For: any who enjoy or are *seriously* interested in sword-play.
(By the way, if you ever need any help, in sword fighting that is, I'd be more than glad to.)
By the way, for all those fencer-wannabe's, who aren't able to take lessons... take hope!!! I taught myself with a wooden sword (pretty sad, aye?) from watching fencing movies, and taking instructional courses online.
And now that I finally have gotten to take lessons, I could just start at advanced, rather than beginner or intermediate.
Just goes to prove, if you want something bad enough... you can always get it.

I'll join! But uh... next time you make a club, I think you need to ask Kitoky on the 'Guidelines...Request Thread' Thread.
I love to "Play" Fence with my sis, we just play with sticks, it was really funny last time because she had two HUGE sticks, one in each hand, and I had one really long, really skinny stick, and I actually wasn't loosing, until she hit my thumb really hard, then it turned purple...

I will SO join this "guild" if you'll let me!
I'm a fellow fencer! I actually started fencing a couple years ago. At my highschool, we have what's called a "Senior Project" and we each have to learn something...yada yada...research...paper. Whatever. Get it?
Anyways, I found a fencing club at our university and joined. I've been doing it ever since. I'm fairly alright with a foil. I just like to poke people. Ha ha ha....except, I start laughing most of the time...because when we're all wearing the gear, I feel like I'm poking the Pilsbury Doughboy!! Ha ha ha. I'm trying to learn Epee...but yeah. Most of the time, we just have an all out onslauhgt. Each fencer for themselves! Mwa ha ha ha ha! It gets quite entertaining...because sometimes people will have a foil in one hand and an epee or sabre in the other and try and fight that way. It gets interesting because will these all out duels, we try to stay be the rules of each weapon. Ha ha ha. Oh man. *shakes head* Yay for fencers!!!

I have not 'fenced' with my sibs for a long time..we use sticks alot, and one time, in our old town, we lived by some rail-road-tracks, and there was these kids on the other side, and we HATED them., so one time, me and my 4 other sibs, went and fought them with our 'swords' (sticks )
it was fun

LOL! That's cool; my nephew (who is a yeah younger than I) used to do something similar in archery. We would blunt our arrows, and shoot them at the neighbors goat (that thing was a beast.)
I just recently bought some Spanish Rapier Fencing swords.... oooooh! They are so cool!!Do you guys know anything about swords? Or fencing styles?
I like fencing sabre, and preferably witha rapier. Broadswords are heavy.

It's like combining fencing and gymnastics and rehearsals. [/quote]

o.o I'll join. Although I'm officially not a member of the forum anymore
I love fencing. I don't actually fence, but whenever I get a stick in my hand and a bush or w/e in front of me: poor bush
I wish I had someone to "play" with, too. I had, for a while, but we kinda grew tired of it

Ooh! A fencing club! I'd love to join.
I fence at my school (high school), which has fencing as a club sport (meaning it doesn't practice as often as regular sports, and we haven't had a competition in...a few years , but we still get PE credit ). I've been doing it for about a year now, so I am pretty good with a foil. Also my dad, who used to fence in college, once taught me a few moves with a sabre (basic blocks).
I wanted to learn to fence for a long time before I actually got the chance...inspired (at least partly) by movies like The Princess Bride, Zorro, and The Three Musketeers.

We also have a fencing class at our university! I tried joining last semester, but it was full. And I didn't even try this semester. But I'm in the club, and I personally think that's more fun because most of the people have been doing it for a while and we all know eachother. Fencing Maiden wrote: LOL! I actually wrote a paper on fencing, and it's history and such. Actually very interesting. The Sabre has the coolest history in my mind. And as one of the guys in my club said, "It's basically used for hacking people in half while you're on a horse." Ha ha ha.
I'd really love to buy some actual swords...and I just need to get my own gear. Bleh!
Last summer (of 2005), I went to Nebraska for the International Thespian Festival (our high school was invited) and they had all these workshops that you could attend. And they actually had one for theatrical sword fighting. I enjoyed that a lot.

if you talk about fencing, I really enjoyed the time when I did that but I was not so successful that I had to quit unfortunately. I think I am not meant to be created as a swordsman in particular

Can I join? I am Elven Archer's sis, and like she said, we love "fencing" with everything from sticks to towles to knitting needles I don't know to much about actual fencing, just a little about sword-play, and about swords themselves... I just try not to hurt my sisters
