Maralyn Imladiel sat on the balcony of her brother's house, a lone figure against the setting sun. Her pose was rigid, and her hands were clasped firmly in her lap. Her soft brown eyes shone with unshed tears as she gazed down upon her beloved city. Imladris will never be the same, she thought as she watched a squirrel racing across an empty street. Only that morning, the she-elf had bid farewell to yet another group of Elves who had decided to journey to the White Shores. However, this parting had been especially painful; Maralyn’s grandfather, Celion, had been among the Elves to set off. For this reason, a mist of gloom had settled over Maralyn’s heart. True, she and her grandfather had never gotten along, and had even quarreled to the point of shouting once or twice, but Celion had been one of her kin, one of her only kin, and his leaving Imladris spelled grief for all those who chose to remain in the place of their birth.
The sound of footsteps was heard, and Maralyn's younger brother, Taranu, joined her on the balcony. "I thought I'd find you up here," he said in a soft voice, touching her lightly upon the shoulder. Maralyn did not reply, but merely motioned to the outskirts of the Elven city, where the construction of a wall had begun to take place. "What is Imladris coming to, gwador nin?" she asked, her tone sad, almost mournful. "In ages past, we had no need of such fortification; the power of the Elves, particularily Lord Elrond's, was enough to shield us from harm."
"All that has changed since Lord Elrond left for the Undying Lands," Taranu replied, his gaze lingering on the unfinished wall. "We must find other ways to protect ourselves now." He turned to his sister. "Have you heard that a small band of orcs has been sighted near the border? Morhilion saw them early this morning."
"I have heard, but I doubt it is anything serious. If they come too near, we can always ambush them."
Taranu smiled wryly. "Isn't it always you who tells us not to take orcs lightly? There could be danger behind all this."
Maralyn fell silent, then stood up, her dark purple skirts rustling about her. "If you think an alarm should be raised, then I will not stand in your way. Good night, Taranu." Without waiting for a reply, the she-elf turned on her heel and disappeared into the house, her mind deeply troubled.

Basically, this is a Rivendell RP set in the Fourth Age. Most of the Elves have left for the Undying Lands, and the ones who have chosen to stay in Middle Earth are struggling to get by. An unknown terror grows in the North, and roving bands of orcs have been spotted near the borders of Rivendell. The idea of the RP is for a small party of Elves from Rivendell to venture into the North, seeking the orcs' origin. Any number of people can join.
I'll be playing Maralyn, my main charrie. Her bio may be found here.

--------------------------
As the sun disappeared, a she-elf appeared at the gate of the newly constructed wall - or part of it - and after a few low words with the guard was let in. She glanced once behind her, as though making sure she was not followed, and once inside removed the hood of her dark green cloak, revealing brilliant silver hair like spun mithril.

I'll join! I'll post my bio up, save you trying to find it within my long charrie thread.
Name: Vása
Name Meaning: Heart-of-Fire (Quenya)
Race: Half Elf
Age: 2880
Gender: Female
Hair: Dark Brown, waist length
Eyes: Almost black
Height: 6ft 3"
Horse: Asëa - http://www.equiwebs.com/dancinglight/Po ... eyMare.jpg
Parents: Holen (Mother, Rohirric) Lathron (Father, Elf)
Spouse: Fearon
Children: None
History: Vása's was born in the eary Spring and by the Winter of that year her mother, Holen, had passed away. Holen was old by the time Vása was born, she had given birth to Authion eight years before and even then she was old. Vása was very close to Authion and her father, Lathron. She grew up in Imladris and blossomed like her mother did which is why Lathron had fallen in love with her all those years before. Vása was a tomboy and although she had gowns she rarely wore them. When she was 17 she met Fearon when she went to Lorien for a while but she did not stay there for long and they soon parted. When Fearon came to Imladris the following year the two got to know each other a lot better and after 2 and a half years of courting each other, Faeron proposed to her and they were soon married.
Weapons: Sword, bow, knives. All made in Rivendell
Siblings: Authion (Brother, 4032)
------------------
Vasa rode Asea back towards Rivendell, whose bright and shining atmosphere seemed to be dimming since most of her kin left Middle Earth. Fearon was on his own steed alongside her, his soft blonde hair shimmering. They had been out for sometime, checking their lands for unseen dangers that seemed to be nearing their peacful home. There were already Elves alert and watching every hour of everyday, but Vasa was never one to just sit back and let others do the work. Fearon had protested when they had first been married, but he now knew that he could not tame the fire inside her that told her to help whenever she could. So now he just went along with her, stayed by her side in times of worry as any husband would.
Vasa turned in the saddle to look back at Fearon, he was lagging behind while gazing at the city. He sensed she was looking at him and looked at her,
"It's so quiet now. Somehow more of an eery quiet, rather than a peaceful one. Don't you think?"
Vasa smiled softly, "I agree, but it will clear. Our city will be as it was before."
She said it with confidence, but she knew it could never be the same. Fearon caught up again and they walked in silence to the stables.

