A softer look came into her grey blue eyes.
"I'm sorry"
From his words she guessed he agreed with her and so she had no fear in voiceing her thoughts.
"I would not overly mourn if they did do as you say to him; but it would be better for all if they were dead."

Malachi paused for a few moments before replying. "I apologize for my earlier words, Theia. But, while Lord Viktor rules, such talk is treason, remember that." He nearly whispered. With that warning, he voiced his concerns in a low voice. "I killed my share of Lycans during the wars. Many of those imprisoned lost kin to my blade. But Viktor is not a worthy foe. An enemy commander worthy of respect would not belittle worthy opponents be enslaving them. He would crush them in a fight to the death, he would give them a warrior's end." He said, quoting his own writings.

"You speak truth, in all ways. Even if we co-existed with the Lycans, hatred would eventually overcome. Our two peoples will always be at war. This," Malachi said, gesturing about him, "is only a respite. One day, the Lycans will break free. And when they do, I hope that I will be there to see Viktor's throat torn away by his 'pets'. He treats us veterans like pond scum, now. My brother and I did not fight for this!" He said, his voice rising until he was nearly yelling.

Theia stepped foreward in alarm as his voice rose and almost put a retrianing hand on his arm but thought better of it instead holding her finger to her lips.
"As you say such words are treason" she admonished softly "I have no doubt that what you say is true and that tyranny shall end here. But i am afraid" she lowered her voice still furthur "Our fate is tied to his; whatever I may think, the lycans our his slaves and he is my king; i cannot and would not turn against him." She sighed and turned away "My hatred is not so strong that seeing him fall would balance out my own death at thier hands."

Malachi nodded. "I apologise. But know this- the Lycans are relentless. If you would live in peace with them if they escaped, then go when they revolt. Flee this place. And if your alliance with Viktor leads to your death at Lycan hands, then I wish you a fair end."

Malachi sighed as he replaced two more books, then moved on to another pile. "If I have a chance, I will die on my feet with a sword in my hand. In a battle of my choosing." He said, then placed his books aside. "Do you have much skill with a blade?" He asked Theia, removing his slender blade from it's wall pegs, moving to a corner of the room.

"Not seen the likes of me?" He replied ot the vampire, reteating her words. In the dim light he could see her electric blue eyes. He glanced at her with his own pale grey eyes that, while not as blazing as hers, were just as feral. "When I have been here for so long, it is a miracle that you have not seen me at least once." He held her gaze, pausing before he gave her his name. He would have liked to say that he paused for dramatic effect, but truth be told his name did not come easily to him. In this setting, in this prison, his name was never used. He rarely spoke to his inmates (and when he did, names were unnecessary) and his vampire captives chose to call him only by demeaning titles. He had half a mind to tell her his name was 'dog' or 'pup'. "My name...is Nathaniel" He said slowly, savoring the pleasant memories his name evoked. With a sudden smirk he added, "But you may call me Nathan, if you so wish."

Sonja looked into the Lycans eyes without fear, and she could feel his hatred and his spite in his gaze, which also gave away his disbelief at her words. She shook her head to affirm that she had never laid her gaze on him, and nodded once he finally told her his name. "Nathaniel." She repeated to him, knowing that the Lycans were not used to being called by their names. "You look like a mere pup, yet you say you have been here forever." She stated simply, her gaze expressionless. After a moment, it turned cold, and she locked her eyes upon his as if she was trying to gaze into his soul. "Your words contradict your appearance - make sure that does not become a habit." She told him and snapping at a gaurd, she said quickly, "Get the pup - Nathaniel, - something to eat; I believe he is hungry." The gaurd, with a suprised expression on his face, stood in a daze for a moment. Sonja's glare intensified as she said in a very low whipser, so low that she was almost not heard,

"Now."

The guard quickly nodded and turned to go up the stairs to get some food for Nathaniel. Sonja smiled inwardly, although she kept her outward appearance solomn - a trait she learned from her father, Viktor. With another quick glance towards Nathaniel, Sonja moved on without another thought. You are growing soft, Sonja. She told herself as she contiuned to glance into the cages. She was about to make her turn to go back to her father when a cage that was at the end of the hallway inbetween and connecting the new rows of cages caught her eye - it was normally empty, yet she could see an outline of a figure in the shadows. She walked a few steps closer and commanded,

"You - reveal yourself!"

(CF, that's you - sorry everyone is not entirely involved quite yet, but after a few more posts, I have a plan to get everyone more involved. Thanks guys, it is awesome!!)

Lucian hardly perked up at the ongoing conversation two or three cages away by his side. Lucian was buried in his shadows and his loneliness at that time, growing intense as every second passed by and as the conversation extended far longer than he had expected. All of his kind usually spoke for more than a few minutes only if and when their vampire masters need for protection.

Lucian retreated to the back of the cage, his head was covered by his roughly chained hands partly as the footsteps of the figure was echoed. Lucian hoped that the vampire go away because his instincts told him interacting a vampire would not result in a possibly good outcome and surely of course, whipping of many countless hours in the back had helped him remind a good lesson from days back so as not to give them a stare at the vampires in the eye. With his ear though uninstinctively he tracked the footsteps as it pressed on, lifted off the contact on the ground.

Lucian blenched at the sound and stayed still however, he had to accept that it was not like any another he had heard in a while. Gradually, he lifted his head to obey the given command. His blue eyes scanned over the figure who dared to approach at his cage, blinked twice as fast as if he was being photographed. Lucian with the shackles quarrelling along the floor as he stepped into view of the vampire.

