I finished Deathly Hallows yesterday and it was a brilliant book. My first impression was that it was a lot darker than the previous ones. I also expected Harry to die, I was sure JKR was going to let him die. But when I came to the chap where Harry walked into the arms of Voldemort I couldn't take it.. It would be soo wrong if Harry died even without fighting.

Kit, I know how you feel about Lupin and Tonks  There wasn't even a description about how brave they fought. They were just dead withoutanything more said about them. *sobs*

I knew Snape was good.. I just knew it.. I just couldn't follow the part where Snap realised Harry had to die (in the memory) Did he care for Harry after all or only Lily?

And I have to say I disliked the Epilogue, I can't imagine Harry as a father..

I'm quite sad right now.. knowing that the story has ended.. but at least I enjoyed every minute reading it :-D

I gathered from that that he was in love with Lily. I believe that is what was supposed to be portrayed. :bounce: anyone else have a different opinion?[/quote]

It is not my belief that Snape really... LOVED Harry, really cared for the kid, because all he was able to see in Harry was his father. But he made sure Harry was safe simply because DD told him to and because no matter what he was Lily's child. Snape will always love Lily, but that love does pass from the mother to the son in his eyes.

Glad you enjoyed my spazzy reviews, eowyn! :D

Well I'm not too sure about the Sorting Hat...I imagine it's a very powerful Magical object so setting it on fire won't destroy it..As for the resurrection stone Harry dropped it in the Forbidden Forest on his way to die....In one of the interviews JKR gave she was asked about it and she said that it was pushed into the ground when the centaurs joined the battle at Hogwarts and it will never be found...It would just be pased over as an ordinary rock on the forest floor...

interesting take. I was being sarcastic, however. lol. Still.

I didn't like the idea that Harry didn't die and that he never died fighting Voldemort.

Your welcome Kitoky! :)

*revives thread*

So, has everyone seen the chat transcipt for the live webchat with JKR? If not, head on over HERE. Some people brought up some very interesting questions, and she had some very interesting answers.

A few interesting tid bits I thought I'd bring up -

JK Rowling wrote:
She [Luna] ended up marrying (rather later than Harry & co) a fellow naturalist and grandson of the great Newt Scamander (Rolf)!

Oo, good job Jo. You just sunk the Neville/Luna ship. *ish sad*

JK Rowling wrote:
I think that when Dudley was attacked by the Dementors he saw himself, for the first time, as he really was. This was an extremely painful, but ultimately salutory lesson, and began a transformation in him.

Verrry interesting. Everyone speculated after Ootp about this, but no one could ever get a clear idea. It was hard to find anything Dudley could have a bad memory of since he leaved a rather pampered life.

JK Rowling wrote:
Remus was killed by Dolohov and Tonks by Bellatrix.

*sniffle* There you have it folks from the master of fictional character death herself. Now that I've started rereading DH, we should have suspected that Tonks would die by Bellatrix' hand... er, wand, because at one point in the first chapter, Voldie suggests that she should "prune" her family tree where there was imperfection or something like that.

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to what Dumby saw in the Mirror of Erised]He [Dumbledore] saw his family alive, whole and happy - Ariana, Percival and Kendra all returned to him, and Aberforth reconciled to him.

A very intriguing similarity, as that is exactly what Harry sees as well. It's interesting how similiar there lives are in small ways.

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to someone doing magic late in life]I'm sorry about this, but I changed my mind!

Yet, she didn't tell anyone she had until after the book was published... :eyeroll:

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to how Voldy got his wand back]Wormtail, desperate to curry favour, salvaged it from the place it had fallen and carried it to him.

Aaand, that means that Wormtail must have been there the night the Potter's died.

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to whether Snape is a hero or not]Yes, I do; though a very flawed hero. An anti-hero, perhaps.

Wheee! *huggles Snape* Can someone tell me what exactly an anti-hero is? I've heard the term before in reference to another piece of literature.

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to whether Lily ever liked or loved Snape]Yes. She might ever have grown to love him romantically (she certainly loved him as a friend) if he had not loved Dark Magic so much and been drawn to such loathesome people and acts.

Whoa. That would have made the story entirely different. *scareh thoughts*

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to whether the abundance of socks throughout the series was important in some way]Nothing deep and significant, I'm afraid. They're just a comedy item.

Sorry, that just caught my eye because I'd just been talking about that very point on another forum before the book came out. :P

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to why Dumby left Ron the Deluminator]Because he knew that Ron might need a little more guidance than the other two.

Smart man, Dumbledore. He was spot on with that one. Thank goodness Ron figured out that it just wasn't for putting out lights.

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to whether Hermione brought her parents back to England and reversed the charm she put on them]Yes, she brought them home straight away.

Thank goodness. Putting that charm on her parents showed a maturity level in Hermione beyond her years. I was proud of her for it.

JK Rowling wrote:
[in response to why she felt Hedwig's death was necessary]The loss of Hedwig represented a loss of innocence and security. She has been almost like a cuddly toy to Harry at times. Voldemort killing her marked the end of childhood.

I'm glad she answered that as I was quite devastated that she was killed in such a quick and brutal manner.

.... When Tonks died----do you think her hair changed back to her natural color or do you suppose that it stayed pink?

Well, I'm looking for thoughts and opinions. I'm drawing a particularly specific fanart, and I can't decide whether or not to make it her usual pink as I imagine that was what she had, or the mousy brown that she had all of HBP.

It depends... I would like to remember Tonks with pink hair but I imagine that when she died her magic would sorta fade and her hair would turn back to 'natural'.

Thanks for posting that long... thing, Larael. Especially the part with Hedwig made a lot of sense to me since it felt so meaningless when she died.

Lol. You're quite welcome Eä, although truthfully, that was barely have of it. :P

As for the question at hand - Hmm.. I would think it a sign of emotional weakness if her hair had turned that mousy brown colour. I'd like to think that she died with her pink hair... unless of course, she knew that Remus had already died. You can take two angles on that I suppose.

I think Tonks hair would go back to her natural color. But I have a feeling that someone would have turned it back to pink for her funeral, because thats how most people who reamber her.

Oh, I thought I post this in case some people didn't know, because I just found out. That weird thing (in the corner) in the chapter of King's Crossing was the piece of Voldomorts soul that was in Harry.

Ya know, the first time I read DH through I was really confused as to what that flayed child thing was. Personally, I thought it was Voldemort. It wasn't til later when I asked my Dad his view on it that he told me it was the horcrux. Made complete sense after that.

I caught on to that actually, that that... thing was Voldemort's soul, because the entire purpose of Harry being killed was because he had Voldy's soul, so---he and Voldy both died, so... it would make sense if there was two objects in King's Cross Limbo.

Oh, thst makes sense now. I was wondering about that. Those questions were really great, Lar! Thanks for sharing. :D

I would have thought Tonk's hair would have stayed pink, or whatever color it was when she died. Honestly, I don't think Tonks had a natural hair color, so when the magic faded it just kind of froze as it was. Her nose, too. :P
