Who has read any of Jane Austens books?

I've read Pride and Prejudice and Emma, they are both brilliant books. I prefer Emma though, probably just because its the first one I read. They are both very well written, I think.

I like Jane Austen! My favorite would have to be Pride & Prejudice, although I've read Emma and Sense & Sensibility too. Right now I'm actually reading Jane's "Sanditon and Other Stories" - I really wish she had finished the story "The Watsons" which is in the book; I love it!

I love Austen. I've read Pride and Prejudice, a bit of Sense & Sensibility, and Northanger Abbey, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I've read Pride and Prejudice, which I thought was quite hilarious. Maybe partly for the fact that I was reading a LARGE PRINT version, and that just made it even more comical. Ha ha ha. And I've read Northanger Abbey. (However you spell it!) I definately like that one. It's my favourite.

Jane Austen is really good. I own Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma. I know that in general people love P & P and consider it her masterpiece, but personally I get far more out of Sense and Sensibility. Somehow the character feel a tiny bit more realistic to me.

Oh joy! Pride and Prejudice is one of my most favorite books of all times. I find Jane Austen's sense of humor hilarious. Right now I'm reading Persuasion- I'm not very far into it, so I can't tell how much I like it yet, but I've been told that it is one of her best.

I don't know, my problem with S&S was that none of the characters were quite likable (imo). Elinor is too...sensible, kind of devoid of emotion, and Marianne's too darn naive and silly. Edward is a bit of a milquetoast, Colonel Brandon is too old, and Willoughby is...well, Willoughby :p Besides, I was quite disappointed that the extent of the conclusion of the relationship between Marianne and Brandon was basically "In time Marianne came to see how much Brandon loved her, he proposed, they got married, etc. etc." Where's the fun in that? :p

i think the endings always seem sort of hurried...it bothered me the first time I read Emma and there was only a tiny paragraph saying that they got married and lived happily ever after, while so much of the story had sort of lead up to it. I felt like it wasn't finished, or that she just got bored writing it and tacked on an obligitory ending...

I am finally making progress in Persuasion, and it is fantastic. As with all Jane Austen books, it took me a few chapters to really get into it, but after that it is intrigueing. This book is a little less light-hearted than her others, it is quite sad, actually. Yet Jane still inserts her brilliant, delightfully akward scenes here and there. :)
