What would have Aragorn and Arwen's wedding been like? A solumn wedding mass followed by an out of control reception, or just some vows, a quick kiss and in the tower we go...

My impression of The wedding would there would have to be a lot of singing and tears, most of the weeping done by Elrond, followed by a fancy meal and some dancing.

What your idea of it be?

I think it would be more happy for everyone, except Elrond of course. After all, their greatest enemy was destroyed and the people have a new (and sane) ruler. So I think it would a big party with lots of celebrating and everyone having a good time.

sane ruler

Hm. I'd say lots of drink, food, hugs, laughs, jokes, Legolas/Gimli bickering, probably a Mary Sue or two coming from Earth (those are very popular nowadays ), Elrond looking sad and disapointed, Elrohir and Elladan waiting for new assignments, Frodo & Sam somewhere at the table, Samwise eating, Frodo listening and talking, Merry chatting with either Eowyn or Pip, Pip talking and eating, Eowyn and Faramir snogging in the nearest room :P ... LoL I've almost written an essay about this ^^

A nice wedding, formal, whatever formal for a king's wedding was then, and then dinner and dancing afterwards. The hobbits would probably be talking, eating (a lot), and definantly drinking a lot too. Pip and Merry would probably be drunk and trying to dance. Eowyn would be snogging Faramir, and Arwen would be snogging Aragorn while Elrond watches them disapprovingly and sad at the same time. Legolas and Gimli bickering or talking. Legolas snogging me (just kidding...) and yeah just a lot of partying all around. :)

Hmm...I'd say it would be a joyous occasion for those who did not understand so much the importance. For the rest it would be bittersweet. The rest being Elrond, Aragorn, Arwen...

anyway, the way i really imagine it would be sort of a solemn ceremony type thing...although...they don't have priests in middle-earth...who would have performed it? :confused2: and afterward a huge feast type gathering...a long table with a lot of commotion. and there would probably be a touch of sadness from the elvish folk in the hall, since they know arwen's not going with them, and they are leaving to the west. i think elrond would be happy for his daughter, but still his heart would be broken that she does not choose to leave for valinor.

I think the actually wedding vow thing would be very intamint (i cant spell. Just sound it out. My word document isn't working, so I cant get the correct spelling, and I have no idea where the dictionary is) The wedding would only contain a few people, the fellow ship, Elrond, Galadriel, Celeborn, but after, the party, is when the real party would begin. There would be a massive amount of people, and yes, lots of snogging (Mostly Faramir and Eowyn), drinking, and eating. Pretty much every one in middle earth would be invited.

Snogging? Is this a British term? I gather it means kissing.
I actually think there would be very little kissing. Especially between Faramir and Eowyn. This is Arwen and Aragorn's wedding, not theirs, and they'd really have no reason to kiss.
I think, especially in that time, kissing was something that people did in private, more than in public.

what's snogging ? (i'm german... forgive me ;) )

I think, they would have at first a traditional ceremony with much singing and lots of poems speaken by elrond or gandalf...
after that, the real party begins: merry and pip are dancing and singing on a table, i think they would be a bit drunken ;)
elrond wouldn't be so happy but i think he coud forget his sorrows for a while and talk with gandalf and aragorn and so on...

I think it would be a big party :-D

:bye2:

"Gandalf would skin us alive!" Merry whispered. "Besides, we can't make trouble on Strid- Aragorn's wedding day!" He, along with the rest of the Hobbit's would have to work on remembering the correct name.

"It's Elessar now." Sam leaned toward the two, grinning as another blast lit up the sky. “and you’d do well to remember it.â€

I always thought an Elven wedding would be performed by the bride's father. Like with Beren and Lùthien, they just went to Thingol and were married on the spot, the father gives his permission and bam! there we go.

Hello :) . I think there should be some Elvish air singing, maybe remembering ( Beren and Luthien(?)) ~ right now I am reading "The Simarillion" so I may not get the famous couple right, sorry if I haven't  . Finally, some dancing. Well, that's it. Again, sorry for the choppiness of my writing.
