Right now it's Uncle Tom's Cabin that I'm studying.... it's a very good and touching story! Better than I ever thought it'd be...

I saw Tartuffe as a play last fall. It was a pretty hilarious production but sweet heavens a lot of text you'll have to read! :-)

The Good Earth by Pearl S. Somethingorother. Really uplifting so far. Only half of the characters have died, and the other half are dying of starvation. :D It's a feel good novel.

I'm forced to read it in LA, and have a totally different view. Not only do I utterly abhor talking animal books, but HATE socialism and communism, both of which the book incorporates. Lady Dark Moon made a good point, though, when she said that George Orwell had a lot of courage to publish it during Stalinist Russia. I may not agree with George Orwell, but he did have guts.
I'm starting A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare soon and I can't wait.

At first it sounded interesting. Hey! A book about Africa's first contact with Europe! Cool!

Poor bunny... *pets*

Currently reading Dante's Inferno for English Lit. It's quite a fascinating read so far, and I'm hoping we'll get to read the other 2 parts of the Divine Comedy at a later date.

Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray. I think I would like this book more if our teacher didn't make us read at least 50 pages every Thursday night. Granted, I could read the assignment earlier in the week, but that would defeat the purpose because then I would forget all the stupid little details we have to know for the quizzes. :eyeroll: I like the style though, some of Thackeray's comments as the Omnipotent Author make me laugh.

And also we're inching our way through Macbeth. We haven't gotten very far, and I'm sufficiently creeped out already.
