Slightly off topic, but those "I survived the great AU crash 05" avvies that I've seen around are hilarious; im glad this forum's back up!

I also agree that third episode with Clark dying was awesome, the whole concept behind it was deep and profound, it actually touched me, unlike the other episodes which usually blow you off or entertained you. Very real indeed.

Clark died??? I assume he came back from the dead, otherwise Smallville would be dead itself...

Arg I haven't caught an episode since the season opener. Meh, must watch! Thanks for the summary, Eruadan!

Yeah Clark dying was sad.. and then he came back which was a good thing.. otherwise the show would be gone..

So.. who do you guys think is going to be the "close" person to Clark that is going to die? I'm pretty sure that it's that its going to be Lana, because otherwise how do you get the whole Clark and Lois thing that has to happen to go along with Superman...

And actually I don't mind Lana... I know something will happen in the end to her anyway.. please don't squish me Even!! I'm not a roach!!

[sigh] Another attempt on Clark's life. Which he comes back again. Of course.

[sigh]

Lana can't die. She was in Superman III (Played by Annette O'Toole) and as far as I've been led to believe, Gough and Millar want to keep it as closely tied to the movies as they can.

I thought about this a little, but couldn't really put a finger on it. They've strayed from the movies and main comic story lines before, so why not again. I'd think it'd be either Lana or one of his parents, but I don't think they'd kill any of them off. Logic would point to Chloe which isn't integral to possible future plots, maybe that's why she's closer to Clark now, knowing his secrets, and then when you least expect it, she'll die for real this time.

It makes no sense for it to be Lana, Martha or Jonathan because they are integral to the movies.
Gough and Millar are working quite close to Bryan Singer on Superman Returns to keep both movie and television franchises as closely related as possible.

Not everyone who watches Smallville has seen the movies or read the comic, so this is to get them guessing and to keep them watching. Which it has and will.

Now that I think of it Chloe does make a logical choice, because everyone who knew Clarks secret previously has either left Smallville or died. Chloe is also a journalist, and Lois has to become a journalist. So maybe something like Chloe dies mysteriously or not, and Lois takes up journalism to try and find her cousins killer. I don't really know, its just a random thought that might happen.

Lol I'm not going to squish you Tan, and I'm actually like liking Lana a bit more now. Ugh! I swear, I like her sometimes..and then I just hate her. lol. And..as for who's going to die. It's going to be Johnathon, because in the comic books his character died. And think about it, everything's been leading up to that point..the deal he made with Jor-El, all his heartattacks. That's who I think's getting killed..

Jonathan won't die. He's in the first Superman movie, which is set after Smallville (technically)...so killing him off when he miraculously re-appears later on in Clarks life makes no sense to me at all.

Unless Gough and Millar say this is some sort of alternate time line Superman story, then it needs to keep continuity by not killing off Lana, Martha or Jonathan.

Just my opinion though.

See that's what I thought, although it'd be a nice twist for him to lose either of his parents, although it messes up the story the way we know it.

I did have a question for anyone who possibly knows more about this show than I do. What are they heading for in the series?, is there some sort of goal or closure that they plan to give this? What I mean is how far into the story do they plan to take this? I've always wondered that.

Actually, Lana was not played by Annette O'toole, I don't believe....I do believe she played Lois. I can see why Lana can be killed off since she plays no realy important role in the future except for the fact that she was Clark's highschool sweetheart [as the profile has it] I don't see her part in the series, important at all.......

Chloe's role in the series? Sorta --- her journalism, her prodding, that one person who atleast knows Clark's secret. Atleast someone needs to know his secret now that Pete's gone. [I want Pete back though].

Annette O'Toole played Lana Lang in Superman III.
Margot Kidder was the actress that played Lois in all of the Superman movies.

Annette with Christopher Reeve in Superman III and on her own

Lana may not seem important. But to keep continuity you can't just kill her off because of that. Not for her to re-appear later on in Clarks life like that.

Eruadan - You know. I've been thinking that myself...what is the ultimate goal for the series?
The only thing I can think of is for him to move to Metropolis, join the Daily Planet and become Superman.[/img]

*hides in a metal box*
muahah Even can't squish me now!!!

umm... the series.. I think it might go like Raivynn_Phoenix said, him going to Metropolis and starting up journalism but that's got to happen after someone dies, and the Jor-el it probably going to tell him he has to move on and out of Smallville or something. And for some reason I"m thinking, that if they ended the series there, they would make like a movie as the ending or something. Not sure, but that's a good question.

I'm not sure anymore who'll die off..

And I miss Pete too.. he was funny

Ah, I see. [scratches head] My mistake. Thank you!

On the continuity note....how much of what's happening here do the writers WANT to keep as a continuity.

Though, truthfully, I doubt the writers will kill anyone off. It doesn't seem a show where they can kill one of good guys, for the past 5 seasons, they haven't at all.

Latest Episode: Vampires and Girly-girls? >.> Well, yes, it was a bit of a spoof but...oh how that got annoying. These episodes of Smallville seem mostly filler episodes again =/
