I'm not going to do a poll, because there're too many choices.
I think my favorite character is Beren, because of all he did, and then Tuor, because he's just an awesome human who uses an awesome axe; Finrod, because he helped Beren on his quest, and gave his life to save him; Glorfindel and Ecthelion because of their part in the saving of the remnant of Gondolin; Fingolfin, because of his battle with Morgoth, etc.

Well ... As ya probably all know, Fëanor, followed by Nienna and so on.
Why? Well ... Fëanor was a great Jewel-maker and a very handful boy (Why, yes, I´m materialistic ; )), cute without any doubt and he messed up, but we all do thus ...
Then Nienna ... Don´t ask me why I like her, but she´s just cool to me. : )

My very favourite character is Luthien, because i love her name and she's one of the women who actually did other things then sitting around and carig for their children. And i loved the story! She and Beren... it was soo sad!!
And Finrod's great too!! I dunno why i like him, but well, i just liked his character and stuff..... ;O)

First off Aule(or as the dwarves named him, Mahal), because I like hands-on things, and crafts and the like(I like helping my dad out in the back or the garage ^^), and I like the dwarves and Noldor(because of their craftiness, love of languages, and song[as they apply to me), and he was dear to them, so.
I also like Orome, Mandos and Lorien(because of my own personalities), Varda(I love the stars, especially since removed from factiories, I'm able to see them clearly up here), Fingolfin and Earendil.

I like Yavanna Kementári (called Kémi Palúrien in the Lost Tales), because I can identify myself a bit with her. She loves nature, she would die for peace and she adores the two trees Laurelin and Telperion… And me too.
Also I like Lúthien and Melian, both are so beautiful and have wonderful characters.
Of the men I like Turgon, King of Gondolin, don’t know why… I think he’s a really Hero. Also I like Fingolfin and Maedhros.
And I like Earendil, I love him and I know his tale and his poem nearly by heart.
Erm… I think I love them all

Oh this is tough. But I'd probably have to go with Finrod Felagund. I say Finrod because he risked everything, including his life to help Beren out. Also, he was probably the one Elf that was a real friend of Men during the First Age. And even though he was under the doom of the Noldor (he was right? I haven't read the Sil in ages) he still seemed like one of the Noldor that really wasn't corrupt by the Silmarils. I suppose you could say the same for Turgon, Fingolfin, and others, but I think this reasoning connects most with Finrod.

Feanor... followed by other princes of the Noldor. Why? because I see him differently than most others, not mad or evil. I was simply able to see him from another angle and when I looked then at myself, I found much in common with him.

Well, it's been six months since I first read the Silmarillion, so I can't remember it all. :/
But Melian, and Nienna, and Luthien...why am I always drawn more to the women? -_- My favourite Vala is Yavanna. Men...Tuor. And Beren.

I'd have to say Turgon, Fingolfin, because he's so noble and kind, and all his sons. and defiantely Luthien and Beren because their story is so sweet, and Olwe. he's cool too. My fave valar is Varda (Elbereth) because i love the stars.

I fail to enjoy the story of Turin - it's way too depressing.

My favourite Silmarillion character is Findarato Ingoldo . Or as we know him - Finrod Felagund .
( His name on Quenya means a mighty heir of Finwë and on Sindarin - adamant . )
When I think about Finrod in my mind always appear words like honour , loyalty , pride , dignity . For him they are the most important . Nothing had the power to break his will on two . And only Finrod among all the other elven rulers managed to find the value of the peace with the other nations - humans and dwarves .
