Many long ages ago, a kingdom was born from the stars. None knew how it came to be, only that from the midnight sky a realm was made, and that from some ancient power a queen appeared. The land was called the Starlight Kingdom, and the queen was that of Starlight.
Fear and amazement surrounded the mysterious land. It lay deep in a forest, and at night it came alive with lanterns so bright they seemed caught with stars, glowing gems adorning the leaves of the trees, and strange singing from the maidens of the Starlight queen.
She herself was called Arlaith, and seemed to all that caught sight of her as beautiful, cold and distant as the stars in the sky. She had a grave, sad beauty; for her doom was ever to watch the stars at night, and know she would never reach them, though her monarchy extended far to the sky.

“Your Majesty.”
Arlaith glanced up at the female knight. She smiled faintly. Her steel-grey gaze was steady. “Yes, Estra?” she queried.
“The human ambassador is here. Shall I bring him in?” Estra asked. “I can send him away, if that be your wish.” The queen shook her head.
“No. Send him in.” She looked away, already distracted. Estra bowed in obedience and turned to walk down the long stretch of the great hall, her footsteps ringing on the silvery marble floor.
The huge, ornate doors opened and a man stepped forward. He was clad in white, and carried no sword, perhaps as a sign of peace. “You will follow me.” Estra glared at him, and as she turned gestured than he should follow her.
She led him up to the dais of the queen, where the celestial beauty sat on her throne of intricately carved pale wood. Arlaith turned her head, noticing the ambassador. She smiled.
Arlaith was clad all in pale silver; the silken layers of her gown pooled round her feet like shimmering water. Her starlight-blonde hair was arranged on her knees like veils, and a silver circlet adorned her brow, a star-like gem caught in the middle. Her skin was as pale as moonlight, and a strange light gleamed in those grey eyes.
“You are welcome to my court, ambassador,” Arlaith said finally. “Your king was so good to send you, as a gesture of friendship. I hope our friendship still stands.” There was no edge to her voice, but her words said much; if the human king should think to make an enemy of her and her peaceful realm out of fear or jealousy, he would regret it.
“Thank you, Queen Arlaith, you are gracious,” the man replied with a short bow. “Of course the friendship between our two kingdoms still stands. King Redron would not dream of breaking it.”
“That pleases me,” Arlaith said, with one of her strange smiles. “You may sit.” A servant silently came forward with a chair to place beside the dais, then just as wordlessly walked away.
“That is kind of you.” The man sat down. Estra still looked at him stonily. She had led him in here grudgingly; she didn’t like humans. Her people were a proud and noble race, and would defend their queen at any cost should the need arise. But otherwise, they did not draw swords on any save if a sword was first drawn on them.
“Now,” Arlaith said, “tonight, you shall see the traditions of my people. When the clock strikes midnight we shall go from the palace to watch the stars.” She smiled. “I hope you will join us. There will be entertainments, of course, and music.”
“I would be honoured,” the man replied.
“Very good,” Arlaith said.

~RULES~
- Your character can be from either Arlaith’s court, meaning that they would be of the race of the star people, not human, and bound to serve the Starlight queen, or your character can be from these two races,
- Faerie. They are reverent to Arlaith but are not part of her court. However, they will sometimes visit to observe the ways of the Starlight people. They have magical powers, but do not use them for ill, unless angered, mostly by humans, to whom they do not show much friendship.
- Human. If your character is human, they will then belong to the kingdom of Ruarth under the kingship of King Redron. These people are allied to the Starlight kingdom; there is a sense of fear surrounding it, and King Redron dares not offend Arlaith, knowing that she holds a power far older and greater than his.

Race: Starlight
Age: None can now remember her age, perhaps not even Arliath herself.
Personality: The queen is distant and vague, often distracted. When her attention is caught she is pleasant and mildmannered.
Appearance: Her hair is the colour of the stars at night, pale and shimmering, sometimes caught with shades of pale gold or silver. Her eyes are grey as a swordblade, and her skin whiter than the moon. She is tall and slim, and seems to hold within her an ancient nobility.

Name: Estra
Race: Starlight
Age: 20
Personality: Loyal to the queen above all others. She is confident and proud, and easy to annoy.
Appearance: Sandy white-blonde hair cut to swing about her shoulders. Pale blue eyes and pointed, elegant features, her face seems almost carved from ice.

Name: Ravion
Race: Human, ambassador to King Redron
Age: 24
Personality: Intelligent, observant.
Appearance: Thick brown hair, bright green eyes and lightly tanned skin.

(Okay, so I guess now we can start! Just jump in everyone, the story will begin in Arlaith's great hall in the palace of Starlight, so just throw your character in, hehe! ^_^ Hope you all enjoy the RP!)

Ravion, the human ambassador, had taken leave of his seat beside Queen Arlaith to mingle amongst the various other guests and take a drink from one of the long tables, which was littered elegantly with silver jugs of wine and many different foods. Estra had watched him step back from the dais with some satisfaction. She clearly did not think much of him. She knew that his king feared the power of Arlaith, and she wondered to what purpose he had been sent.
Estra turned her blue gaze onto her queen. "Is there anything I can do for you, Your Majesty?" she asked. Arlaith shook her head with a tiny smile.
"Not as yet, Estra," she replied. "You may leave the dais if you wish. I shall call you if I need your service." Then once again her the silvery-grey of her glance swept past Estra. It was the way of the queen to turn her attention elsewhere; there was always some other distraction. Yet she was not impolite. Estra understood her manners more than anyone else. With a short bow, Estra turned.
There was a large gathering in the hall tonight. Many had come. The starlight people of the court, of course, for it was their home; but faeries too, such was their wim, to observe the quaint and interesting ways of the star race which so fascinated them.
Estra did not mind faeries. It was humans that irritated her.
