^Yes, I agree! A lot of Canada's history is British history, so we get a good dose.
In Canada, we have a few different accents and words unique to an area. The Newfies (Newfoundlanders), however, are completely unique, in both accent and words, XD. I can fake a pretty convincing British accent. I don't know what area it would be from, however.

oh, and as for the accent thing we were discussing earlier...i really love the yorkshire and geordie (that's newcastle) accents. for me, there's something really down to earth and sort of comfortable about the northern accents, and i love yorkshire and geordie ones in particular. i've also grown to love the birmingham accent, and i wish mine was stronger. i know most people hate the brummy accent, but to me it sounds like home, which i guess is why i love it. actually, i love accents in general - i think it's great that we have so much variety. i'm really interested in dialect too. unfortunately, the midlands dialect has pretty much died out where i live, so the only midlands word i know is "bosting" (which means "great"). any of you guys know any dialect words from your areas?
I think there is a stokie word "Slat" meaning to throw
Summat like that anyways.

Lol.
Just coming to see all my British fellows, or wannabe-British fellows. I haven't seen y'all for a while, since I've been absent. However now I'm back and I believe we should discuss something very British.
Hmm.
How about...humbugs? I have a large liking for humbugs, and since they're traditionally from the UK [mainly] they seem like a good topic. What other British traditional sweets does everyone like?

BAH HUMBUG!!! :teeheee:
Couldnt help myself there :P:P As for traditional sweets, I do like aniseed balls, whether they are British or not is another question. And the occasional Rum ball too *nods * :P
@Miluel- Nothing personal, its just to be outfrequented as a club by a club for shippers is to my mind, embarrasing

mmm, sweets
anyway, good britsh sweets. well...humbugs are great, and fudge, and seaside rock, and fruit salads, and black jacks, and boiled sweets, and dolly mixtures, and cola cubes, and sherbet lemons, and chocolate eclairs, and smarties; and then there are the chocolate bars - dairy milk, kit kat, curly wurly, flake, creme eggs...i could go on for a while. i do love sweets, and britain did produce probably the two most famous sweet companies ever - cadbury's and rowntree.

haha. well, i've actually left uni now (i left half way through the course because my heart wasn't in it any more - i was sick of exams etc), but i did eat far too much chocolate and too many sweets while i was there. there was a small shop on the road between uni and my flat, and several vending machines on campus, and a vending machine in the launderette, all of which got a fair bit of custom from me. i don't know how i managed to keep the weight off!
sweets are still a major comfort food when i'm bored/mardy/melancholy, and no girly night in is complete without a big bowl of pic 'n' mix.

You finished your course *eyebrows rise* I thought you were enjoying it?
As for the girly night in, well, I wouldn't know about that...... :P:P:P:P

@ Lamenter: I know, no worries.
I love Cadbury! My grandmother (who is British) makes these delicious chocolate coconut balls. Turkish Delight is also very good. I hope that's British...

i really really love my subject, and the content of the course was really interesting, so i was enjoying it in that respect. the problem was that i couldn't stand the essays and the exams and the jumping through hoops. i'd had 13 years of that at school, and i'd finally had enough. now i'm enjoying being able to study my subject in my own time and my own way without the dread of an assessment hanging over me.
