We have always been more liberal and relaxed about everything up here in Scandinavia - something you can definitely tell by the old folklore tales and the writings of the Eddas.

That is exactly why I want to move to one of the Nordic countries. Sweden, in particular, has my eye. Not only has it been neutral in the past 2 WW, but was not attacked by Hitler-that's gotta say alot. Not to mention the green energy! Unfortunately my own home-country is mostly uber-Catholic, 'cuz I very much revere Slavic mythology also (if you couldn't tell...) I blame its proximity to the centre of Catholocism-Italy/Rome/Watican.
Me and my friend started a little club called the "Nordic Council", or, rather, that is the working name (I understand there is a political entity that exists under the same name). We celebrate and discuss Norse/Germanic mythology, culture, and history. Our symbolism uses Norse runes alot, thusfar (we've only three members, and we haven't really organized beyond an unofficial name, flag, and what were about). :-D
Now on to the mythology:

Hmm..a topic?

How about is there any particular God/Goddess you feel more interested in?

Other than the All-Father. I feel closest to Thor and Freyja. I also became very intrigued by Heimdall and Skadi.

Lol, we've close to much in common then! For Thor (I've a poem about him I wrote), Freyr, and Heimdall are the Gods I revere above the others.

May I join? I don't know as much Norse Mythology as Greek, but I do know a little. :)

Canada is a smish of everything so we get bits and pieces of Slavic and Norse "religions" wandering around the bigger cities. There was this one Norse club trying to start in my city but no one would join...i wanted to but couldn't.

Aw I really like the story of Thor dressing as a woman.

That's great story, but some scholors say that it may have been made up by christian monks to make fun of the Norse gods. :annoyed2: [/quote]

Well, if you think about it, Loki was the one who made Thor dress up. And you could even take this further, and say that Loki is the representation of Christianity, as seen by the Norsemen, or at least the 'devotees' to the Aesir, if you get me. Harmless at first, just playfully nipping the Northern Worlds heels, eventually aiming to swallow it whole. Ragnarok can be seen as the final battle between Northern Faith and Christianity. The end? A victory for the Northern Faith in the form of Baldr  A typical allegory, really. But I'm not here to pit faiths against each other! Only interpreting the myth in that way. Of course most of what we have was written by a Christian, Snorri....

And hey! I'm a Canadian too! :-D

They visit me often. Usually when I'm having a down day.

It's quite comforting to know they're there.

I love ravens, they're so sleek and...black. I saw this one that was an albino, he was very pretty. And whenever i see two horses running side by side, it looks like a sleipnir becuase of the legs.

I so wish I had my Norse Mythology deck of cards with me. Instead of the usual spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs it had Sleipnir, Mjölnír etc. And of course the Gods and Goddess were instead of the kings, queens and jacks.
