I've seen a multitude of different names around this forum, all ranging from the most simple to long and complicated, so - how did you get them? Name generator? Arwen-Undomiel.com Elvish Names? Made it up yourself? It'd be fun to know

My name, Ororuthiel, came from a name generator I found about two/three years ago. I don't know what the generator is now, but it gave you an Elf name, Hobbit name, Dwarf name and an Orc name (I think), and I typed in a slight variation of my real name to come up with Ororuthiel I also had the name of Aruthiel for a while, a variation of Ororuthiel, in an RPG long ago, so some of you may regonise me from that.

Anyway... how did you get yours?

My Site - Alba Illuminata

My real name is Vivianett but my friends call me Vivi. I didn't want to sound plain, so I added Elessar because it's the name of Aragorn as king and I really love that name It wasn't hard.

I chose the name Raivynn as I liked the name Raven. But to make it unique to me, I tinkered about with the spelling. Just over 3 and a half years ago, I took it as my craft name. The Phoenix represents my fire spirit.

Ok, mine's not really hard to figure out. Let's say I was "inspired" by the game TIG that Dom and Billy made up, so the name ~Tigging with Dom~ was born.

Well I checked A-U for the Elvish names and found that Erulissë means Anna which is my real name. And then I just added Eneth Nîn so that ErulissëEnethNîn translates to "My name is Anna".

i'm really interested in vikings, their culture, mythology, and so forth. plus they are a part of my heritage. i am scandinavian on both sides of my family...although i can get a little carried away with my 'viking pride' sometimes...lol

Well, my long name history begins with me getting this increddable urge to learn Sindarin several years a-back. I was never realy good at remebering thing so I would give randome people around my school different crude names to help me remember so of the words. (Lalaithriel, Vanyestel, Featur, Brandorod, Arthbrethil, ect.) And in doing that I myself gained lots of names from many people and or groups of people.(Lindir, Linaew, Meaglin, Galenlas, belegdolmed, Celegtal, ect.) and after awhile it got quite confusing being called one name by one person and another by a different person so I finaly settled on one name, Niresse, which simlpy means Many Names.

Now I probably bored all of your ears off.

I made mine up. It just sort of, popped into my head. I wasn't sure about it at first, but my friend liked it so that is now my name.

Ohoo...weeeeelll...>sits down comfortably< Where to start? I suppose I might start by asking everyone if they can possibly GUESS where I got my name. I spent a long time on it actually. I scanned all the Elvish I could find, looking for something that would fit me or something I liked, but so far the only thing that kept coming back to me was how much I loved Elrond. But calling myself "Elrond" seemed way too plain, plus there was already a member here called "Elrond", and stuff like Miss Peredhil or Elrondlover just seemed WAY too out of wack. So finally I decided to call myself SOMETHING"Girl". I was a girl, so that was at least a step. But now what? ElrondGirl? No way. It was still too obvious...and rather boring too. So finally, I thought of something that reminded me a little bit more of the color blue, which is my favorite color, rather than yellow or red. "Stardome", which is what Elrond's name means in the common tongue, and then "Girl". StardomeGirl. It looked okay to me, so I've been sticking with it ever since. Sorry for the long explanation, but it is quite a tedious history, no?

P.S. Oh, and I did try to find out what my real name was in Elvish...but it was so long and wierd-sounding that you couldn't have pronounced it if you were an English professor...

haha, funny, i was thinking about starting a thread like this.

anyway, as Beriadanwen is sure not to think anymore, my real name is not Gwenneth!! know that! i think it's a beautiful name, but i want everyone to know it's not mine in real life since it is a name. trust me. i did Google search and found it was so.

so anyway, how i got it: i basically used a name generator at the Council of Elrond. it's my real name in Sindarin. although i believe at CoE, you can also find your Rohirric and Quenya name. spiffy, huh? (my name in Rohirric name is Beliwit - or something like that)

so yeah. nothing else to say, i guess.

oh yeah, i'm affectionately (sp?) known as Gwen. feel free to call me that...
