I can't actually pick a favorite companion. I like them all. I even like Donna. I really do. Maybe I didn't dislike any of them because I spent all my time gazing lustfully at the Doctor

^ Haha, that's why in 'The Sound of Drums' the perception filter thing didn't work, because when the camera shifted, I was still staring at David Tennant. xD
... I had some story I was going to share with you guys, but now I can't remember. *sigh* This always happens to me.

Haha, that reminds me... it was completely brilliant of the writers to make the Doctor super old, so our attention was drawn to the amazing evilness of the Master. I love the Master, but I do admit that I probably wouldn't have had the chance to admire the pure evil if Tennant was there to drool over.

I guess I don't see what makes her so special. I could go on and on about that, but I won't. Because you guys are happy Doctor/Rose shippers, and I don't want to rain on your parade. Donna fails, though. I just watched the Christmas special again, because my sister wanted to, and it's horrible-ness is almost depressing. No, it IS depressing. Speaking of companions, someone said that after they watched the 'Meat' episode of Torchwood, they decided that Rhys would make a good companion for the Doctor. You know, I can see that. xD
I'm with you on the Rose thing
But I'm a hopeless Martha fan...what would I know
But I'm agreement, there's no point in debating it really as it's all personal taste at the end of the day.

i agree with everyone who said martha was better in torchwood than she was in doctor who.
i also agree that rose should stay in her parallel universe - much as i love her, i hate that the writers keep breaking their own rules. they've said that she can't get back, so she shouldn't. my last post was just meant to point out that they would do it if they wanted, because they've set a precedent with the daleks.
and yeah, rhys would be a pretty cool companion. i hadn't though of it before, but i reckon that'd work really well.

Speaking of writers breaking their own rules...
I've heard a rumor that the Doctor is regenerating at the end of this season, *SOB* and that got me to thinking.
Little known fact is that TECHNICALLY, Timelords can only regenerate thirteen times, and then they die. If Tennant ends his gorgeous reign, then they will be on to the eleventh Doctor. That means that TECHNICALLY, there can only be two more Doctors.
However, there are two ways around this that I can see. One, since the whole Thirteen Doctors thing is so little known, the writers just may choose to ignore it. Two, the Master has already broken that rule. He regenerated a fourteenth time, and he looked a little something like this and then (I don't remember the exact details here) he did something to steal another Timelord's power. But I can't honestly see the Doctor doing that, can you?
I was just pondering that at 3 this morning, when I was talking to a friend of mine from the UK. Some food for thought.

i think i can knock that rumour on the head. i went to hear one of the doctor who writers (paul cornell - father's day, human nature, the family of blood) talk about his work and faith last year, and he said that next year there will only be three one-off specials because david tennant is playing hamlet at the royal shakespeare theatre (and so presumably won't have time to film a whole series). the fact that they're working round his theatre commitments would imply that tennant will still be the doctor for the specials, so i don't think the doctor will regenerate at the end of the series. of course, things could have changed since then.
and regarding the doctors limited number of lives...funnily enough, me and my sister were talking about this earlier and we got to discussing how they would finally kill him off. i reckon they'd probably go with the utterly predictable doctor-sacrifices-himself-to-save-the-universe ending, but we though it would be better if they had the doctor (knowing he was coming to the end of his final life) settle down, live a normal life for a while, then die a normal death. he always talks about a normal life being the one adventure he can't have, so it would be nice if he could have it for a while, at the very end.

I had heard that before, but I had also heard some one say that Time Lords can give thier lives to eachother, or somthing like that. It'll be sad though, if he does go. I hope you're right, Ethelfleda.
I saw a preview for Doctor Who! As I'm sure you all know, I flipped out. The only thing that kept me quite was the fact that it was about 12:00 at night. WEEEEEEEE!

That's a good call, actually. I didn't look into why there wasn't going to be a 2009 season, but you must be right about Tennant staying around if they aren't doing a season at the same time as him doing theater. That's really comforting to me.

Ok I just saw the episode. I really don't know what to think about it. I mean it was great to see David Tennant back but I think I was still too upset last night over another television show to really notice. But one thing I'll say is I did not expect that. It nearly paralysed me.