Maralyn looked up from the letter she had been writing to her husband, glancing out the window. The sun had just slipped behind the Misty Mountains. "Time to feed Mor Nar," she muttered to herself. Slipping on her weathered green cloak, the she-elf made her way downstairs, then exited through a back door.
Although just risen, the moon was already shining brilliantly, small whisps of cloud occasionally floating past it. Maralyn smiled at the sight, remembering the stories her grandfather had told her of the tree Telperion, and how, even after it had been destroyed, its flower had been hallowed and crafted into a bright lamp by Varda herself. Now that same lamp seemed to smile down upon Imladris, as if it were sending a message of hope to all within.
Upon entering the stable, Maralyn stopped to survey the all-too-familiar surroundings, inhaling deeply the smell of horses and hay. She strode over to Mor Nar's stall, where her large black mare was already waiting eagerly for her. The she-elf scratched her beloved horse behind the ears, whispering, "Hello, beautiful. You hungry?" Mor Nar tossed her mane, whinnying. Maralyn laughed and began pouring oats into her horse's feed bucket.

lilaine rode hard out of her home. she packed lightly, she was going to Imladris, she could see the gates now. she saw the half finished wall and wondered what all that was about. she got into the city and headed for the stables. she jumped off her horse when she got there and walked him in and saw a young lady standing there feeding and talking to a horse. lilaine walked silently into one of the stables and petted her horse on the nose and gave him a suger cube. " thank you for getting me here so fast juniper." she kissed the horses nose. she walked out of the stables and walked quietly to the lady talking to her horse." your horse is beautiful" she said hoping not to startle the lady.

Hearing a voice behind her, Maralyn spun around, her hand automatically reaching for the hilt of her sword. However, she relaxed when she saw it was only a she-elf like herself. "Hannon le," she murmured, studying the other elf. "Pardon me for being so inquisitive, but do you dwell in Imladris? I don't recall seeing you before."

[[You spelled it right. ]]
Maralyn smiled faintly. "As did my father. I believe you made the right choice." She paused, glancing up at the moon. "I am sorry if you did not receive as warm a welcome as you would like; Imladris is not what it once was." A subtle sigh escaped her lips.

Maralyn bowed slightly, touching a hand to her forehead in traditional Elvish greeting. "Mae govannen, Lady Lilaine. I am Maralyn Imladi- AI!" The she-elf whirled around to face her horse, who had just nudged her in the back. She laughed, scratching the mare behind her ears. "...Maralyn Imladiel. And this is Mor Nar." She turned back to Lilaine. "I am currently living with my brother, Taranu, who has been kind enough to allow me to stay with him and his family. If you are ever in need, just let me know and I shall see what I can do." She smiled slightly.

"Have you tried the inn? I am certain that they have room for you there; it's not as though we get many visitors." She smiled, although there was a hint of sadness in it. "Why not allow me to take you there?" she asked, absentmindedly twirling a strand of black hair around one slender finger. "It is not far, and you have nothing to fear from the innkeeper, for I know him well. There is nothing he would not do for his customers." The she-elf watched Lilaine, waiting for a reply.

Lilaine smiled big. "thank you so much! i don't know the city too well and hadn't a clue that there was even an inn. please take me there." Lilaine thought that she and maralyn could be friends.

Maralyn smiled faintly. "Very well; I shall take you there." With one fluid movement, she motioned for Lilaine to follow her, then began walking in the direction of the inn, the fall of her footsteps echoing around the empty streets and off the silent houses. The crisp night air seemed to possess an eerie chill.
Maralyn stopped for a moment, pulling her weathered green cloak more tightly about her narrow shoulders. She turned to look at Lilaine. "Do you feel...uncomfortable in any way?" she asked hesitantly, glancing up at the moon. A dark cloud had floated into its path, and the city had darkened considerably.

Maralyn, did not reply, instead holding a finger to her lips. She silently strode forward, her eyes scanning the empty streets until they finally settled on the door of the inn. She swiftly reached it and knocked on the door, the noise echoing through the night. "Bennardion, mellon nin," she called into the dark room, "Are you there?"
Nothing answered her but silence.
The she-elf turned back to her companion, her brow creased worriedly. "That is strange; the innkeeper never leaves the building. There must be something behind this."
