Keith woke up with a soundless cry. Nightmares and feverish dreams kept him from sleeping. The burns on his back stung terribly which unabled him to lie down. In these dark moments his mind mulled over past events. How did things get to this? He'd probably deserved it. His fight with Haven, his own stubbornness.. his love for Waverly, no he did not regret that. He never would.

(yeah, I haven't seen Sojo in awhile either... but I think I'll go ahead and post anyway. I'll introduce my new character now...)

Just within the castle walls stood a lone tower surrounded by a small grove of weeping willow trees. The tower wasn't very tall, on the contrary, the top stood only five stories off the ground, and was even dwarfed by the great castle it stood near. The tower was as wide around as a good-sized cottage, and had a single door to the North. Inside lived a single man, a trusted adviser to the king, and a very wise and kind scholar. Very little was known of him outside the castle, yet he knew most of what happened anywhere in the kingdom. Servants in the castle thought it to be magic and called him the red druid, for he always wore red robes, and leaned on a staff of similar color. But though that was the popular thought, there was nothing magical about that man.

Vincent Stormblade stood in a room at the top of the tower, dark eyes gazing thoughtfully over the parts of the city he could see from his abode. With a soft hand he rubbed his black and grey beard, his other hand holding his staff, which was more like a walking stick. A sudden movement on the windowsill brought the scholar out of his deep ponderings. A grey pigeon now perched next to him, cooing at him to releive the burden on it's leg. The gird hopped onto an offered finger, and was carried to one of many roosts that dwelled at the top of the tower. Vincent unattached the not from the pigeon and quickly read it.

As he went back to his place by the window, one phrase left his thin lips. "Now what kind of arrand would keep the Lady Anne out late alone, I wonder."