"Then it is death; for i will not break my alligance" She shrugged to hide her fear and watched him remove the sword.
"Not good; it is something that Victor thinks it no longer worth teaching since we have the Lycans to 'protect' us and as a mortal i never lernt as a woman." She did not flitch as the blade sliced through the air.
"You are one of the greatest warriors here; if you would teach me i would be so hounered. I know i cannot reley on my speed and agility to kill my enemy in a battle."

Malachi carried out a metal chest and opened it in front of Theia. A gleaming selection of swords lay before her. "We'll start you off with a blade, and see how you fight. I'll give you a blade that suits your fighting style as it becomes apparent. You never know when you'll need steel in these times." He said cynically, handing Theia an arming sword of middling legnth.

"Hold it with both hands, feet shoulder witch apart, knees bent slightly. Keep the tip up, pointed to your opponent's head." He advised, using his blade to adjust the sword.

Nathan glared at the vampire as she spoke to him. Young? She thought he was young, when he had been here for longer then the lives of many men? He bit back a scathing reply of "You look barely welped youself, mi'lady," knowing that saying such to one who held power over his fate was not a good idea.

The vampire didn't lower her stare. Nathan kept his stare as well, though he could could feel fear tickling his insides. He dropped his gaze, just as the vampire spoke.

"Get the pup - Nathaniel, - something to eat; I believe he is hungry."

He was surprised. He expected a beating, maybe a day's worth hard labor, but a feeding? He kept his gaze low, avaiding the vampire's stare in case she was merely playing him. He didn't want to face her victorious smile if he glanced at her and realized she was lying. The vampire stood for a moment. He could feel here drilling holes into his head with her gaze. But eventually she moved on, leaving Nathan to feel very uncomfortable. Nathan hoped that the gaurd braught enough food to share with his inmates. He could eat a meal knowing his fellow imprisioned were hungry.

Theia held the blade akwardly untill he corrected her. As sh setteled into the stance he instructed she reasiled that it was akin to her natueral attack position. Balance evenly spread so that she was ready for whatever attack was used.

She tested the blades weight experimentaly; she had no idea whether it was a good blade or not but she liked the feel of it in her hands. She was haveing a hard time keeping the smile of her face; she knew it would displease him slightly. But she could not keep her grey-blue eyes from sparkeling at the thought that he had agreed to teach her.

Malachi nodded. "Now," he said, holding his blade with both hands, level with his temples, "the arming swurd is a cut and thrust weapon, so use that. My blade is a cutting weapon, not the single edge." He said, without even twitching. "Attack." He said calmly, shifting his weight.

She nodded wondering how to attack him best; she knew she could not win but the aim here was to not make him think she was comepltly useless or stupid.
She moved her weight slightly onto her right foot to attack from the right but at the last moment attacked from the left; a short sharp thrust aimed just below his heart before quickly withdrawing out of immidiate range.
All this was done in less than a split second. Theia had not been kidding when she said that speed was her advantage. Although young Theia had a much quicker speed and lighter agility than many of the vampires twice her age. She lacked streanth and a proper sense of maturity it was true but maturity she presumed might come with time.

Her gaze fell upon his chest first, before she found his chains attached to his wrists and she followed them down to the floor, where they also connected to his ankles. She lingered on the chains for a moment, before her gaze reached back up to his face, and just as she got her breathing back under control, she lost it again. It was his most handsome feature, and she was never so attracted to anyone among her race as quickly as she was to this Lycan.

Noticing that a few moments had passed with silence between them, she spoke, a little quicker than usual, "A name." She paused, looking down at the ground before meeting his eyes again. "I aquire a name."

((My next post, Kraven will come and pull Sonja away from the celler, in order to prepare her for the annual ball that the Vampires host at their castles - the Lycans will all have to go out and gaurd that night as the other Vampires arrive - that is the future plan.))

(Okay!)

"My lord."

The voice nearly startled the old Vampire Lord as he rested on the fence into slumbering. The conversation with the nobles had diverged to more tedious and boring matters.

"My lord," the Death Dealer repeated. "We have found your daughter."

"And where is she?" Viktor asked

He sighed and inhaled. "She's with the Lycans."

He swore. He should have known. Sonja nearly spend as much time with them as she does with the sword, and much less with her father. He would understand if she was studying them. Trying to find ways to exploit their weakness. But his spies said that she was less hostile or belligerent with each passing visit.

"Should I go for her?" the Death Dealer asked.

"Yes," he said first, then changed his mind. "No, no. Send Kraven to get her. She needs to be ready for our guests."

"Yes, my lord," the Death Dealer bowed and went in search for Kraven. Meanwhile Viktor adjourned the meeting, despite having several other issues to discuss.

Lucian swapped his chained hands lower as soon as he heard the vampire order him though that does not sound like much of an order he was used to obey, also of the tone he was used to call. He noticed her gaze upon him, not like any humiliating or cocky look settled upon her face as he had expected to be. Lucian felt compelled to give her his name while he saw that he had the right not to. He tried to conceal chains like a naughty child behind his back for a mere moment however, he broke off the act as soon as it started. Lucian felt something deeper as he heard her speaking once more. "Lucian" he said as he tried to come closer however he was denied due to the stress of the shackles. He stared at her, scanning over her face. "And yours?" he whispered low, dull almost like a man who is about to die.
