I won't be heartbroken if he doesn't get an Oscar - so many great performances haven't won, so he'll be in good company - but I really hope he gets nominated.

Lol. Looks like we all posted at pretty much the same time. :P

I still posted before you. :teehee: ;)

I actually don't care if he wins, you know. I just want him to get a nomination... I'll be satisfied with just that.

True, but my magnificent post went unheeded... *sniffs* ... :teehee: ...

I'm pretty sure he will get nominated - he got nominated at the BAFTAS ... *crickets chirp* ... yeah, I know they're considered the Oscars poorer cousin.... but.. yeah... he might win that.

Aw, JF.... *patpat* :teehee:

Hm, I hope he does. BAFTAS? What on earth... :teehee: Is that a sort of British thing... Because I certainly have never heard of it. :P I hope he wins, though... ;)

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts

I doubt it gets transmitted anywhere except the UK. It would be much better if we had a better presenter than the twerp we have though. :yuck:

I hope he wins it anyway - and I would appeciate the losing best supporting actors to show a teeny weeny bit more... support than at the Golden Globes. I mean, you're meant to try and look pleased that you've lost at the best of times... but when you look mad anf gloomy and the guy who won is dead.... it doesn't look too good.

Oooooohhhhhh. :P

Well, I have never heard of it, but that doesn't count for much. ;) Do you have the same guy presenting every year? :erm: Anyway, when do those awards happen?

Yup. Huh? I didn't watch the GG, did the runner up really look "mad and gloomy"? :erm: Wow, I mean... not very classy. ;) Of course, to me, it's almost like they should give the award to someone else, seeing as Heath, well, won't really get to enjoy winning it... :erm: But, of course, I think he deserves it, and gosh, so many fans will be thrilled if he wins.

Yeah, I didn't think you would have done. I'm not sure how many non-Brits know about it really. :P

We usually have somone called Stephen Fry - you may have heard of him, he's an actor. And this year we have Jonathan Ross who is a no-talent comedian/presenter. But enough of my rant. :teehee:

Well some of them clapped and smiled, but even when everyone was giving him a standing ovation, a couple of them stayed seated... which was... wrong really in my opinion. I mean, it's not his fault he's dead, I'm sure he'd have much rather been there with them as "one of them" rather than getting ovations and things.

That's what my mum said. But then again, if someone is good in a role, they shouldn't forfeit it because they're dead.

Huzzah for the BAFTAs!

And HUZZAH for Stephen Fry! He's so absolutely brilliant! :D Jonathan Ross sounds really familiar to me ... hmmmm.

Well it shouldn't come as a shock to teh JF that I have any idea what the BAFTAs are. ;) I've seen them aired on American television before. Only once though and I don't remember what channel. It might've been BBC America or something. :P But it's teh BAFTAs, with oodles amounts of Brits. Very drool worthy. XD

So Heath was nominated for a BAFTA? That's cool!

But very uncool about runners-up (I'm assuming it was the runner ups) looking grumpy. Or at least a couple of them. Not cool, man. :P I mean, that's not cool even if the one who wins is alive. :P

@JF - Monty knew. :lol:

Nope. Never heard of him, but I don't hear about a lot of people. ;) lol, okay... that was a pretty short rant, but I guess you could have gone on? :teehee:

Ah, okay... that does sound wrong. Too bad really... anyway, people can be stupid sometimes, what can you do? :P
Hmmm, yeah that's true. And I do think he desreves it.

Anyway, here are nominees for the Academy Awards:

http://www.oscar.com/nominees/?pn=nominees

Heath Ledger did get nominated. So I'm content. (although, *cough* I'm not thrilled about some other things... but this is a TDK thread :teehee:)

I was VERY happy to see that he got an Oscar nod! So well deserved.

I am very amused by Robert Downey Jr.'s nomination for his role in Tropic Thunder. EPIC. I love it. (Off topic, I know ... but it's just too great of a thing to not say anything about XD)

But way to go Dark Knight for racking up as many nominations as they did! *cheers* Hopefully the Academy will be smart and give SOME of them to the Dark Knight.

