Turning, Groucho saw that one guy he had talked to earlier in the day. "Oh, hello. Well, I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. This just wasn't it. Say, did you know your shirt matches the color of this punch? Fancy coordinating, I'd say." He rocked on his heels and stuck his cigar back in his mouth.

Glory nodded, picking up another plate with a piece of apple pie and holding it out for Path.
"Never had apple pie? That's understandable. It's really good. It's kind of cinaminy, and juicey. As well as really sweet, especially with a dollop of whip cream," she said. "My grandmother made them all the time with apples from the tree in our backyard. It's to die for. But not as good as chocolate pie, I think."

The Duke glanced at his own shirt, then at the punch, both a rather nice shade of red. "Why, yes, they do match. I hadn't noticed that before now." Normally he didn't have trouble conversing with others, but this man tended to confuse him. "You- you're own suit looks very nice. It matches the garlands there."

Lady Death hardly knew what had happened. One minute she had been sipping at her punch when the man named Groucho had confronted her saying something abouther looking nice and wishing she would go away. Delicate brows drawn together in confusion, Lady Death followed Groucho's path with her eyes as he walked away rather abruptly.

"Yes, it is. Only on very special occasions do I have some. Glassen(my pleasure), mellon nin. I see you can speak in the tounge of elves," Glory said, taking a bite of her apple pie. For a split second her eyes looked over to her husband, who had gotten hold of a bottle of wine and was sitting in a corner indulging himself. He never was the talkative type, she thought.

Ah, so they did. Groucho commended himself on his excellent taste in clothing. "Well, it has been a real pleasure, hasn't it? Such a treat to experience this fine dining. And not costing a cent. Now that's my kind of dinner." He saw Lady Death staring at him, so he waved his fingers at her and raised his eyebrows. "And now, I am afraid, I must be going. Farewell to you all - I'd do whatever you ask, even stay! - but I must be going."

The Duke watched as Groucho abruptly left the room. "He's a bit of an odd person." he commented to Lady Death who had walked over. "An interesting conversationalist, though." He shrugged. "How has your evening been, m'lady?"

Lady Death just about fell out of her chair as the odd man named Groucho waggled his fingers and eyebrows at her from across the hall. She blushed underneath her pale mask, waved back in farewell, and wished more than anything that she could find her Lord Death once again.

"Then we have that in common, Path. Elvish is not my first language, but certaintly one of the ones I'm most fluent in," Glory spoke, taking another bite of apple pie. She then smiled at Path's fiance.

"I wouldn't mind at all. I think he wouldn't mind either. He's a rather interesting one tonight," she said with a wink.

Taking one last drink of cider and setting down the glass, the Duke walked up the steps. Pausing at the top, just in front of the door, he turned and waved good-bye to the masqueraders. He was sure they would all miss his presence, but he was starting to feel rather tired. "Farewell, all. Thank you for a wonderful time!" he called, then turned, his cloak swirling rather dramatically around him, and left.

"No, I don't mind. And may I call you Path? I guess it just comes natural to shorten a name," she said, finnishing her pie as well, and setting the plate down, and looking at the great selection of other pies. "Hm... which to try next. I believe I've had very few variety of pies in my life."

Joker looked up abruptly as a man talked to him.
"No, I don't mind at all. The more the merrier," he said, waving his wine bottle about, then held it out. "Would you like some? It's the best this place has got."

Glory smiled, it is a unique name. Is there a certain reason you chose such a name for tonight?" Glory asked. "Hm... how about rubarb pie? My mother always says she grew up with it and that it was good."


"Then sit and take some. I don't see any need for formalities here," Joker said, taking two glasses from a passing waiter, setting them on the table a little roughly and filling them with the deep crymson wine.
