoy it?

I love you. I seriously do. For once some one can answer my questions! (not that anyone on this forum has annoyed me lately - I'm talking about other places, not my dear AU!)

Well, I hope that they do do a 4th movie, then, as long as they do it right. However, who knows if that is possible  *cough*Hollywood*cough*

And yay! I'm so glad that Will and Elizabeth will be together again! :) They should have clarified that more in the film, but I'm just glad it's a happy ending :)

I will certainly let you know ;)

Haha, well, even though I am quite disturbed by gore, I still found that way of killing someone very unique and cool :D I am so odd :teehee: As for Tia, well, it didn't really bother me, I just kind of laughed instead of being in...awe? :P Whatever xD

Awww, fankoo. Have a cookie :) I do my best, but I must credit potr - most of what I know I know because of her.

I know, me too! It's so happy! *dances* I think if you listen to Tia carefully enough, you can sorta put two and two together, but as people have been saying she can be a little hard to understand sometimes. Anyway, why do that when you have awesome people here to make it all clear to you? :P

Me too!!! I think a fourth one would actually be so fun, even if it wasn't as good as the others. I would totally count the days, and go watch it.

I guess you can't really blame Davy. After all, Mercer is one heck of an evil guy. Everything about him screams "evil!" and he was doing a lot to antagonize the entire crew of the Dutchman. But all the same I'm sorta glad they only showed a few shots of tentacles doing...stuff...to him :)

EDIT: Gosh, I am such a softy! I just watched the end scene again on YouTube and nearly cried AGAIN. Wow, I am SO going to have to own this DVD.

Thanks so much for clarifying the whole ten years thing. I thought that was how it worked, but it was a bit confusing in the movie to see if it was once every ten years or ten years and then Will could hand it over to someone else. That's certainly a much happier ending. :P

Me and you. Yeah, we could work well together :D *eats cookie*

Haha, yes, why even try to understand the movie, when I have all of you lovlies here at the forum? :teehee: After I saw the movie I couldn't wait to get here and get some things straightened out :P

We could go see #4 together! XD

Haha, I agree. Mercer = not nice

The end scene is on YouTube?? Tell me WHERE??? I looked last night and it was gone! :( *goes to search*

Okay, well, this is the first time I've even been in this thread, but we sort of got carried away with an AWE discussion in the WT thread, so I'm bringing it over here. ;)

My second question to Larael and JF [and anyone else]: What was Jack's motive throughout the movie? What was he trying to get? Because at one point, he and Will do some sort of swap, right? Does he want to kill Davey Jones?

Hmm....well, Gwenneth, I think that eventually Jack decides he'd like to take Davy Jones' spot and become 'ruler of the seas'. So before Will almost died, he was going to kill the heart and become the new captain. But he gave that up to save Will.

I might be wrong, but that's kind of what I thought..=/

Jack just doesn't want to die again. And he gets dragged along by Barbossa (got saved by Calypso purely for this purpose) to set Calypso free from her human form because they needed all the pirates...

@ Ms. G - I will be only too happy to get them for you.... when the dang blasted pages stops locking my computer... :annoyed: ...aww...I love your avatars.... *sniff*.... the "we don't understand it either" did make me smile though.

EDIT: I have them now, I'll PM them to you. :-)

----------------------------

@ Ánië Súrion - *gasp* He is like...the only really noble character..... he truly loved Elizabeth, enough to let her go so she would be happy... and you begrudge him a kiss before he was going to die all because of her? :'(

-----------------------------------------

@ Banana - Thanks for the link again. It worked. :-)

-----------------------------------

@ Elenriel - Well.... first of all I have to say, that sometimes the cinema sound system can make the dialogue hard to understand. I know I couldn't understand her in DMC, but when I watched it at home I knew what she was saying. Just like AWE. I have a clip of Tia Dalma speech on my computer, and now I know exactly what she said. In the cinema I had to almost lip read. :teehee:

I think it is safe to say she caused the storm. Goddess of the sea and all that. My feeling is Barbossa etc, where hoping she would help them defeat Beckett and Jones BUT she wouldn't want to kill Jones I don't think. Causing the storm meant that eithr side had a fair chance of winning, so she was neither leaving them to it, nor aiding one side more than the other.

As to how Swann died.... I'm betting it was Mercer. But who knows really? It looks like that is something we have to decide for yourselves. As for anything to do with the heart.... I think Swann was in danger of knowing too much and that is why he was dealt with. The Kraken was very powerful, but if Davy Jones had the Kraken still, he could easily have attacked Beckett's ship before he knew what happened. Having Daby Jones kill the Kraken (possibly with the three guns) meant that this was one way Jones could not betray Beckett.

------------------

@ FRODOFAN - Nice costume. :D

--------------------------

@ elvishjedipirate - Personally I liked the way he died. But I respect your reasoning behind not watching it. :-)

------------------------

@ Gil - Well... it seems everyone has answered your questions.... I think it does set it up for another film... even without the little scene at the end. Whether it will be a film with Will and Elizabeth remains to be seen.

-----------------------

@ Medla - Well.... I always try and keep an open mind.... which means not always listening to what I hear on the internet. I would be much more willing to believe everything concerning Pirates, if POTR would divulge some site names where she gets her information. Share and share alike eh? ;)

---------------------------

@ Gwen - Hmm... that is a good question... as FRODOFAN says, he really doesn't want to die again, which is why he probably like the idea of immortality. I'm not entirely sure what his aim was, but I'm thinking getting close to Beckett and Davy = heart. And if you think about it, he did do that on a few ocassions. Which for me, makes his noblity in giving the heart and stabbing it with Will, so Will lived.... even more.... brilliant. :D

^Ahhh, see I missed that whole thing! I didn't realize that Jack was actually saving Will's life.

Ahhh...hmmm...

Wait, say that again FRODO. Why did Calypso want to bring Jack back?

Thanks for the info JF, Frodofan, Drew, Tur and Meldawen (hope I didn't miss anyone).

I guess I have to re-train my ears to Tia's speech. It probably would have made the movie clearer for me.

Meldawen-I hope you are right. It certainly makes a more palatable ending for me-at least the two would be able to spend more time together.
