A huge welcome to the both of ya!
I went through the binge drinking phase when I was 14-18. Then it became more 'regulated' I guess you could say. Not as out of control. Now I only drink a couple of times a year.
I've always been a beer girl. I love beer!

See i drink a glass of my mums cider at dinner maybe twice a week, go out with freinds every friday night and drink in strict moderation and yes...i do drink to get drunk when we have house parties, but i'm not a lightweight and i know my limit. I never binge drink.

I don't think I'll ever drink with the intent of getting drunk. I'm one of those people who gets all sorts of positively insane ideas, but manages not to act on them solely because of common sense. Were my inhibitions lowered too much...yeah. Other people might have fun, but I'd like to survive parties with my reputation intact.  (I'm also already less than coordinated, so dramatically reduced reaction time could be catastrophic.)
My parents have always been very good about letting me and my brothers sample alcohol. Whenever they have a drink, if any of us want to try a sip, we're more than welcome to it. Obviously they don't let us have our own (though my dad has said that now that I'm 18, he's perfectly okay with me having a drink at home), but it's never been the exclusive, forbidden thing that a lot of families make it.

The most I drink is a day or two a week. I went to happy hour at Chili's last Friday and this past Friday, and had a couple margaritas and chips/salsa. It's nice  Studying for medical terminology with Presidente margaritas and the best chips and salsa I think I've ever had.

I'm with you there.  My family is a beer family. My grandfather (mom's side) use to brew his own beer.

Welcome to the clubby Mephy and Anduril - and welcome back to you, I haven't seen you for a long time!
Being considered an adult sucks sometimes.. there are so many choices to make. Like I want an internship... in spring 2009 but there are so many interesting places.. Like I can go to Mexico City or Chicago... or just stay at home and work with a humanitarian NGO ... Life's hard and I'm spoiled... -sigh-

It's part of the top-down processing. People have the tendency to "fill in the blank" as they know it. So as long as it's contextually right and the first and last letter are in place, people can read words like that.
It's the same type of theory that says you can read...
"Twinkle, twinkle, little star.
How I wonder what you are.
Up above, the world so high,
Like a diamond in the the sky."
Reading it out loud, people tend to miss the second 'the' because they expect it just to say 'Like a diamond in the sky.' Your senses took in the extra 'the' but your perception didn't acknowledge it.

As par of my dyslexic classes we were taught to read this was as well; becuase I especially reley on memory a lot more than other people to cope with dyslexia we had to learn how to do this in order to increase our skills in reading words carefully and not to skim read and to increase our reading and understnading speed.
Then of course i learnt greek where EVERYHING looks like the above becuase its a weird langauge.

lol Me and my sister used to read things backwards because we thought it would be cool to have dislexia... O_o now that I am older I am glad I don't
Although trying to learn greek might give it to me! But if you can learn it... more power to ya