Phh, I have to wait a few more weeks for the new episode. And another week for the new Torchwood, which I'm assuming is the show you were referring to?

Okay, though I still haven't found a solution to my Torchwood dilemma, I HAVE just seen the newest Dr Who episode...
SPOLIERS FOR MY FELLOW U.S. DR WHO FANS
Alright, I have four things to say about the episode.
1. The Adipose, though incredibly creepy, were kind of cute. They reminded me of the movie Gremlins, if any one's seen that.
2. The miming scene between the Doctor and Donna was so hilarious I actually had to pause the video because I was laughing so hard.
3. The new themesong absolutely FAILS. But Tennant's slightly different hair WINS.
4. The fact that I could watch Dr Who so early actually made up for the fact that I have to wait for Torchwood.
END SPOILERS
FOR MY FELLOW US DR WHO FANS...
May I suggest...

The sound quality is terrible, but I happen to think it's worth it, don't you?

***warning: possible spoilers***
i can't believe nobody's mentioned the end of the episode, when donna was talking to a certain blonde. i just want to know how she got there and how she disappeared again. walking between worlds? projecting herself into this one? any other suggestions?
catherine tate wasn't nearly as bad as i feared, but i do worry that she's going to turn into one of her sketch show characters everytime she gets a funny bit, which will completely ruin the humour for me. she did it last night - the "you just want to mate?" bit should have been funny, but all i could think was "she sounds like one of the characters from her show", which totally spoiled it. also, i saw her on jonathon ross on friday night and he asked her why donna had changed her mind about travelling with the doctor, and she couldn't really answer him. she just told him what russell t davies had told her, which for me proves that she's not really an actor. a true actor would have got inside their character's head and would understand why they acted the way they did, but the fact that all she could was parrot the director's instructions shows that she hadn't done that. and in my book, if she's not an actor she shouldn't be acting. it's an artform, and they shouldn't just let anyone have a bash at it.
that sort of leads me on to my little rant about the casting department. it seems to me like they've completely given up working. this series sees the return of five previous companions - donna, rose, marta, jack and sarah jane; and even more known faces than ever before - sarah lancashire and bernard cribbins in the last episode, phil davis and peter capaldi in the next, tim mcinnery and felicity kendal later on in the series (i realise most of you non-brits won't recognise them, but they're all pretty well known on british tv). these people blatantly don't audition - the casting department just picks the first actor they think of then rings them up and asks them if they want to be in doctor who. they should get off their backsides and start auditioning roles properly, and then they might actually get some better actors. no wonder it's so hard for new actors to get into the business - they don't get a chance because all the parts go to known faces purely on the basis that they're already known (and i'm not just talking about doctor who - loads of shows, films and even theatre productions do it). grrr! sorry, rant over.

~~~DEFINITE SPOILERS~~~
You know, when that certain blonde showed up, I had a slight freak out. And then she disappeared, and I got a tad angry, because I cannot handle this. The Doctor doesn't deserve that, really. The...pain, I suppose, of seeing Rose again if he can't have her. I can't even imagine how this is going to work out.
Oh, and I was also surprised by Catherine Tate. I completely despised her in The Runaway Bride, but I actually kind of liked her in this. I can see her as a companion. I am just not looking forward to her totally falling for him, as she has to. I mean, they've totally pimped out Tennant (who can blame them, he's GORGEOUS) but it's getting kind of old that every single woman he comes across falls for him.
Torchwood links: http://www.surfthechannel.com/show/tele ... hwood.html
I definetly had an OMGS moment when the blonde turned out to be You-Know-Who. Then disappearing..the hell?
Tar-Dis...absolutely agreed on the women falling for the Doctor becoming old. Which is why I have found myself doing a complete turnaround on Donna.
FINALLY!! A woman that doesn't fancy the pants off him. Yes...we KNOW David is hot, we get it. But to make every female character on the show fall over him was getting tiring. So the trailer to this series made me cautious, but I'm glad that they've distanced Donna from the Doctor romantically.
The Miming scene was just pure LOLworthy.
I said it earlier in mini-text to avoid spoilers...but I want an Adipose. Soooooooooo cute!
I don't mind so many companions showing up, it's not like it's for the whole series. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they all interact with one another.
I don't mind the famous faces so much either. It's quite nice I think.
