Valeriya Z. Petrova

Age: 25

Appearance: Red hair, green eyes, light skin, medium height

Attitude: Deceptively happy, manipulative, calculating, distant to a point, possible sociopath.

History: Born in Russia to Helene and Peter. Peter, her father, was originally from Cardiff where the family relocated after Valeriya's birth. When she was three Peter became involved with UNIT and achieved a high rank and quite a bit of credibility until he retired. Valeriya grew up in a relatively normal household, went to a nice private school where she made impressive grades and finished college with equally good marks and majored in Bio Engineering with a minor in Chemistry. After two years of working in as a lab tech she was offered a job by UNIT in one of there top secret labs where she excelled in thinking out of the box. She quickly climbed through the ranks and met one Harold Saxon during a visit where she made an obvious impression. After winning the election he immediately promoted her and put her in charge of one of the bases out of the country. Namely, in the Himalayas.

Ianto smiled uncertainly, still unsure about why, or how, Bronwyn was standing in the middle of the hub. "Things?" He repeated "Um, things are...things are good." He answered. His brows furrowed for a moment as he tried to think of the best way to word his question. "Um...I don't mean to be rude, Bronwyn, but...why are you here?"

Bronwyn released him and pretend-pouted. "You mean your not pleased to see me?" She sounded sincerely hurt but the sparkle in her eyes gave her away. "Harold Saxon sent me, says he has a very important mission for Torchwood Three and for some reason, he wants me to go along. Says you guys can benefit from my expertise, whatever that means I have no idea. Though I think he knows about my, er, condition." She bit her lip, thinking for a second. "Anyway, he said pack for extreme conditions and that he's going to call you guys this morning to tell us where we're meant to be going. I just hope it's no where sandy."

"Of couse I'm happy to see you, Bronwyn, I just didn't expect you to pop up here." And Saxon?" He asked. "Since when does he, mettle in the affairs of Torchwood Three?" As long as Ianto could remember, Torchwood Three had suffiently run itself, operating its own missions without any outward supervision. Sure, thier leader, Jack was missing, but the team had managed without Jack. Ianto had even become much more involved in field work since Jack's disapearance, making up for the lost field agent. "Did he say anything more about this mission, anything at all?"

Harold Saxon was on the phone in his office, a generally boring task if not for the background music he required for life - blaring music and dancing around the official room seemed to keep the drum beats at bay. He waltzed around the room, cordless phone held to his ear humming as the dial tone turned to a ring.

"Pick up," he willed the other line, "pickuppickuppickup!" He said with a jump, his words quickening as his patience began to diminish.

Brrrrrinnnng. Brrrrriiiinnnngggg. Brrrrriiiinnnnggg.

The phone wouldn't stop. The incessant annoyance of that terrible device. Couldn't people see she was doing something important? A sharp intake of breath expertly hid Valeriya's annoyance.

She straightened in her spinny chair where she was bent over a particularly difficult scientific problem. With a push she was wheeling across the room, her white coat swishing and nearly touching the floor.

"Hello, you have reached Valeriya Petrova. How may I be of assistance?" She questioned, spinning about in her chair, wrapping the curly cord about her finger as opposed to ruining her carefully placed red bun.

"Val! Valeriya! How's my favorite Russian?" The other end chuckled and Valeriya raised her brows, a frown taking her face - it was lucky the man couldn't see the look.

"I'm just fine, Prime Minister. And what do I owe the pleasure of this call?" She questioned, he wanted something. She could hear it.

"I'm in need of some assistance," he said and he gave a puppy dog pout as if it would help him.

"Of course, sir. What do you need?" She asked trying to maintain her happy secretary voice, she wanted to know what was going on, but she did not know if it was worth listening to the man's long winded and wind about explanation.

"Well, I need some help with Torchwood Three. It's nothing much really. I just need you to hop on a plane and get them, play the hospitable caretaker of the compound. Then keep them busy," he said flippantly, turning to his desk, sitting half way on it waiting for a reply. It would be easier to order the woman, but he liked pretending nice first.

"Yes, sir. It would be an honor to assist you," she said, a small smile curling her lips. "And may I ask how you would like me to keep them busy? And for what reason am I doing this?"

He used his shoulder to keep the phone by his ear so he could clap his hands. "And ruin the surprise?! No...and be creative. I'm not picky as to how they are kept busy or if they are even safe while doing it."

She nodded and listened as he listed off her plane number, location and departure time. She noted that it was a private jet. "Very well, sir. I'll make sure it's done."

He nodded and sat back down in his swivel chair. "I know you will," he said his tone darkening.

"Goodbye, sir," she said shortly, but politely.

"Toodles," he said with a grin, hopping back to his feet starting to dance once more. Things were going his way and it felt brilliant!

