It was a normal day when I hiked into town,
Busy streets with people running around.
But the heart I held told a story grim,
And the stairs I received showed a hatred dim.
Judge and jury with an ax and a blade,
One day to live so I cried and I prayed.
But then in the night fighting broke out,
A scream to my left, to the right is a shout.
I escaped that night with the heart in my hand,
I escaped into exile in a far distant land.
But they followed me there chasing me down,
Persuing my trail in the name of their crown.
I never told them the way things had gone,
I never told them how things went so wrong.
How I got this heart that rests in my hand,
To recall events I just could not stand.
Now I'm wanted, dead or alive,
Although dead is for what they strive.
But when she died and faded away,
Her last words I heard her say.
"Save my heart, my soul is free.
Save my heart and berry me."
I watched as the rest of her faded away,
Evaporating in the heat of the day.
There lay her heart, her body above.
So I picked up the heart of the woman I loved.