Yup. Good for the Academy, I guess. :P

lol, I didn't see Tropic Thunder, so yeah... :teehee: I liked him in Iron Man.

*shrugs* I guess... I dunno. I kinda think that, since they nominated what they sominated for best pic, that TDK deserved to be up there... but that's just me. ;) I SO hope it gets cinematography.

And (lol, since we're going off topic anyways, might as well say that) I am SO epically disappointed WALL-E didn't make the best pic cut. *pouts* Stupid Academy... just because it's animated. :eyeroll:

@ Monty - Yay! You never let me down when it comes to British stuff!

Urk... no-one should have to know about Jonathan Ross... you know he earns £6m ($8m) a year from the BBC? And the BBC works because we pay for their channels and we pay for the programmes they make.... and the wages they give to people. *shakes fist*

Oodles of Americans as well. I usually feel like I should grovel at the feet of any American that turns up there... because I know the BAFTA's were always considered... meh.. in the great scheme of award giving.... until we moved it to BEFORE the Oscars.... muahuahuha.... and now it's one of the ceremonies that paves the way to the Academy Awards. As opposed to being the late arrival. Sneaky. :P

Well it was the runners up at the Globes... I'd like to think they'll behave better at the BAFTA's. If it comes to it, that is. ;)

@ TT - Oh, be thankful I spared you one of JF's rants. Fierce warriors have fought to take shelter under the nearest rock.... bloodthirsty kings have jumped off bridges lest they sample my wrath..... 'tis not a pretty thing to witness I assure you.

*ahem*

To be honest, I'm pleased TDK got 8 nominations, but they are all technical stuff apart from Heath Ledger. Which means it will probably do well.... but I was hoping for a Best Picture nomination. :-(

*ahem*

I know this. This I know.

Today is most definitely NOT "share a hot actor called Aaron Eckhart day".

*chases Ara with a broom*

Anyway.....

Yes, you are right Ara, but he is also amazing in this film. Seriously. Him, Heath Ledger and Gary Oldman whupped Christian Bale's bottom in this film. Harvey Dent and the Joker are so different to Batman... so new and fresher... but also let's face it, Bruce is a bit of a misery. :P So although I love Christian Bale and his Batman wipes the floor with any other "superhero" practically... I just wish he'd... be slightly happy once in a while.

I was quite nervous about what my mum would say about Mr. Eckhart, because I got his autograph (he dedicated it to me and drew a heart :swoon:) and my mum was like "who's this guy?" so I really hoped she would like him.

Her exact words were:

"He's not someone you'd kick out on a cold night is he?"

 :laughbounce:

There was no way I was going to admit I liked him for anything other than his acting skills. :innocent:

*runs from Goatcloset*

Ha ha, sorry if it seems like I'm stealing all of your favorite obsessions... first it was Norrie and now Aaron... we've just got great taste in guys, I suppose. :teehee:

I think all of them did great, Christian included, but Maggie was kinda the one that destroyed it, I think. Although, I was glad that they didn't get some blonde bimbo with giant breasts to play her. She was just a normal person. So that was one plus I found with Rachel. I tend to side with the women that stay in their place and don't try to go out and save the world. :P And Maggie is a good actress, but sadly I don't think she was cut out for this part.

Heath Ledger was amazing... honestly, with all of the hype going around about him being such an awesome Joker, I wasn't sure that I would like him too much. But I found myself hopelessly attached to him. ^.^ Heath's take on the Joker was probably the best I've ever seen and it's just a shame that he'll never have that opportunity again. Even if they have the Joker in future Batman films played by a different actor, it just won't be the same. Nothing comes close to the original.

Eee! An autograph from him?! You are most fortunate, my friend... you'll have to post a picture (if you haven't already), so I can gaze longingly at it. Hah, my mom likes him too... I'm glad to know she approves. :P

JF, So I'm to take you not ranting in front of me as an act of compassion? :teehee:

Yeah, it's too bad it was all technical stuff. :disgust: But 8 is a decent amount.

Ara&JF - No comment... Bruce Wayne is awesome though. ;)
