Drew, aye, you hit the nail right on the head there, Drew. And it gets so tiring to hear people always say that Jack "made" PotC so he can "make" a 4th one too... I mean, sure, it would've been a little less entertaining and probably not quite as good without him, but then again it would've been the same if they got rid of Barbossa or Will. and it will be the same when they get rid of Will and 'Lizabeth for P4.

most definitely! Willabeth makes up a huge portion of PotC... just look at AWE... a lot of that is their struggles influenced the story greatly (as you pointed out)

aye, "one can only hope."

"take what you can."

"and give nuthin' back!"

:teehee:

Anie, No worries! I watched it last week! :-D

Ah, PotC takes up... well, depending on the day (of course) about only 40% or so of my day. ;)

Well, actually I did have to do some school.... :erm: not that I did it very well and I actually don't really remember it... BUT I did do a little. ;) aye, aye!

No, not really. ;) Well, depending on her mother really... if she took after her father... well, can you imagine a girl who looked like Barby? :hide:

sorry, I can't really reply to the rest... I'm too.... well, hyped up about AWE! (please don't take offence or anything... I hope you don't mind...) I just finished watching the whole thing about a half an hour ago!!! And now it's actually settling in... for a while after it ended I was depressed (look at my post in the WT thread ;)) and I still kinda am... I mean I just had to watch Becky, Norrie AND Will die! And on top of it all the thought that it's all over is finally sinking in. :( I'm happy it's over... but you know, it's sorta how I felt after seeing RotK on dvd... just sorta sad too. and I was confused about the whole Willabeth ending all over again. But I looked it up and apparently the way the movie makes it out to end Will DOES have to stay with the Dutchman forever, BUT they deleted a crucial scene between Davy and Tia where they talked about him being able to be free after ten years if she remained loyal. But they deleted that from the movie. :annoyed2: you know what? I smell Disney behind all this.... they want so badly to make the end fit for people for Willabeth and people against it so they basically gave it two ends (as far as I can figure)... I mean how hard would it have been to put that one little scene in that explained it all? Really. :eyeroll: It gets so confusing the way it is because they never really flat-out say how the curse works..... anyway, I guess I believe in deleted scenes and I will most certainly believe in that one that REALLY explains how the curse works.

But on the brighter side, welcome back, Taur!

and how many have seen the bloopers for AWE? Those things are the best I have EVER seen!!! the Tom and Johnny ones were hilarious! And all those where poor Mr. Rush's hat kept flying away!!! classic!

Also the "two captains, one ship" deleted scene was amazing! lol I always wondered where that pic of them fighting over the wheel came in... :P (but I still REALLY wish they had also put in the deleted scene that tells the full story about the curse... gee, the more I think about this the more I can totally see Disney behind all of it :disgust:)

*drops into thread for the first time in months*

Does anyone know if there are any good quality screen-caps of AWE up yet? If so, I'd be most interested in a link.

I'd like to jump in and say that you both are so right! Jack makes it fun and entertaining but Willabeth adds all the passion and depth.

I always thought so too from our conversations here and IMDB, even though I've never seen that scene and it wasn't on the deleted scenes in the DVD. But there's a question and answer thing in the little cover booklet that reads:
Quote:
Since Will honored his destiny on the Flying Dutchman, in 10 years does he get to return to land for good, thereby freeing his father and crew?
Every 10 years, Will may step on land for one day. He is bound to the Flying Dutchman forever.

So, yeah, I don't know what that's about. :erm: They must of changed their minds or something. That makes the ending so much more depressing! :'(

I think I liked the DMC ones better, but they were very funny! I loved "You can't curse in a Disney film, mate." and "Let us not, dear friends, forget our.... lines!" Oh, and "Belay that! ... Do something else!"

I liked new Pins/Rags scene, too. Both those scenes would have been really good in the movie!

@ manwathiel... That's too bad. :( I hope you get some time during the weekend to see it again and go through the special features!

@ Altariel Frodo... No, I haven't seen any on the usual fan sites yet. I suppose it's still too new.

