A buddy of mine recently tokenized shares in his startup and said it should make it easier for early investors to exit. But when I asked if anyone had actually sold their tokens yet, the answer was... not really. So now I’m wondering — does tokenization really unlock liquidity, or is it just a cool idea that hasn’t played out in practice yet? Would love to hear from anyone who's seen it actually work.

I’ve been part of a fractional real estate project that used tokenization, and yeah — it was marketed as “liquid,” but in reality, the trading part only worked if there were active buyers, which wasn’t always the case. It helped with flexibility, but not instant liquidity like stocks. If you want a clearer picture of how it all works in the real world, click here — they explain both the upside and the bottlenecks.

A few platforms I follow have started integrating secondary markets, but the volume’s still pretty low from what I’ve seen. I guess it’s one of those things that might pick up as more people get comfortable with the concept, but right now, it feels like it’s in that early adopter phase. Curious to see how fast that changes over the next year or so.
