I'm exactly halfway through it right now, and I really enjoy it so far. Definitely the best book ever been assigned for school.

Finally finished Shaman's Crossing. It was excellent. I think Robin Hobb may be joining my list of favorite authors. I have the second of the Soldier Son trilogy on hold at the library, Forest Mage.
Until then, I may try to read Genesis of Shannara by Terry Brooks, though my enthusiasm for that one has diminished after Robin Hobb's brilliance. However, it's Christmas holidays, and seeing as I finally have time to read, I'm not wasting a day So I'll probably pick up Wheel of Time again, or reread the Temeraire books.

Hm. I'll be traveling out of town tomorrow so I'm taking along with me:
"The Black Cat" - Edgar Allan Poe (I'm taking lots of his short stories but thats on the top of my to read list! )
"Blind Faith" - Ellen Whittlinger --> I adore her books.

Oh goodness, I know, right? I nearly passed out when Ammy made it for me.
Anyway, I put aside In Cold Blood for break, and instead am rereading The Children of Hurin. Possibly my favorite Tolkien book ever.

Yay for that... it's usually a love or hate with movie adaptations..
I just got No Country For Old Men and I'm excited to read the book after I saw the movie! I hope I'll have time over the holidays!

Reading Sorcery Rising, or whatever the generic fantasy name is. It's quite good, even if I'm 289 pages in and there's still no plot. At least far as I can tell.

Forest Mage, by Robin Hobb. I'm hoping it's as good as Shaman's Crossing was. I love me some epic fantasy.

The Duchess... I didn't see the movie, but I heard what it was about and Georgiana's life intrigues me so I wanted to read the biography that the movie was based off of... quite good so far...never read a biography before so it is interesting to be reading non-fiction per se

How do you like Robin Hobb? I've never read him.
I just finished Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King and I'm still reading The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon.

Every single book I can find about the Romanov family, Alexie's hemophilia, the tragic murder, & the mystery of Anna Anderson.

It's a her, actually. She's very good, one of the few fantasy writers who writes in first person, and her worldbuilding skills are impressive. Forest Mage especially (so far) is definitely PG-13 if not higher, though. It's such a relief to find some really good fantasy that is suspenseful and has a believable world and intriguing character development. I also hear that her Farseer trilogy is very good.