*pops in*

Haha, I fell in love all over again watching AWE yesterday.

The package is lovely, the shinyness distracted me for a while. I really would have preferred the cover of the one disc, but oh well.

I watched the extras right away, as I did with DMC last year. I love the Hans Zimmer and Keith Richards/Johhny Depp part(Jack:"How's mum?" Teague:"She's on the floor."). I thought that they were magnificent. And the stuff on the Masters of Design. Sao Feng's map has always fascinated me, and the creation and design of the FD's crew, so I really enjoyed that.

The bloopers were absoloutely wonderful! Geoffrey Rush seemed to have the most troubles. Him and his hat! And then Tom Hollander and Johnny Depp's problem with thowing the compass and the fan. I could not stop laughing.

And then, of course, the indeterminable amout of time I will spend drooling over various Davy scenes. *sigh* Crying is eminent . As with the Norrington scenes. The rejoicing of Will's death etc. etc. etc.

*is totally emotionally charged* I could really get hyped up for a fourth...

oh yeah and theres a hidden extra about filming at the salt lake where the Davy Jones Locker bit was filmed.its in the menu for Masters of Design.
loved the bloopers too.Johnny and Tom Hollander must have spent all day throwing that compass at each other(i'd like to see Johnny play cricket with his kids :eyeroll: ).

Also I want to apologize yet again for not being around as often as I used to. :( I just really need to get into a routine that combines A-U and school!

I agree with Drew about that plot. (Soapy means overly dramatic and cheesy, Anie, like in a soap opera. ;)) I don't see Lizzy letting herself be kidnapped again, especially by someone named Bermuda Barbossa. Either someone had their facts wrong or Orlando made it up so as not to give away the real plot. ;)

Aww, it's okay, Taur. I know how it is...school gets in the way! :P

Oh. Heh, I knew that. Neither do I, really, but it would sure be interesting to see Will have to fight a monster, don't you think? :P Bermuda Barbossa...I wonder whose idea that was. And I wouldn't put it past Orlando to make it up to keep DMC a secret, actually. If that's true, kudos to him for coming up with such an "interesting" plot. :P

You guessed right! Afterall, I am OBsessed. ;) Okay...(writes that information down) I am most Certainly going to have to look for that book. Sounds like a very good read, indeed. :-D Thanks for telling me about it. :)
There is no need to apologize. You are most certainly Not stupid. As Taurquende said soapy just means over dramatic/cheesy/soap opera (story/daytime drama) like. (nods) :)

AWEsome indeed! :D
Thanks! That was random, but it was what I was thinking. ;)
Aww, OBsessed! That's cute! I've never heard that before, did you come up with it yourself? You're very welcome. :)
Well, thanks. I might have been able to figure that out, if I'd thought about it long enough. :teehee:

Good girl! *claps* :P

Hm, 40%, that’s not too bad, considering. It could be a lot worse. ;)

Haha, I know what you mean. I was hopping around going “IT’S PIRATE DAY!!!” and not really paying much attention to any teachers. :P But then, I stayed up really late the night before, so I was almost asleep and running on lack of sleep (if that makes any sense?) and acting like an airhead for a lot of the day. It was fun. :D

Oh, heavens! Perish the thought! I mean, Barby’s awesomeness incarnate, but, um, he’s not exactly the sort that would look good as a girl. :P

Aww, how sad, PD! It’s okay. See, now you can watch it all as much as you want! :) I thought it was quite dumb how Disney isn’t giving us any info whatsoever about that, or lying to us about it... :annoyed2: I believe T&T because they WROTE the movie so they should know how the curse works, right? I mean, if they don’t know whether you can break it or not then we’re all in trouble. :teehee: but anyway, I read a quote from them that confirmed that Will is freed from the Dutchman after 10 years, so that’s what I’m sticking to.

