A tall man clothed in a black cloak stood at a black steering wheel. He was the Captain of the Nocturne, and everything about his persona inforced that. His dark brown hair moved with the wind, accenting it's wavyness. However, the Captain's eyes were not visible. He wore a black top-hat with a thick veil over his face. The sun shown dimmly, and a person could easily see the streaks of red in the person's hair. Cold air blew against the man, and night slowly fell.
Once the sun had set, the Captain flipped up the veil and pinning it up against his hat. Deep, dark blue eyes looked intently out to the sea. The man left his post and strode over to a small area in the rear of the ship. There stood a huge bell. The captain ran this bell three times to signal that night had fallen and that it was safe for the people to come out of the buildings and out onto the deck.
Why? Because this was a ship for vampires. Vampirates to be more specifically. Only the Captain Vlad Tepes could go out on deck during the day. If other vampires tried to go out during the day, they would easily burn their eyes and go blind. Vlad was different.
After ringing the bell, the Captain strode off, making his way back towards his wheel.

Morgan layed in the bowels of the Nocturne, hands and ankles bound with strong rope. How much time had passed since she had been captured by the vampirates illuded her. It could have been hours, or days, or weeks, for all she knew. Every second seemed to last minutes in the darkness under the deck. The only sounds she could hear were the creeking of the ship, the scuffling of something that shared her cell, and her own breathing. So it was no wonder she almost jumped out of her skin when three great rings of a bell vibrated through the cabin unexpectedly.
She wimpered as the noise seemed to vibrate every bone in her body, causing her to jolt suddenly awake from the shocked daze that had over taken her when she realized the pirates weren't human. Morgan had seen the fangs of one of the creatures she thought to be myth that were now her captors. The redhead prayed for the umpteenth time to be home with her family, if they had survived the attack.

Bones stood at the wheel of his ship, the Diablo, his red bandana adorned on his head as the great hunk of wood and nails slowly came up to harbor at a small town with a tavern known for it's abundance of good rum.
"Tie up the sails, prepare to lower ancor and dock," he yelled loudly against the wind in his roughened voice. James Bones guided the ship unyeildingly toward one of the large docks. When they were finally alongside the walkway, the ancor was lowered, ropes thrown to shore to be tied, and planks lowered for men to get from ship to dock and back.
(hope thats good for my first IC post!)

Aurora-Rose stood in her chambers looking through the many garments strewn across her bed, different colored trousers and even more petticoats, vests, and shirts to chose from. She couldn't help that she liked her clothes to be matching, who ever said a Pirate must look the part was sorely mistaken and A-Rose was here to prove it.
"Vari, ye never looked young to begin with so I ain't doing you no harm..." She called back with a singsong lilt to her voice, her lips curled up in a smile that Varianna couldn't see as she finally pulled a pair of sable trousers on, tucking them into her high buckled brown boots. A ruffled high collared peasant shirt was next and she tucked that in as well, finishing it off with a blood red pendent that she placed around her neck.
Quickly braiding her messy long brown hair she tied it off with a black tie and opened the door to see Vari tapping her foot away to a song of old.
"Happy now?" She stood with her hands against her hips, head cocked to the side and a bright smile on her lips.

Faux heard the chiming of the bell and his soft lips spread over sharpened canines. It was hard being a Vampirate sometimes, being stuck beneath the deck all day, only being able to step out during the night. One could go crazy, but it was his love of the sea that allowed him to stay calm, not to mention his sister Evangeline...
They were not truly blood siblings... although that was a difficult phrase to explain when you were a vampire. True blood siblings no, but Faux had created Evangeline when she was inches away from death and had loved her like a sibling...
Blue eyes stared at his sister's door, and not a moment later that same door opened to reveal a vision in black. Black curls licked smooth porcelain skin, a black corseted dress hugged a voluptuous body and black eyes stared into her brothers blue eyes.
"What are you waiting for? The captain as called for us" Her voice soft and melodious as she took her brothers hand and pulled him up from the bed and towards the stairs that would lead them to the deck.

Jillian Black had bolted to the deck when she heard the first toll of the bell. The salty sea air was invigorating, and she drew the biggest breath she could hold. Her lips were pulled back over her long pointed fangs in an exalted smile. Jillian positively despised being held below deck all the day. How long had it been since she'd seen the sun? She didn't remember.
But that didn't matter. The night was her love now. Still smiling wickedly, she glided over to where the captain was standing. "Where to tonight, sir?"

Varianna folded her arms across her chest, shooting a teasing glare at Aurora. “God knows ye’d be dead and strung up’n the foremast if not for me. So ye’d best heed my advice and respect yer elders.” She nodded slightly to prove her point and made her way towards the stairs. They seemed to do this constantly, firing witty remarks back and forth at each other. Most of the crew wasn’t able to tell if they were friends or enemies, but both knew that neither would ever say anything truly hurtful to the other. It was just the way things worked between them.
She turned abruptly on her heel and looked Aurora with an expression of realization upon her face. “What say… we find ourselves some pleasurable company tonight? Been quite a while… matter of fact, I think the last time we had some fun was with those twins in Nassau…”

Aurora laughed and shook her head causing some of her unruly brown hair to fall out of the braid and fall in front of her face. "Ye may be older Vari but I be wiser..." She tapped her temple a few times to emphasize her words as she followed her friend up towards the deck.
It was an amusing relationship they had, many times she had been asked by other crew members why she hated Varianna so much and she couldn't help but laugh because that was far from the truth.
In the end there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her friend, but what harm was there in a bit of friendly combatant.
Stopping just as abruptly she stared at Vari questionly for a minute before an elegant brow rose and the corner of her lips upturned in a grin. "The Nassau twins... now there be some good times, aye? I do say it's time to have some good fun."

