I think that LOTR will always be a huge part of my life, I mean, I can't remember not loving it, I read it in the beginning of 3rd grade and 7 times since. I have the posters, books, movies, cards etc. in my room so i'm exposed to it every day, and I can't remember my bedroom without it. I can spout off every random fact you ever wanted to know from memory, so its a constant part of my day.
Even so, the interest was beginning to fade a little, with Eragon jumping in, etc. Then last month I went to Houston Texas and saw the LOTR Trilogy Exhibit twice(4.5 hours each time!) it was such an experience-it made me remember what it was like to see the movies for the first time- that I became sure that whatever else happens, I'm a ringer for life.
And then there's The Hobbit(PJ, don't let me down)!!!
(P.S. Arwen the webmaster; if you ever want to shut this site down, I'll buy it.I have learned from the demise of ninecompanions.net)

^That happens to me to! If for a while I tend to forget about LotR, then I read the books or watch the movies, and then the obsession comes running back. When I finished reading the RotK (for the first time) I was so sad because it ended, and that I wouldn't hear more about these characters and this whole other world, and that got me obsessed. I'll never stop obsessing over it, even if I don't keep coming online and talking to you people. I'll always stay true to it!

I love LOTR way too much to abandon it now... and considering all that it has brought me, I doubt I shall ever leave, and if I do, it won't be for a long, long time...

Although my online presence may fluctuate, I'm a Ringer through and through! LOTR taught me so much about myself, and I learned so many useful skills. Its the perfect series to read while going through those tough teenage years, and I wouldn't have it any other way, I can't imagine what I'd be like without LOTR in my history. My dad read it, my mum read it, and now my brother is reading it, its great! I think I would have become a depressing Emo years back if I hadn't had Gandalf's words of wisdom to repeat to myself over and over like a mantra.
To the Ringers!

Wow, I've never replied to this before.
LOTR has given me so much and means so much to me, there is no way I will ever turn my back on LOTR. Ever.

I can't even imagine life without LOTR and I think that will last for the rest of my life. Everytime I read the book (currently reading again in English instead of Dutch) I keep discovering new facts and interesting issues, so I don't think I will ever get bored with it!

I'm never going to get sick of it, it will forever be a matter of, "Lets hear about Frodo and the ring! And Samwise the Brave!"

*gasp* How can one, who has known the awesomness of LotR and ME ever contemplate leaving! I am certain I shall be obsessed until the day I die! I would go to university to study the literature if I could and my dream is to be in the Hobbit! Man I sounded like the most patheitc fangirl then but seriously, there's so much in it (if that makes sense) that I'll never get over LotR.

I've been a fan for many years, and I don't think I'll ever stop loving LotR,or fantasy in general (if I ever feel like my interest is fading slightly,I just watch the movies again, works every time) but I have a lot of other things on my mind.I'm technically an *cough* adult now,not so much an obsessed fangirl anymore.I don't spend much time here anymore b/c its hard to find the time, besides a lot of the time my computer aint working.
So I'll always be loyal to LotR,its just that I have other stuff to think about.

Leave LOTR behind? Never! I reread the books every single year, since I was 8 or 9. And see, it's already 2009, been years since the movies were out, but I make a point of watching them every year (my mother, unfortunately, doesn't let me and my bro watch all the extended versions in one day like the family of one of my friends who isn't even obsessed with it does). I have too many reasons for liking it that don't involve fangirlism or anything like that to leave it. Ever. It's a classic, it's amazing, it's a beautiful tale, it's...everything. My friends have seen me pass through several random odd short-lived obsessions. This is the only one they can tell anybody that I'm very consistent with. By the way, Merrick, your post hit it right on the head. You are absolutely right about the "drawing into" part.