  I LOVE the bloopers! You’re right, PD, these are the best yet! My personal favorites are “Do something else!”, the one where Chow Yun-Fat pulled off his beard and was like “My beard!”, and (my all-time favorite) the one where Geoffrey’s about to release Calypso and he says “I won’t be lettin’ the likes of Beckett Cutler...sometimes known Cutler Beckett...” I don’t know why, but I think that’s absolutely hilarious for some reason. :D

I loved that scene too! I wish they’d been able to put it in, it made me laugh really hard. :D Although I liked “I Like Riddles” a bit more, but I think you can guess why. ;) It just makes me laugh when Ragetti’s all “I like riddles” in this hurt voice. :teehee: (Of course, PD, Disney is behind it all! :eyeroll: At least they *gave* us deleted scenes, even though they weren’t terribly essential to the plot.

Ooh, good find, goldelf... *runs off to find it* :P
 That would be funny! He'd probably break a window like Edmund in The Chronicles of Narnia! :P

And now for Ánië's unsolicited opinions on the AWE DVD. :P

Well, I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted T&T commentary for this one. :annoyed2: Seriously, there are so many scenes that I'd love to hear T&T elaborate and comment on - for instance, the wedding scene. Whose idea was it to have Will and Lizzie's wedding take place in such odd circumstances? Or the whole curse thing; that will irritate me to the end of my days, even though T&T gave us confirmation a while back that Will was free after 10 years. Disney's just trying to get under my skin, I know it! :frust:

On to positive elements...I found the bloopers absolutely hysterical. I think I was actually laughing so hard I was crying the first time I watched them. :D The deleted scenes are great fun too, I know why they aren't in the movie but I kind of wish they could've been. I liked Gore's commentary on the "Competing Captains" scene - "[The ship's wheel] is like the pirate equivalent of the remote control - you know, the supreme object of dominance in the household." That's clever..."Never heard of that before." :P The Pirate Lords featurette and the Maelstrom featurette are probably my two favorites, although of course they were all fascinating. I didn't know Mistress Ching was blind! Or that there were three qualifications for becoming Pirate King, or most of the other stuff in there. Overall, not bad for $25. :D

Legolas 15, Welcome back! I am glad to hear that you are...um well. :-D

PD, Thank you. I have to agree with you there. Jack was not the one and Only thing that made PotC what PotC is. Everyone had a hand in doing that and without Will and Elizabeth...if just won't be PotC to me.
Yes! There story was huge in shaping the story of Pirates of the Caribbean!

Taurquende, Oh, I loved the bloopers too! My favorite one was when Johnny told Tom "You can't cuss in a Disney movie, mate" and when Johnny and Tom kept tossing (and dropping) the compass and bag of money...

Dark Queen of Angmar, Yes, the dvd package is certainly beautiful! I love the shinyness of it. Though I like the one disc packing too. I think that they did a great job with the dvd covers. :)
 Poor Geoffrey did have quite a time with his hat, didn't he? (laughs) I loved those bloopers as well! Ah-hm...but I did feel for him. Poor guy...I bet it got really old nailing the lines and then having your hat blow off, so that you had to redo the entire scene...

Anie Surion, You are welcome. :)
Sadly, nope. I saw the word "OBsessed" on some of the Orli sites that I lurk on (when I want Orli news) and I thought that it was cute too. So I started using it :)
You are welcome. I am sure that you would have too! (nods) :)

Taur, thank you! well, actually the more I watch AWE the more I realize it's Barbossa I love to watch for entertainment... to me Jack gets shoved even further back.
aye, my brother and I read that stupid little booklet... that's just Disney for you right there. The writers wrote the end as Will getting to come back after ten years and STAY back. The more I read on it and think about it the more I see this is a total Disney thing. It all points to it. Disney didn't want that deleted scene there, they didn't want a writers commentary because the writers would say something like that... Disney seems to be the one pushing for the suspense and heartbreak in Will and Lizzie's relationship. I mean really what was the point of true love if Will still had to stay with the Dutchman? Why would it matter if Liz stayed pure for him? so I'm still gonna go with the writers... their end just logically makes more sense. It is how they wanted the end and to me Disney can take their rubbish to someone who cares. sorry, if that sounds bad but I get so sick of it... think of how many times the writers commented on things and scenes in the DMC commentary that they pretty much said Disney wanted in but they never intended to be that way. :eyeroll: yeah, and doesn't Tia say something like "after ten years he could be with her who love him truly"? not for one stupid day, but for eternity..... as I've ranted before, the curse just logically has to be lifted after ten years.... or else the true love is ruled out.
Eh, sorry you had to read through all that...

