Supposedly each entry was supposed to be spoofing what would have happened if the LotR movies had been condensed into a single short movie, but since not all of the entries quite followed this guideline, the winners were picked as the overall funniest entries in general.

Blend Challenge Round One Winners I'd like to congratulate everybody who entered the challenge: all 27 of you. Your work was amazing, and I could hardly bear to pick just three winning blends. Please keep an eye out for round two of the blend challenge, as I'd love to see your work again!
For those of you who are interested in how I judged the entries, here's the rundown:
First, I perused all of the entries and picked out the ones that especially caught my eye. It wasn't a very scientific process; all it consisted of was a scan of how well the images were blended, the clarity of the pictures, etc. There were eleven entries that I decided to take to the next stage. I scored these eleven on a scale of 1-5 in the areas of sharpness/clarity, degree of difficulty, color use, originality, use of text, degree of blended-ness, and pleasing to the eye-ness. I averaged the score of each, and although I didn't pick the winners completely by their final scores, the scoreboard definitely helped me narrow the field down to three contestants, from which I had a family member co-pick the winners. |