You work too much.

Toshiko could hear the voices of everyone she'd ever worked with in her mind as she walked from her car to the tourist office. It was still quite early, and raining (though that was hardly a surprise), and it would be a while before Gwen or Owen bothered to show up.

The tourist office was empty, and Tosh continued through the corridors before eventually reaching the cog door.

She'd been expecting to see the place empty, with only the lights from the computer equipment lighting the expansive main floor of the Hub. That, however, wasn't the case. Tosh's eyes locked first on Ianto, then the woman standing by him. At first she thought it was Gwen, but closer inspection revealed that it most certainly wasn't.

"Er, who's this?" she asked Ianto a bit hesitantly, hoping she wasn't interrupting anything terribly urgent or important.

"Watch where you're going, you ******* ***!"

"Oi! You watch it, bloody Welsh!" Owen roared in retort, though he had doubts the Welsh driver who had now given Owen the finger could hear the curse that Owen uttered through closed windows. Just yelling helped him, if only a little. But it didn't help his headache though. Since Jack's disappearance, he had resolved to be, well, somewhat courteous to Tosh and Ianto and Gwen. But that didn't mean he couldn't rage after random Welsh drivers.

He got to work a bit late, but by his standards rather early. As he entered, he heard voices from the Tourist Office. Cautiously, he placed his hand over his gun as he edged nearer...only to see Tosh, Ianto, and someone who Owen did not recognise. He took a more normal gait as he walked over to Tosh and gently whispered, "Umm Tosh, who is she and why is she here?"

Ianto spun to catch a glimpse of Tosh. Just as he was about to answer her querie, Owen slipped into the room and asked the same question.
"This is Bronwyn." Ianto explained. "She's a friend of mine. We used to work together, back at Torchwood One." Flickers of memories flashed through his mind, fragments of his life at Torchwood One, and of times afterwards when Bronwyn had helped him. He pushed those memories aside, at least for awhile. "Apparently Saxon has a job for us." He added. "According to Bronwyn, he should be calling soon."

Bronwyn gave the new arrivals a smile and a nod, then placed a comforting hand on his arm, knowing what he was thinking when he was reminded of Torchwood One and the old regime, before answering his question.
"He hasn't said anything else, no, but your right, he never tends to meddle in Torchwood affairs, mainly UNIT. That's why I agreed to tag along, whatever he's got in store for us, it's gonna be big and you know me Yan, I'm always up for an adventure." She grinned again and winked, before noticing that Gwen had also snuck in behind Tosh and Owen.

This sounded rather dodgy to the doctor. Being here for about five years, he had some idea of UNIT and the other Torchwoods. After all, he came with the team as they scavenged the ruins of Canary Wharf. The Queen didn't want anything to do with Torchwood after that, neither did Whitehall, leaving Jack to his own devices. While he liked Saxon enough, he could not help but remain suspicious as to his motives.

"What's his sudden interest in us?" he asked. "They usually left us well alone."

"I honestly don't know, but it's enough to make my hair stand on end and that's never a good sign. I think we're best to just keep our eyes peeled and to stay vigilant." Bronwyn answered.

Valeriya was bored, she had been bored for the past several hours. She stared out the window, her green eyes fixed on the clouds going by, and then looked forlornly at the five completed Soduku puzzle books stacked on the table in front of her. She should have spaced out the time she took on the puzzles.

Her eyes drifted back to the window and then around the plane that had been hired for the soul task of picking up Torchwood. That was a bit much, but Saxon did like to overdo things. She looked at her watch and stood up from the seat. Her black boots did not make much sound against the carpeted area of the plane.

She knocked on the door leading to the cockpit and was answered by the co-pilot, a tall heavy set man with a thinning hairline.

"Yes?" He blustered, slightly annoyed - he did not enjoy being questioned by people, Valeriya noted. Perhaps an insecurity issue.

"How much longer?" She asked shortly and she remembered to add a smile to punctuate the question to make it civil.

"Bout 3 hours, Miss," he responded in a disarmed manner. Her smile widened, too easy.

"Thank you," She said turning back to take her seat, pulling out her mobile and dialing the number given to her which she could only assume lead to Torchwood's main phone.

She heard someone pick up, but did not wait for the first greeting, it was all business right now.

"This is Valeriya Petrova, I am calling on behalf of Prime Minister Harold Saxon. I am to bring you to your destination, which I am unable to disclose at this moment," make it sound a bit dangerous, she thought. "I need you to be ready in three and a half hours with bags packed at the air bay at UNIT headquarters. That is all, thank you."

She stopped and then thought. "Oh, and you should pack warm," she
added as an after thought before clicking the off button on her phone.

(The person on the other line is up to y'all.)