Darky! hello! (and I will choose to ignore that comment about Will’s death ;)) ahh, I went through almost the same thing with the falling in love with AWE all over again... Although I never really fell OUT of love with it. ;) Huzzah for another who loved the same exact bloopers as me! :P I know what you mean about the crying part... Norrie and Becky’s deaths really got me this time. :erm: I still actually haven’t sat through all of Becky’s death yet. :'( And Will’s death did get me too... But he comes back and so it’s all good for the most part. :teehee:

Anie, that it could. ;)

lol, I was actually almost thinking of saying "Happy AWE Day" several time. :P Imagine the looks I would've gotten if I had gone into Wal-Mart and said that while I was buying the dvd! lol but it really did feel like a holiday. :P It sounds like it would've been fun... I just had to wait in torture for my brother to drive me there... school, eh, I did end up having to do a little but my mind wasn't really there. ;)

Thanks for the comforting words! And that is the right way to look at it... anyway, I am feeling better now....
AYE! It's quite sneaky of Disney to pop that junk in there so that T&T's perfect ending is perverted into what they want. :annoyed2: that's exactly the same here! I shall go to my grave believing T&T over whatever rubbish Disney decides they want to add. I've read that same quote... and as I've said before: it's only logical to have it that way...
I just wish they could've or would've added that scene that just confirms it so the worrying and confusion could be over!

Glad to hear! :-D they totally did outdo themselves with the bloopers at least... :P oh, all of those were amazing too (the "do somethin' else" is still probably one of my favorites)! although I'm sure you can still imagine why the Tom and Johnny ones were my all-time faves. ;)

The second I saw "I like Riddles" I had an idea you might like it. ;) Aye, that one did make me laugh too... Pintel was all like "and we'll be those poor bloats" and it was funny. (that's true! Ugh, sometimes Disney just makes me so mad! But you have a point two, nonessential scenes are better than none at all *coughlikeDMCcoughcough*

I was a little disappointed there was no commentary too. :( But I'm sure that's exactly why... Disney didn't want T&T talking TOO much about the curse thing and probably other things too. :annoyed2: well, I suppose there's always hope for a extended edition, right?

hehe, huzzah for loving all those things about the bonus features, Pip! Oh, yes his commentary on the Captains Deleted Scene was great... I also loved how he said he just liked the idea of two grown men fighting over a ship. That's what I find so fun about it too. :teehee: really? I suppose that strange AWE video game (trust me... it was STRANGE when you played a level as Beckett and he acted like Jack and women slapped him and stuff!) taught me something about Mistress Ching. :P I didn't know the three qualifications either... it was very interesting.

Drew, aye. and the more I've seen select scenes in AWE (and the whole thing through ;)) the more I realize Jack makes up a very little part of it... I prefer Barbossa to Jack actually as far as that part of the comedy goes. Mr. Rush really does "own" Barbossa. :teehee:

Anyway, all of you are doing a lot better than me with the bonus features. :P I’ve watched a few… the Brethren Court one was fantastic, but the “Tale of Many Jacks” scared me too much to finish it… and then, yeah… the Sao Feng and Keith Richards stuff I never really intend to watch. :erm: but I am glad to see this breathed some life into this thread. :teehee:

EDIT:
*reads over post* I sure did a lot of Disney "bashing" didn't I? :P "mark me words" I don't mean it as bad... they just frustrate me sometimes.

^ Yes, you did! ;) It's kind of odd to see you angry... you seem like such a mild mannered person most of the time! :P

That's very weird of Disney, though. Kind of unfair to T&T, really. (Though I think if Will did have to go back to the Dutchman it would still be good of Lizzie to stay true to the father of her child and the man who "died" for her. ;)) I don't see Disney as conspiring against the writers, but what they're doing doesn't make any sense. I mean, if they didn't want T&T to say anything about it in a commentary, they could just tell them so, or cut out the parts where they do mention it.
It's okay. :) It is very annoying!

