"Or, someone who likes very old things. Like... 1700's perhaps? And pirates?" Taur then added quietly, "It makes me think of PD." Feeling guilty for accusing anyone, she changed the subject. "In any case, I think it's a good idea to check the old atlases in the library."

Tar jumped up and laughed proudly.
"I don't know anything, you guys. I got the connection, it's your turn for the brilliant ideas. Oh man, I just KNEW my trivia would help us."
EDIT:
"But we musn't get too excited. I mean, it's a good idea, but it's nothing but speculation, really."

"It makes me think of a lot of people, to be honest," Lady Death said. "Pirates of the Caribbean has a rather large fan base you know. Now that I think on it why was it mentioned that the map could be from the time of Columbus? That's a very specific reference and Columbus sailed long before the timeline of Pirates of the Caribbean."

"We really must think about what these clues mean....if they are clues. We figure it could be a psycho pirates history fan, but... perhaps they're not connected at all. So what do they standing alone?" Kit said. "All this thinking has gotten me quite the headache."
[[P.S. I'll be away for a bit, I've got some things to do. It won't take me more than 20 minutes, I don't think.]]

"Yeah, it's just like that six degrees of separation thing. I bet I could connect every single one of us to Pirates of the Caribbean somehow." Tar said with a frown. She plopped back down on the log. "Oh man, being a detective is way harder than it looks on Psych."

[Didn't edit my previous post fast enough...]
"What if the map has nothing to do with Pirates of the Caribbean at all?" Lady Death suggested, "I mean, it was described as being from Columbus' time and he sailed hundreds of years before the pirates from PotC did. That's quite a specific reference to be made about a map."

[I wibble for you Kit. Lord knows how many pages we'll be at then. It's been nice knowing you *clings*]
"Yes, POTC does point to an awful lot of people and we don't even know if that is what the map and everything refers to. It could be" he said lowreing his voice... "someone trying to lay the blame on a POTC fan. It's too obvious now that you think about it, to be true" he said.

"Oh, so do you think it could be a red herring of sorts, Algernon?" inquired Lady Death. She had never thought of that possibility before.

"The fountain of youth was too obvious?" Tar asked incredulously. "Oh man, I used all of my genius to come up with that. You're killing me here, my good Horseman."

"I do indeed. This killer could in fact be nothing more than someone who is tricky... and false"
"I meant merely dear lady" he said to Tar "that now you put it all together, it points to easily at a POTC fan".

"It being a red herring would add a whole new dimension," Fragile agreed, thoughtfully munching on a s'more. "I do need to think about this for a while."
[[I'll also be off for a while, as my family is begging me to watch Dr. Who, which commands my full attention. Fortunately I'm a fast reader. See you all in a bit.]]

"In that case I don't know how we shall ever find any definitive evidence to accuse anyone," Lady Death said with a sigh. "We'll just have to wait for more clues or murders, whichever come first, if any."

"I see your point." Tar said dismally. "But jeez, if this killer is going around leaving red herrings...we have a mastermind on our hands."
[Later, Fragile. ]

"Perhaps," said Aria, rather sadly, for she was morbidly fond of the idea of a psycho pirate fan. "Columbus, Columbus. What could that reference? A history buff, yes, and something a bit more. I'm stuck on sailor here though." She sighed deeply. "What if it's someone who hates water and found poetic justice in killing Saffron that way?"
She turned at Lady Death's words. "More murders? Let's hope not!"

"Hmmm, the differences do cause some problems," Nurrantiel mused. "Either they both go together and mean something, they both don't mean anything, or one is a red herring." She snickered, as the phrase "red herring" always brought up memories of Clue. But back to the present. Idly toasting a marshmallow, Nurr tried to ponder some more.
"Now....the map could have been from the library. It seems like something that would have been planted deliberately, to me. I mean, who would be carrying a map around anyway? So it makes me think it could have been deliberate. But would the killer think that we would think it was deliberate? Oh man, now I feel like Vizzini. 'But you would have known that I would have known the origins of iocane powder, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you!'" Nurr glanced at Tar, grinning. Her movie fan was appearing now.

"I certainly don't hope for more murders either, my dear Aria," Lady Death said softly. "I was merely suggesting that we might get closer to the culprit if something were to happen." She looked back at her husband who was still standing out of the light and visibly shivered. "A history buff is an idea we haven't thought much on," Lady Death said, trying to change the subject.
