I have just started reading the first book for the second time, i finnished it for the first time about a year ago and i think its amazing the things you forget about. I first thought it would be a waste of time reading it again but it is still just as good, if not better a second time, what do you think and im intrested to know how many times any of you have read the book/s ?

FotR is the only book I've read more than twice in the trilogy. I think all of them have been better the second time 'round. You catch all the little bits that you didn't before, and I, at least, thought the parts that once made very little sense or seemed a bit jumbled came out a lot better. It's one of the few series' of books that I can read over again... Most of the time I get too bored with other books to attempt a second helping, haha.

I agree with you. I read it twice, and I found lots of new things about the story, like secrets hidden inside each sentence... It is wonderful!!

I could read any of Tolkien's books again and again, and never get bored of them. They're just so great!!! And, like you said, you find new things each and every time.

I've read the entire trilogy twice, as well as the Hobbit. I've read the Unfinished tales once, and the Silmarillion, now on my fourth time(and second project on it). The way I read them was akward, first the RotK, just after I saw the movie. Then I decided to go backwards, a wierd, but semi reasonable idea. So I read the TTT, then FotR, then the Hobbit, and finally the Sil and Unfinished Tales. Then I read them again, in proper order. And I would be reading the RotK for the third time now, were I not given this project, and deciding to do it on the Silmarillion. And to be honest, I don't think I'll be going back to the trilogy until maybe the summer or later; I've begun reading the History of Middle-Earth series, and I'm now on the Book of Lost Tales Part 2.

The best thing to do when reading the Silmarillion is first read it and then immediatly read it again... you'll see the second time you CAN truly enjoy it.

I agree with this all the way.

Myself have also finished just round Christmas the Fellowship of the Ring. Now im bout to head out on TTT and ROTK. And i do that every year. Like all of you said, each time there is something more to discover...

And after that.....Silm, UT, The Hobbit and then again LOTR.... simply fills up my loop for reading habbits :-D

I've read the books over 80 times, and they never get old. I can pretty much quote the entire book off by heart, but I still love it!!!

Call me weird, but I read the Sillmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Triology every year. This is my second year doing it and I am on the Two Towers. I think it's pretty awesome!
