Would that mean that Gibbs was released from his position in the Royal Navy for his acts of piracy or in his involvement with piracy?

*wonders about that too*
*sigh* Alright It's official. I won't be able to see potc 3. Dad just sprung it on me and my girlfriends today, and untill I'm old enough to be out on my own and see it, I won't be able to see it-ever!
*sobs*
Which brings me to another point...does anyone have any clips from the movie that aren't already widely circulated online? Like the wedding or Elizabeth seeing her (dead)father in the otherworld, or Norrie's death or Elizabeth's speech to the pirates or The end where tia gets huge and Davy gets normal? I can't find those anywhere and I'd really like to see them!
Wow, potr, I can't believe your friend gt to have her name in the DVD commentary! That's like so totaly amazing....

Padawan, for a little while I had access to the whole movie, but it wasn't downloadable (not that I would have taken it anyway; even pirates have their morals), but it's long since been taken down. If I find myself in the possession of any more clips, you'll be the first to know.

It made a lot more sense this time round concerning Calypso. I'd always been of the opinion that although she created the really bad storm and everything, she wasn't particularly leaning towards either side. Some things that I noticed this time round, furthered this opinion.
When Davy was talking to Calypso in her cell, one of the last things he said to her was:
"And what fate do you have planned for your captors?"
To which she replied:
"The Brethren Court. The last thing they will learn is how cruel I can be"
So although she brought Babby back to release her, she is obviously still angry with the Pirate lords for binding her in the first place. This conversation leads you to think she will help Davy and Beckett when she is free.
But when she is just about to be released, Will gets to her, and starts saying things that might make her help them.
"When the Brethren Court bound you, who was it who betrayed you? Who was it who told them how?"
"Name HIM!"
"Davy Jones"
So now Will has but his two pence in, in the hope she will now take a stand against Davy Jones.
But just when the storm starts, one of Beckett's men says the wind is on their side and silmultaneously, Gibbs says the wind is on their side (which is impossible). So not only had Calypso created the storm and everything, so they all had to same advantage, she also made sure they had the same wind behind them, so it really was an even fight.
I kinda like the fact that she did that, rather than choose a side, because I don't think she really would have wanted to harm Davy Jones or the people she had just travelled with to World's End.

Alriiiiiiiiighty...
So I did get to see it again, and somethings were much better (like all the funny quotes that I forgot about!), but I became more confused on other things
As I watched it again, it seemed more to me that Will is bound to the Dutchman for eternity and can only see Eliz. for 1 day every ten years. Hence the "It depends on the day" quote he said. But then, the scene after the credits (which I did get to see this time!) showed a green flash as Will returned on the ship, so would that signify his soul coming back forever? Sorry if I'm bringing this up again If any of you have some more info that could clear up the confusion, I'd give you a giant cookie!
^^That was mostly what I was confused about But like I said, I picked up more of Jack's great lines. It was funnier the second time, I think
JF - Ooh, thanks muchly for that explination of the storm ^ I missed that, so that was helpful
DD - Thanks for that link to the interview! I'll have to watch it asap!
Padawan - Aww, I'm sorry I don't have any clips either, except for the trailer =/ Will you be able to see it when the DVD comes out?

@ Darky - As I said I already knew the basis of it, but it was the first time I had noticed the conversations that were going on, to try and get Calypso to choose a side. I found that very interesting.
Hehe, glad you like it.
@ Gil - I agree with you. There were at least 2 characters that specifically mentioned whoever commanded the Dutchman, would do so for eternity. Only one day out of 10 could he come back the this world - which is why the green flash can be seen, I believe. Technically, he is a soul coming back to this world, but he will soon be off again.
------------------
As I have said, I really loved watching it again. There are three scenes that really stand out for me:
The opening - I think it is one of the best openings of any film I have ever seen. It's sad and it's compelling, as it really tells a story and draws you into that story. It makes no attempt to try and soften the horror and mass slaughter that is being witnessed by the camera's or the uplifting defiance of the soon to be executed captors. The opening works so well, because we the audience, now know why everything that happens in AWE is vital the to the survial of our heroes and pirates in general.
Up is Down - The fact I listen to this track more than any other on the CD has nothing whatsoever to do with making me lean torwards this scene, as one of my favourite POTC scenes ever. I just think it's brilliant. Jack's rocks my world in this scene. He is so utterly stupidly funny, it's unbelievable. He just sets the whole scene off, and when they all click as to what he is doing, it's so funny to see everyone running backwards and forwards. Team spirit I say. And the camera pull back, to see the Pearl wobbling in the water, is just priceless.
The Battle - It would be unfair to say, it's just the battle I love. From the moment the colours of all the different pirate ships are hoisted, and we see each Pirates Lord standing, proud and defiant aboard their ships. That is the start of one of my favourite scenes in any film ever. It is as uplifting as any battle in LOTR, and for me as compelling. The battle itself is superb, the effects as such that you forget that this is a film, and that it isn't real. The choreography is particularly brillaint. Hats off to Mr. Bloom and Miss. Knightly, as the wedding scene and all the different moves and swordplay, was exciting to watch, and in my opinion, perfectly done. That whole section of the film, is a rollercoaster of a ride, and for me, if nothing else is worth spending £9 to see again.

I love those two scenes as well, especially Up is Down, its my second favorite song on the CD.
It's neat to go back and watch the DMC extras, and now i know why they needed the gimbal(sp?) so they could do that scene.

I saw it again, and it occurred to me:
Is there any particular reason why Barbossa thinks the Black Pearl is his? We know Jack sold his soul to Davy Jones for it, so what claim does Barbossa have on it? The only thing I can figure is his pride; he likes commanding the ship which he, a pirate lord, was forced to serve first mate on (from the first movie).

Well apparently, Jack was once in the pay of the East India company as a merchant sailor, and his ship was called the something Wench. He was told to transport some slaves in his ship, which he refused to do, and the ship was burnt. Jack asked Davy to bring his ship back, and he re-named it the Black Pearl. So I think the reason Barbossa calls it "his" ship, is that Jack was in command of the Pearl for a very short amount of time but when he was mutinied Barbossa had it for many years. So that's why they both claim to the Captain of the Pearl.

@Padawan, I have the whole movie on the computer (illegal pirate without morals here ) but it won't let me divide it into parts so I can't upload it anywhere.
Why won't you be seeing it? You're not allowed? How come?

@ JF - The Wicked Wench, I believe it was. That seems a funny name to me for a ship under the employ of the EITC, but I suppose it IS Jack
I always thought that Barbossa knew it was Jack's shp but he's rather jealous so he demurs that it's his because he knows he has a sort of claim on it. I think he knows the connection Jack has with his ship and he wants that but can't have it, maybe. Maybe it's the previously hidden fanfiction writer in me coming out, I dunno
