"Yeah, same here. This guy was chasing me for this... I guess you could call it a special ability that I have," Morgan said, shaking her head. She had thought that in the whole wide world that there might be another with abilities, but if she had bumped into one here, and now of all times, it must have been more than just coincidence that it happened...

Catalina glanced out from the window at the bewildered Paladin. She had barely dashed onto the bus, paid the driver and sank down into the seat before they were on their way again. This is getting to be far to close for comfort, she thought grimly. She then turned toward the man whom she had bumped into and also the one who had gotten her away from their pursuers. "Thanks for the save back there. I'm Catalina." she added, remembering that she did not even know his name.

"Hello, Catalina," Owen said. "I'm Dr. Owen Schaler." He smiled, knowing he was safe using his real name. He only had, oh fifteen, twenty fake IDs in his bag. He was silent for a minute as the bus moved then asked, "So, what's your story? How did you get caught up in this mess?"

I was cured all right.

"It' nice to meet you, Dr. Owen," she replied, keeping her voice low. Glancing around a brief moment to make sure that no one was listening before speaking. "Up until I was 16, I had lived a relatively comfortable-normal-life. There was no hint of who I was or what I could do. Then one September day, my family was killed in a botched robbery attempt and in whether it was my rage or utter despair, I struck the perpetrator with lightning." She paused then and averted her gaze before continuing. Shortly thereafter, I discovered that I had the power of weather manipulation." She could have given a bitter laugh then. "A lot of good that does me," she muttered in frustration. "What better way to draw attention to yourself than changing the weather?" She then stole a glance at Owen, wondering how he would react to what she said. "Ever since that day, I have been hunted by these so called Paladins. I flee from city to city and sometimes if I am lucky, I can find some measure of peace for a short time. But it never lasts. Just when I feel safe, they always come. And bit by bit, I begin to learn that as long as I live, they will never stop hunting me." she added as she shook her head in disgust. "What about you? It seems our mutual ‘friends’ have tracked you for some time now."

"Paladin?" Cale asked cautiously. He hoped desperately that he had found someone like him.

"I'm not sure. Possibly. Er... most likely I should say," Morgan said, then sighed when the two pursuees got on a bus. She kept her eyes on the two paladins that had been following them, hoping they wouldn't turn to follow her. "It's not safe here."

I’m joining!! (I hope it's still not too late!!)

Name: Dove
Age: 16

[Mutant]

Powers: Alters gravity flows (i.e. makes 100 lb weights light as a feather and vice versa which makes for pretty good fighting maneuvers as she makes herself light as a feather and paladins very heavy)

Appearance: 5’6” with long blond hair and striking blue eyes with sun-kissed skin (just a little fabrication on my own appearance te hee!!) Also, she always wears this one necklace with a red diamond in the center surrounded my smaller white diamonds, which is only one of the things she has stolen. (I like diamonds, okay?)

Personality: Slowly moved to anger and otherwise peaceful person. She’s usually very perky and bubbly. Likes the Earth, as she has an Earth-y based power. Although slow to get angry, she has Irish and French blood in her so he can have really bad tantrums (These tantrums are more like earthquakes just to put it on a scale for you.)

History: Birthplace somewhere in France, she grew up on her own, and made a living off of stolen food and supplies. By the age of ten, her powers were almost fully developed (from almost constant use.) From her time alone, she distrusts more people than she should and likes to feed the birds. On her sixteenth birthday, she met another mutant (whereabouts now unknown) for the first time and he told her she wasn’t the only one with “special gifts.” Delighted, she now has new faith in the people, hoping that someone will reveal him/herself to her someday soon…

Misc: Not knowing what her real name is or her birth parents, she calls herself Dove, after the birds, because she is light, airy, and drifts all about Europe. Also, she likes to keep a small pair of knives by her sides at all times in the event that she might need them someday.

Owen quietly sat and listened to Catalina as she talked about her life story. It's been a while since he actually listened to a girl talk. When he found out she could control the weather, he merely chuckled, entertaining the though that she was deliberately changed the weather to fool the weather man. Finally, when she finished and asked for his, he sighed and was silent for a minute.

"Well, pretty much the same," Owen said. "Came from England when I was a wee lad. Found out I wasn't quite right when two guys in dark suits and menacing watches burst their way into my dorm in med school. Next thing I know, one of them got his arm burned and the other one frozen. A bit nice, it is. Controlling both fire and ice." He winced slightly. "I got the hint that I couldn't stay anywhere when I checked into an hotel about five miles away from my med school. To be honest, I was only one year away from getting my degree. But I'm just as good as the others so I figured I might as well use the title "Doctor". I wander around, go wherever my will takes me. If I'm short with money, I just steal from Paladin-operated banks. Occasionally I let myself known so they can try to catch me. They never do though. Kind of an extreme sport, really. But I assure you, I really didn't want them here. I did like this city." He sighed again before saying in a rather manner-of-fact way, "So what are our next plans?"

Catalina listened to Owen's story quietly and she was struck by the parallels in their tales. After she finished she sighed heavily. "I can understand how you feel, for I have grown to love this too. As for what to do now, I am not too sure. When I ran into you, I had just escaped from another Paladin-so my leave was somewhat unplanned. But as I see it now, we can either flee to another city or try to find someplace where we may be able to hideout for sometime. Do you know of any good locations left?" she asked.

Tina walks down the street. Hearing footsteps behind her she mutters a hurried curse but doesn't turn around, knwing it would give her away. She gets spun around roughly and looks into the rough face of a man slightly taller than her, with dark hair and eyes to match.

"Can I help you?" She asked, in a somewhat off-hand tone of voice.

"You're-" He doesn't get a chance to finish, because Tina's right hand smashes into his nose, breaking it. Tears stream down his face, and her sinks to his knees. Tina looks down at him for a moment.

"Sorry about that, force of habit." She tells him, before hitting him over the head with a handy metal pipe. He falls to the floor, and tina drops the pipe quickly before running in the opposite direction to the one she came from. Shouts come from behind her, and she curses loudly, gaining stares from close passers-by. She gives them a wide smile before turning a corner into a quiet alley.

Mara terned into an ally when she thought she was a safe distes away. Thinking that it might be safer she terned into an ally cat and sat out side a small stors door. As she rested she watched every one who pased, never sparing her a glance. Just the why she liked it.

"Well," Owen started with what he hoped to be a confident voice then ended pitifully, "No idea." He stared out the window before saying, "I think we can find a motel or somewhere near the outskirts. Paladins tend to overlook them, especially given my reputation. Once there, we can work out another plan and we'll move on from there, I guess."

"Well, then let's plan on doing that then. With any luck we will be able to avoid further detection until we can come up with a better idea," Catalina replied. She then stared out the window, looking at the endless buildings that they were passing by without seeming to notice anything. "Do you know anything about the head of the Paladins?" she asked Owen finally in a low voice so that only he could hear her.

"Yeah," Owen said quietly. "We should do that then." He was silent for a minute and replied, "I don't know about the Paladins, really. All I know is that they're trying to kill me because of what I am." The bus came to a stop at one of the stops. He got up, saying to Catalina, "Here's our stop."

Mikey and Lark biked as fast as they could on the path that they thought might lead them to Seattle. They did not end up there, but managed to sneak across the border to another city.

Mikey was already panting when they reached a bus stop. There was a bus already there and it looked like people were going to get off. Lark grinned,"Come on Mikey, we may soon find people who are being chased by Paladins as well, may they can help us!" His brother only continued panting and nodded helplessly.
