Yeah that's what I've got

Hello , I just got "The Silmarillion" and I can't wait to read it! From what I have heard and seen what others posted, it sounds like I'm in for an exciting journey.

I have this edition too, and I love the huge appendix at the end!!! It's very helpful the first time you read it with the names/places. It tells you what all of the names mean too, which is cool.

I've got this one.

It's almost the same. Just cover is different. Oh, and of course language

I have the first american edition (originally my dad's, and so old the jacket is long gone XD). It contains:
Ainulindale, Valaquenta, Quenta Silmarillion, Akallabeth, Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age, family trees (house of Finwe, descendents of Olwe and Elwe, house of Beor, and houses of Hador and Haleth), chart of the sundering of the elves, note on pronunciation, index of names, appendix: elements in sindarin and quenya names, and a big fold out map of beleriand in black and red. (there's also a smaller map in the chapter "Of Beleriand and its Realms").
I thnk they're all more or less the same.

It is a good read. It contains a history of how Middle-Earth was created and the first Dark Lord.
