After her fourth or fifth s'more, she had lost count when the sugar rushed to her brain and made her all loopy-like, she rolled onto her back and rested her arms behind her head in a make-shift pillow, staring up into the sky as she watched the clouds creep over the stars and the moon giving it a very eerie look, but what wasn't eerie at this mansion.

[Well, I just can't pass by an opportunity like that, can I?]
Tar found herself staring at one of the yet-to-be-carved pumpkins in spite of herself. She had never actually carved a pumpkin before, being prone to Murphy's Law (cue Good Luck Chuck reference here), but she was tempted to try.
"Do we have a doctor in the house? I just don't want to bleed to death if I somehow manage to cut off my entire hand in some freak accident." She said to herself, gingerly taking a knife and pulling a pumpkin in front of her.

Jocelyn overheard Tar and the Headless Horseman talking and stood up, without a word she walked over to the headless horseman and gave him a hug. "You look just fine without a head..." With that she returned to lying on the ground staring at the passing stars

After warming by the fire, and enjoying three smore's (heavy on the chocolate, burnt marshmellow), Aria was feeling content and peaceful. This new turn in conversation was a bit unsettling however.
"You know," she said ponderingly, "Every generation in my family, someone looses a limb of some sort*. Fingers, toes, hands, even whole legs! Some think it's a curse. Personally, I believe klutziness just runs in our genes. So I guard my limbs - fingers especially - with particular ferocity."
(*this fact is true in real life of my family actually.)

"That is utterly comforting, Aria, thank you." Tar said, focusing on the pumpkin. "But then again, our dear Horseman looks rather charming without a head." She said, her knife slipping and cutting her finger slightly.
"Shoot. I knew that would happen." She said, putting her injured finger in her mouth. "Mmm, it tastes like pumpkin though." Tar shrugged, and continued the carving one-handed.

"Oh. You're carving a pumpkin. Heh. Right," she noted quietly. Darn the awkwardness around strangers!

Now that the crowd around the fire had dwindled a little, Fragile moved forward to make a s'more. She smiled as she watched the brilliant flames licking the white blob stuck to the end of her stick, anticipating the taste. Once the marshmallow was a soft golden brown, she squished it with chocolate between two crackers and proceeded to attempt eating it without dripping chocolate all over herself.

"Well, it's not much, but it's finished." Tar said. it was a simple, pumpkin carving, with triangles for eyes and nose, and jagged mouth. However, due to lack of skill, the jagged mouth was even more jagged than intended, causing an even more disturbed look to the pumpkin.
"And I didn't even manage to lose a finger. Dang. Better luck next time, I guess?"

"Classic," Aria said with a grin. "You should name him... the poor nameless dear." She patted Tar's pumpkin affectionately.

Autumn poked her head through the door, which creaked eerily as she nudged it open. She hated arriving late to parties, but so much had come up at the last minute that she had lost track of time.
She thought she could hear a murmur coming from the area around the fireplace. She took a step forward to investigate.
