Maethoriel let out a bark like laugh as harsh as her demeanor. She had to hand it to the healers they did tend to stand up when they felt the need to, but she was hardly deterred.
"You know what, child, I shall keep that in mind next time I come in. Oh, and you should lose your wager," she continued laughing as she pulled a cane from the belt of weapons she wore at her waist along with a pipe. It seemed that girl felt the urge to match wills, and it make take a bit longer than she hoped, although she could slip out the window - the thought was entertained for a moment, but it was shrugged off. She leaned casually on the cane and let the pipe dangle precariously from her mouth which still stretched in a leer.
"Now, if you would excuse me, I have things to do," she said from around the pipe.
Grair stood awkwardly to the side shifting, it had been a bad idea to visit, he was sure of that now. He could be comfortable in his home under the mountain doing something worth while, but he just couldn't listen to his own reason, just had to get out for a bit of air and adventure. He snorted, a sort of derisive laugh as he thought about how he was now stuck with an obviously unstable woman. How he did wish for home, or even just a comfortable place to stay who knows? Maybe he would catch sight of the wind-maid again.

Deawen stared at him blankly for a moment, her gaze was not direct but as if she saw through him, her eyes flickered for a moment as if reading. In truth Deawen was reading her mental map searching for the location he spoke of. She smiled suddenly as she located where he spoke of.
"How does your arm feel?" she asked her tone light and noninvasive.

"Good," he said softly. The answer was almost disturbing, for his tone indicated not that it felt fine, but that he was quite content to wallow in his self-induced pain. It was better than the awful, aching numbness he was used to. It was reminding him that he was still alive.
Taevi's stormy eyes rolled over her face and he frowned a little. She kept staring at him - did she really think he hadn't noticed? Such nonsense. The elvish blood in his veins made him constantly aware of everything. "Why do you do that?" he asked bluntly.

It was Deawen's turn to frown " What?" she asked "Look at you?" she returned just as bluntly " Would you prefer that I not? Perhaps look to the side or at your feet?" she made her tone snappy and yet she was smiling. "Why does it bother you?" she asked.

Her tone made Taevi cringe a little, and the fact that she was smiling as she snapped at him made him confused. He shook his head and pulled back into himself, back into his shell, looking away from her. He rested his head on his arms, which were folded in front of him on the balcony's railing.

Deawen openly sighed, it was going to be an uphill battle with him. She avoided looking at him and simply said " I was jesting with you." she said softly " I don't understand why you are so..." she paused to find the word she wanted " cold." Her tone had returned to it's quiet hushed tone but instead of lack of emotion it was fillied with warmth.

Taevi glanced over his shoulder at her with his stormy eyes. A tiny prickling touched Deawen's mind, and his voice echoed quietly within her. You don't know what it's like to be different. To be an outcast.

Deawen jumped back as if poked with a red hot poker. She moved away from him her breathing suddenly quickened and her heart racing. She shut her eyes as she leaned against the balcony for support. She did not imagine that it was real....she felt her head swim. After awhile she recovered but did not open her eyes "No I don't know what it's like to be diffirent...." she responded at length.

Taevi looked a little bemused by her reaction. Typical. "Do you want to know?" he asked softly. His voice was barely above a whisper. He stood up a little straighter, eyeing her curiously.

Deawen was confused and intrigued She shrugged as she opened her eyes. The glinted with sudden dangerous quality. It was not threatening but a warning that she did not like what he did. "tell me."

The halfblood shut his eyes with a long sigh, his delicate features showing his concentration. Cautiously, the sensation in her mind came again as Taevi eased his mind and opened his own thoughts to her.
A shuddering gasp escaped him - What he’d meant to be a mere glimpse into his memories suddenly filled them both with a raging torrent of emotions and images, as though an uncontainable storm had broken from his body. Pain, endless torment, the lash of his master’s whip against his back. The brutality of the words he was treated with. Worthless scum! The sharp metallic taste of blood, the roughness of hands violating his very being. Brokenness. Utterly alone. Years of pent up rage and sorrow that he had felt during his captivity flooded their consciences until he couldn’t take anymore. He pulled it back inside of him with a gasp, severing the connection to her mind.
"I-I didn't mean to, I'm sorry!" He was trembling, a distraught look on his handsome face. "That was too much..."

Emotions outside her own caused her to feel remorse she had never known. But it was not in her nature to be humbled by such acts she stood up straight and stared ahead brooding. " You have endured more than anyone I have ever known Taevi, I want to help you heal." she said clearly.

Taevi nodded appreciatively, still looking pale and a bit shaken. "Can we go back inside, now?" he asked quietly, feeling a bit worn out, not to mention his stomach had begun to scold him.

Deawen nodded but did not head for the houses of healing, but instead made for the meal hall nearby. " I don't know about you but I am starving."

"I could eat," was his simple reply, which was quite the understatement. He followed at her heals, his eyes taking in everything they passed by on the way.
(( We gotta merge together with the others some how... Tae should meet Mae. It'd be interesting, he's never met another half elf... ))