Vlad glanced at Jillian out of the corner of his eye, "How does this port sound?" With that he raised a gloved finger and pointed at the now visible port that came into view. They had kept their ship surrounded in fog, and kept up the invisible trait of it all day, but now that it was night the Captain dropped it after ringing the bell. Now it was the vampire's time to shine.
He grinned, exposing ivory fangs. "Our captives after all, are meant for our pleasure and are to eventually be turned. So, what say I to hitting this port and catching a bite to eat?" He asked a retorical question. He turned to his crew. "All right! We are docking here. The normal non-vampires will not see this ship. They will just take it to be fog over the sea and a section of their port. So, hitch the Noctune up and then we shall have some real fun!" He let out a cold chuckle.
The Captain gingerly steered the ship right beside the dock and then had one of the ship-mates throw down the anchor. Now that they were in place, the Captain let go of the wheel. The ship did not move, and the fog still coated a large area of land not just on the vessel, but also around it.

Bridgitte woke, she always slept through the day til the bell tolled. It was one of her oddities - hanging onto the comfort of sleep and dreams, not that she needed them. She watched with guarded gold eyes - large and prominent, even from beneath her dark bangs that cut nearly straight across her pale forehead- as her more excitable companions ran up to the deck.
Among the vampires she could be deemed the most sedate - the most human. She curled the edge of her lip in a small smile at the thought of being the one with the most conscience, though it was warped to be sure.
She strode up the stairs and onto the main deck, her dark brown locks catching the breeze. Bridgitte smiled in pure joy, her head tossed back, her arms outstretched as the cool spray of the sea hit her.
Her attention was caught for a moment when the captain spoke and she looked expectantly towards the shore, but her hopes were dashed at the sight. A generic port with generic people, not her New Orleans. Ever since she joined Vlad's crew they had only returned to her home once.
Her long easy strides carried her to the captain's side. "We are turning them all?" She asked curiously, was she the only one who found that strange?
------------------------
Jane-Lloyd was was curled up on the floor of the Nocturne. Like the rest of the prisoners both her hands and ankles were shackled together. She shivered uncontrollably, the damp and cold of the ship's underbelly was getting to her, a fever was rising. She was sure of it.
The girl was terrified of everything that moved, and for the first days of her stay on the ship she neither moved nor spoke to anyone out of choice, now she had trouble forcing a sentence from her throat, it was so unused.

Vlad did not even look at Bridgitte as he replied, "Unless they die first, yes." He gave a dark chuckle. More than half of their captives would die by a vampire's hand any way. Most of them would not last for the turning process.

The woman did not respond immediately, momentarily caught up in some random thought. She still listened to the captain, it would be stupid not to do so.
"Do you think that wise, Vlad?" she asked, folding her arms, staring straight ahead, searching the port for something of interest like a tavern, any well populated area where she could find a decent meal. The woman did not like to meander about in such places as they usually were dirty and smelled terrible. She liked to find her food and return to the ship as quickly as possible.
"It is rather crowded on the ship as it is. Adding more would make it nearly unbearable," She finished, this time glancing warily over towards the captain.

Vlad turned to Bridgitte. His eyes had grown hard. "Do not test me Bridgitte." His voice had become lower, and held a slight hiss in it. "The more vampirates and people over all on this ship, the better. That way, if I get angry, I can just kill someone." With that he spun on heel and strode towards the edge of the ship. He climbed up onto the edge and jumped down. His boots landed firmly on the dock. With that he began to walk into the town, his boots clicking with every step.

Bridgitte shook her head. "It was not a test," she insisted, her voice maintaining an odd calm. She found that it was the best way to deal with their captain for he was testy and if one was to let their own temper flair for even a moment then it might cost them.
"It was simply an observation on the carrying capacity of the ship, Captain," she switched to using his title to appeal to his ego.
A small sigh escaped her mouth as her eyes remained fixed absently on the port. The captain she decided was wound quite a bit tighter than usual and maybe it would be best if she let him be for the night. The woman made no comment on his last statement - he was quite welcome to have the last word tonight.
"Happy hunting, sir," she called dully after him, with a vague wave of her hand as he stalked away. With the captain no longer at her side she glared darkly at the shore, not at all pleased that she had to leave the ship.
She pushed herself over the side of the ship and onto the docks below, landing quietly and with bent knees. Her light hand brushed over her pants and shirt wiping away unseen dust as she stood straight.
A small twinkling of a fire hidden by dirty glass caught her eye - she had found her hunting grounds. Bridgitte smiled, her sharp fangs easily visible with the grin and she began to hurry down the pier towards the inn.