@ Drew... I felt like there were more than usual on this one, too! Which is always a good thing! ;) Poor Johnny and Tom... clearly they are not the most coordinated of people... :teehee:

@ Anie... Thanks. :) Luckily Christmas is on the way! :D
Perhaps! I could definitely see Will fighting a huge shark or something. :P Though I think he had his fair share with the Kraken, in the end. ;) Me neither. "Indeed. "Do you think he plans it all out, or just makes it up as he goes along?" :teehee:

@ goldelf... I totally agree. :D They were much better than the DMC ones, anyway. So far, I still need to watch the Keith Richards one, the anatomy of a scene, and the last part of Hans Zimmer still. Ooh, the hidden one sounds cool as well!

@ Dark... It's so great to see you! True, I didn't expect it to be so... sparkle-ly! :o :P I agree with everything you said... except perhaps the part about Will's death. :eyeroll: ;)

@ manwathiel... Thank you. :) I love how all three Pirates included bloopers! It seems that most DVDs don't include them, which is a shame.

By the way, everyone, is it me, or does Will's death get harder to watch each time. :'(

^Nope, makes it easier every time... *sniggles*

*is actually enoying not being the onyl super crazy Will fangirl on the thread*

(meant that in the necest way possible ladies)

I thought that the extras were actually kind of lacking, I mean on DMC, there were 5+ hours of extras, and I think I watched all of the AWE extras in 1 1/2 hours or so. I was slightly dissapointed, and I expected more. It being the "last' movie and all.

Taur, yeah... sorry, I dunno what I was doing that day but I was probably getting short tempered with Disney as it was. And as I've told some of you before, when someone hurts something/someone I like I can get ugly... :erm: and this time it just happened to be Disney that got my anger because of their stupid antics.

hmmm, I dunno if it's all that weird of Disney... they've done some other strange things before it seems like... :erm: and it is very unfair to the writers! :( (I know! And if I know anything about her character I think Liz probably would've remained forever loyal too... ;)) oh, I'm not so sure about that. Disney forced that Jack/Elizabeth stuff pretty hard and they did change some things for it... Maybe it wasn't meant maliciously, but they still did it. Eh, I won't even try to understand how or why they work the way they do... whatever. :eyeroll:

Oh, dear... confession time. actually to me Will's death gets just a tad easier... :hide: (not much though... not like our dear Darky over there ;)) it's still extremely hard to bear, but in a way it's also easier... I mean he DOES come back. So I have to say it's definitely not getting harder to bear.... what is, is Norrie's death and especially Becky's. Those still cause me such heartache to watch! :'(

PD, I have noticed that too, as I have rewatched the movies. I think that he makes up a large part of it...but not nearly as much as he could have.
No offence meant but I think that I prefer Jack. I like Barbossa and all but I just like Jack better. (shrugs) Rush and Depp both do brilliant jobs at portraying their characters though and I can't imagine anyone else playing Barbossa or Jack.
Oh, don't worry about it. I understand what you are saying. In fact, I agree that Disney did seem to push certain thngs. (nods)
ps I love your new "One Day" sig set. :)

Taurquende, Yes, there did seem to be more on this one. (nods) I second that! Tom and Johnny really don't seem to be very coordinated people! lol
I honestly am not sure. In a way it does but in a way it doesn't. What I mean is that it is easier in that you know that it is coming so you can brace yourself for it. However it is harder in that you know it is coming...and therefore get upset before that part even arrives. If that makes any sense at all. (laughs)
Anyway I still think that that is one of the most beautiful scenes in all of movie history! (sighs and hugs Will)

