Yeah i know... lol I was just wondering if anyone had a rough estimate or an idea.

As far as work, I wouldn't have to drive to work since right now that is just on my family farm.

Also food, I could suplement a lot of it with picking fruit over the summer that grows around as well as milking my cow and such.

As Smeaglobal said, it really does depend on where you live and such...For example, I rent a studio apartment, and I pay 425ish a month for rent, and heating is errr 80some dollars....electricity is about 10....and...water is about 40...And that's just for my living quarters, not counting my food and other stuff....

:teehee: And now everyone knows my expenses xD Yikes!

Well, I would be living in my own house. I've already got the house even though it's not in verry good shape it would do for many more years.

Your expenses (for what you listed) would be about 1800 a year then... which isnt that bad in my opinion.

However I would heat with a wood stove so there would only be a gass bill if I had it turned on for the stove.

hm... *thinks*

Perhaps then I could do it. *shrugs* Definitely wouldn't have a phone connected so no bill there. (I hate phones with a passion)

With getting my own food, planting a garden each year, heating with a wood stove.... it may be possible.

You will probably want to put some money out there for food and not depend solely on your garden because no one really knows what the weather will be like and how your garden will hold up.

I don't really think I will be living on my own realy soon... but I am always tryign to figure out just what it would take so that way when the time comes I will be ready. (although I wish it was sooner than later)

Honestly, you probably should make sure you get a college degree. It is really needed for truely profitable jobs, even though there are a few expections to the rule.

Yeah, I know it's a good idea but i really don't have the money to pay for that either and I would be miserable going off to some place I don't know and staying with a bunch of peopel i don't know etc...

But who knows.. maybe one of these days.

*randomly jumps into the conversations*

I wasn't sure if I'd like college either, when I first started. I've been homeschooled for most of my life, and I'm a pretty shy person, so I was a bit concerned about meeting a bunch of new people. It's been great, though. It's a whole new experience than what I was used to. I'm learning a lot, not only academic-wise, but also in dealing with people, working in a group, etc. I've made some good friends.

As far as money goes, I was concerned about that, too. My parents had put away some money in a fund for me, but I'm working a part time job that pays... not the greatest. So far, though, I've been fine. The school has financial aid and scholarships available (plus, this school is pretty inexpensive as tuition goes).

I'm still living at home, which has helped me financially, and helped me make the transition between being homeschooled to going to college.

Anyway, I'd suggest maybe looking at some options before you decide what you want to do. I'm sure colleges would be happy to talk to you, tell you what sort of financial aid they have, etc. And now I will stop sounding like an advertisement for college. :teehee:

You could always try and online college. However, the experience of college will definetly help in the real world, just getting to know people.

I will, myself, offically be a college student. August, 30th, 2008!!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Yeah, I get what you are sayign Elenya
. I have been home schooled my entire life in a town of about 100 people and had 2 friends my entire life.... needless to say I am quite shy and uncomfortable around people.

Also, though, i wonder about my commitment. I don't know that I would enjoy college enough to try hard enough to pass... *shrugs*

I did take a college level writting course through the mail smeagollum, so I have been looking into that stuff some as well.

And congrats on getting into college. :) :bounce:

Well, unfortunately, I have to say that a portion of life isn't about enjoying it, but doing it because you know you have to.

Thought it was about time to drag this club back to page one...
Most of you guys are probably busy with exams/finals/school projects, but perhaps you have time to drop a word on how it's going... what are your plans for summer... how is life in general for you guys are the moment?

My exams start in two weeks... They're in Spanish.. I'm dreading it already!! When I'm done at the end of June I'll be sort of backpacking.. in Spain and Southern Spain.. 'sort of' because we are limited to two weeks... but still! :-)

Well, I was done a couple of weeks ago....with school...for the semester. I'm planning on taking a summer class in a few weeks "Introduction to the Arab World", it's going to be a piece of cake. So, I'm not worried about it at all. I'm also Bagpiping this summer at some events, so that should be fun...We have a Highland games coming up....I don't know if I'll go...perhaps. Hmm....yeah, we got our grades back...I got 2 A's and 2 B+'s. Yay!

Life right now is just filled with work and outfitting my bagpiping uniform, which is harder than it sounds because most of the stuff is for very large men, which I am the complete opposite of.

*grins happily* No school for me! nope...

Done with highschool and don't think I'll move on to college... i'd probably end up flunking half the classes anyway.

Well... I am taking 1 through-the-mail writing course that is college level... but its very easy. they give me like 3 weeks to get done what I could do in 1 day..... *shrugs*

Other than that it just taking care of my goats... and trying to find somethign else to fill my booring life...

Thought about getting a real job instead of goats and music... but every one I look at someone tells me.. "Oh, that wouldn't be a very good job.."

besides the fact I never drive anywhere so I don't have a driverse licens because I never have any time to actually.... drive... for practice....

O_0 ok.... shutting up now

Awww hello wonderful people *waves to Jax and Sida* So good to see you again.
I was thinking of throwing a party here... how about an informal garden-party.. you know buffet style and with big cusions and hammocks so people can just drop by whenever they have time... We need to do something to attract people!!
Anyway, I'll put up the hammocks... :P

Sida, I think it's really cool you play the bacgpipe.. I don't think I've asked you how you got started and how long you've played for...
Sounds nice to be done with school. Are you taking other courses over summer other that the Arab one? Personally, I wouldn't feel like going to school over summer but you Americans have such a long summer break! :-)

Hola Jax... how are you doing? Is it going well with you and your parents, if you don't mind me asking? I mean perhaps you reached some kind of mutual agreement of allowing yourselves a little more space... sorta give and take-agreement...
Actually, I think it would be a good experience to have a job, at least you could try a part time job so you till had time for your goats and other chores. You can never tell how you would like it only based on other peoples' opinions, and you sound like you long for new experiences. Umm.. well, you didn't ask for my opinion so I won't try to force you into something... of course it's entirely up to you. :D
