Awesome, i've got a Friend at Birmingham doing War Studies I'm at Queen Mary

It is really expensive, so I'm lucky enough to live close enough to London to catch the train there, and I often don't have to go in in rush hour, so it's much cheaper

Ooooo lucky - best of both worlds - home cooking and uni fun. Though i kinda enjoy not being at home anymore - i enjoy the freedom lol. Though its mainly freedom to eat whenever - go to the pub - and work till redics hours of the morning wihtout being told i should be in bed lol.

See my parents aren't that worried if I stay up until unsociable O'clock to work, and I can just pop out in my scabby car as well. And the biggest upside is I can continue my hobbies- the musical theatre co at Uni folded after about a month of it's creation xD so I went back to my local one The downside to my uni is because it's so close to all the action of London there isn't a lot going on on campus- we only have a tiny little bar, compared to most other unis who have huge event venues and clubs! Being able to hop on the tube was a huge plus though.

Mostly C20th Britain, America and Germany, but the 1st half up to 1950 is more what I specialise in atm . What areas do you study in a music degree? Is it theory, or practical or a combo?

A combination. I specialise in early music, though i'm studying the context of 60's music this year (becuase the early music modual i could have done in the catorgary i had to choose from was soooo theretical i wanted to die just reading the discription) and doing my dissertation on psycology within a 70's opera. But i plan to specialise career wise in early music.

Brummie land is awesome - we have great nightlife in the city, also in the suberb in whitch we all live, and two bars on campus, two where all the freshers halls are and a big student night in the guild on a saterday for us 2nd 3rd years who want to go out but really can't be bothered with the whole getting a taxi, spending loads - we'd rather have a short walk and then if you pass out the guild will take you home. Its awesome lol, though i have never availed myself of that particular service lol.

I turned 18 in March (just "turned" 18 and a half, actually), but I find most of the time I don't actually like being an adult and would rather be a kid again. Can I still join? XD

Since i haven't had to leave higher education yet (and i don't plan to, bring on the MA, Phd and then we'll see) its all still fun and games for me.
But to be honest - who really wants to be a child again. Yeah - no responsibility - but no freedom either. And as an adult you can book a week off; be irresponsible, do whatever you want and pretend to be a kid again. Being an adult dosen't mean you always have to act like one.

That's very interesting perspective. It's the responsibility that gets to people. I know there are days I wish I didn't have all this responsibility, but at the same time, I am grateful I do. It gives purpose and direction to my day.

I'd love to go back to my childhood, but not so much because I want to be a kid again, but because I just want to live through that period again ('80s and '90s). I really don't mind being an adult. Being on your own, though frightening as the responsibilities sometimes may be, is fantastic! Like Anduril said, you can do pretty much whatever you want. If you want to have cake for breakfast and leave dishes around the house - you can!

I'm a very different person in many ways than as a child. More guarded. It takes much more to open up to people. Much more serious. More inclined to fret and think a lot about an issue going over it from every angle rather than just taking what comes and letting life roll like water on the back of a duck.
I still love to have fun though!
Having my own kid really helps. I love playing train, trucks, going to the park playground again, etc.

I think a great thing about children is their openmindedness: They don't judge you on how you look or act, but are very curious to things they haven't seen before. I love how they always ask questions about ANYTHING, even though it can be exhausting sometimes. When you grow older, it's hard to keep your mind as open as when you were little, since you know so much more about the world around you, including the horribble things.

But there are also advantages on being an adult: you can cook what you like most, decorate your own house and make other of your own decisions