I read the little book that came with the dvd as well. Quite frankly...I became more than a little mad at it. If they were going to "end" it like that, I would have prefered that they had just left it up to viewer interpertation. At least that way the Willabeth fans (such as myself) could have invissioned Will's beautiful return to Mrs. Turner (Elizabeth) and William James. Then the Sparrowbeth fans could have thought that Will was bound to the Flying Ducthnman forever and Liz cheated on Will with Jack and they (Jack and Liz) lived a happy life together. As a third option (for non Liz fans) they could have beleived that she fell off that steep island cliff. Um or they could have thought that Liz met a new man, she was later paired with Barbossa, um...Will was freed from the Flying Dutchman and met a new girl....Will lived in the locker...he sprouted wings and flew away into the sunset (laughs)....just whatever they wanted to think! That way you pleased Allmost everyone. (laughs)...okay that is enough exercise for my imagintion for one day...(coughs)
Personaly though I would have liked it best if they had added the deleted scene that explained that Will was free after ten years if Elizabeth was faithful to him. (sighs) Being s Will (and Willabeth) fan that was the ending I had my heart set on. (shrugs)
I too am also a bit upset that they did not have any commentary. I would have liked to have heard what Ted and Terry had to say and the actors for that matter (epsecialy Orli as he was never on any of the Pirates of the Caribbean commentary)!

Sadly, nope. I saw the word "OBsessed" on some of the Orli sites that I lurk on (when I want Orli news) and I thought that it was cute too. So I started using it :)
You are welcome. I am sure that you would have too! (nods) :)

Oh, well, that's really neat! I've never heard that term and I don't think I'm *quite* a big enough fan to use it but it's still really cute.
Aww, thanks! Sometimes I'm a tad slow, but I usually come up with an answer sooner or later. ;)

Ooh, I wish I'd tried that! :teehee: Although the Target people are probably used to anything...but it might've been fun to see what would happen. If it makes you feel any better, I had to wait until like 7:30 PM before all my homework was done and Dad could drive me. :annoyed2: But at least it finally happened! :D

You're very welcome! I like being positive, even though it annoys some people. :teehee:
Isn't it ironic that the ONE Disney couple that is portrayed with some accuracy as to what a "real" relationship should be like is denied their happy ending, while all the other Disney couples, which are fraught with fantasy and for the most part extremely unrealistic, get off practically scott-free? :yeahright: Good for us! We are loyal T&T and Willabeth fans to the end! ;)

They really did! Well, yes, somehow I knew you'd like those. :P I bet Tom Hollander is a great guy in real life - anyone who's willing to whistle and skip on camera can't be too bad!

However did you guess? :P Yeah, I think that one deleted scene pretty much made the extra $10 worth it, lol. Rags makes me smile. (Didn't potr or JF or somebody say they found Easter Egg deleted scenes on the two-disc DMC or something like that? Not that it matters because if there are I can't watch them, but still.)

Mmph. I'm still not pleased. :disgusted: But you're right! "There is still hope." ;)

Strange AWE video game? Which one? I haven't played any of them so I don't know what you're talking about, but it sounds hilarious! Beckett acting like Jack... Yeah, I'd pay to see that. :teehee:

By the way, everyone, is it me, or does Will's death get harder to watch each time. :'(

Aye! There is that! :D (that's what I keep telling myself about Spider-Man 3. ;))
Oh, that'd be awesome! "[Will Turner], [shark] slayer!" I guess he did, but it'd still be interesting, don't you argee? :P Oh, I'm so proud of you! You picked a great quote!  :D

Um, actually I've never cried when Will died. I'm not sure why. But I still twitch when Davy stabs him and when he's twisting the blade, because it's a gut reaction or something. :(

Suuuure you did, Darky. :P JK! I know what you mean. It must be kind of nice to have a husband that isn't so popular, huh? :)

Actually, I know what you mean. It says "hours of special features" on the DVD case, and I guess technically it's like TWO hours. But I was kind of expecting a bit...more. I don't know, maybe the LOTR EEs have just ruined me for other DVDs or something. :teehee:

Hi there Fae! Good to see you!
It's perfectly fine, we understand. This time of year is a little crazy for all of us. :)
Really? Why are you disappointed? (if you don't mind sharing)
