(You definitely didn't ruin his character ^_^ He's as grumpy and brilliant as always! )
Vanya sat down on one of the intricately carved benches in the Rivendell garden. It was only morning, and she already felt tired of this day. Every day was another beginning, a new awakening of all her hurts. Though she showed no outward sign of it, Vanya was in fact a very lonely person. She spent most of her time here, or in her room, retreating from the company of others. In her sanctuary she read; over time she had collected quite a library of books, books of her own people, and literature of many other folk - one of her favourite books was Gondorian.
Before her family had left, she had spent much time singing; her voice had been praised highly on those nights in the hall of fire. It had been soft but strong, a pale fire had seemed to glimmer into the words she sang. There was something strange and lovely about it, but Vanya refused to sing for anyone anymore. Not even if they clapped her or downright pleaded. As far as Vanya was concerned, her time for singing was over.

Arianna wandered the paths of the gardens of Rivendell. Her hair fell over her face, keeping her eyes from view. The sky was gray, and almost sad looking. The cool breeze pulled dead, brown leaves across the hard dirt path. She bent to one of the flower bushes. She lifted her hand up to one of the soft, pink flowers. She plicked the flower and lifted it up to her nose. She wandered, with the flower still in her hand, through the halls of Rivendell. She stopped at one of the graceful balconies over looking one of the astounding waterfalls. She stood at the rail, staring at the ceaseless water. She lifted her hand up, and dropped the flower. The flower slowly fluttered down into the rushing water. Her eyes followed it, and a tear slipped from the corner of her eye. Her thoughts were turned to the past. The one she loved was now dead, his soul had left this world. She would never see him again. Arianna abruptly turned away from the balcony and fled into the inner courts of Rivendell.

Meldiron, though it was only morning, already felt tired. It had been a long, dark night again. With his cloak wrapped snugly around him, he looked out over the glistening horizon. Rivendell was a place of great peace, and even greater beauty, though this peace seemed to come only to those who were ready to receive it. Meldiron knew that he was not ready. He had been here for two months already... two long, blurred months. He had come here with his mother... his poor, dear mother... to seek healing from her ailments. She just hadn't been able to recover properly from her husband's death, and this soon affected her health. Finally, after years of coaxing and increasing pain, Meldiron had convinced his mother, Amariel, to seek aid at the hands of Lord Elrond of Rivendell. Elrond was always willing to help the Rangers of the North, and he had offered to help Amariel several times. Now it was time to take up that offer.
Meldiron took two more steps forward before he stopped again. He now noticed that he was not alone - there, just a little way ahead of him, sat a cold, majestic, red-haired elf. He observed her closely, trying to remember what in Middle Earth her name was. Varda... no, of course not... Alya? No, that was not it, either... Did it start with a V, or did it start with an A? He'd never spoken to her, but he had inquired as to who she was. She seemed as though she might be somewhat frigid in conversation... but one could always try. Vanya! That was it, wasn't it? He smiled ever so slightly. Vanya.
Short, shuffling footsteps behind him startled him out of his reverie. He turned and saw Amariel coming toward him. "Another morning, eh, my son?" she said, a weary smile on her lips. "Mother..." Meldiron protested. "It's cold out here... you'll catch cold again..." He walked the remaining distance to her, wrapping a strong, cloaked arm around her. "I'm fine," she said, giving him a look of motherly reproach. "I need some fresh air after that long night." Sighing, she tried to shut out the memory of another night of pain and terror. That nightmare had come back again, and with it fresh waves of remembrance and illness. Meldiron nodded. "Please don't stay out too long, then?" he asked in a pleading tone. "Don't worry about me," she replied, but then softened. "I'll only stay out a few minutes."

Vanya remained sitting on her bench, listening to the trickling of the waterfall in the background. She was absorbed in her thoughts; she had barely noticed Arianna walking along the garden paths, before swiftly turning and disappearing into the house. Her thoughts had been otherwise engaged, far away over the sea. Now, as she heard voices drifting towards her, she was snapped out of her daydream; her cold blue eyes flickered to the man and the woman standing together. They were obviously mortal; the man looked like one of the rangers of the North, and he looked concerned, putting his arm around the woman, who Vanya had faintly heard him address as "mother".
She looked away from them. She had heard something about a ranger staying here with his sick mother; they must be the ones. She had never spoken to them; it was no personal slight towards them, for she spoke to nobody.
She felt a small stab of envy towards them, yet she showed no outward sign of it; they were the only ones of their kind here, yet they had each other. Above anything else in the world Vanya desired to have her brothers back again, her parents. But they would never come back. They had chosen the retreat of the sea over her. They had wanted her to come with them, of course; yet some part of Vanya had not been able to do it.

(Maeth, the thought of Mordel forcing Gandalf to stay in bed greatly amuses me for some reason. XD)
(I've decided to toss in a Dwarf charrie of mine as well, if no one minds. I'll put up his bio the next time I post. I'll bring him in when Gimli and the other dwarves from Erebor arrive, or maybe sooner.)
Nock and Bolt walked through the hallways of Elrond's house, talking and enjoying themselves greatly. Both had been delighted to find that Rivendell was still much the same as it had always been, despite the fact that many of its past inhabitants were no longer there.
"Do you suppose Lord Erestor will throw me out of the library again?" Nock asked with a mischevious grin as they walked through the healing wing on their way to the library.
"I suppose that depends on whether or not you somehow manage to drop a very rare book into the fountain again." Bolt answered with a grin of his own.
"I told you that was an accident!" Nock said with a fake frown of displeasure. Bolt just rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I have heard that Mithrandir is here somewhere. I should like to see him again. We did not get the chance when he was in Mirkwood last."
Nock grinned once more. "Are you sure he would want to see you? After all, you did knock his hat into the enchanted river last time we met him."
"We both know that you were the one who did that and blamed it on me!" Bolt snapped, annoyed. Nock just laughed and shoved his annoyed twin a bit as they contiued walking down the hall.

The first rays of the sun warmed the dark skin of the cloaked traveler. Although she'd wrapped her cloak tightly around her frail body, her face was still visible just like some locks of her raven black hair. The woman hardly moved and her bend figure just swayed a little as if she was hardly awake. Her horse slowly made his down the valley, seemingly feeling the same fatigue as his human rider.
The Harad woman for that's what she was, Firyal, had been riding for days, weeks even. She'd lost track of time after she'd escaped the dry country where she'd always lived but never had felt at home. She rode northwards over fields and through forests but never meeting a living soul except some deer. She ate what the forests offered her, mainly berries and mushrooms but lately her food supply had grown thin.
Three days ago she'd come across a settlement. More scared than excited she'd passed groups of huts which to her horror belonged to Beornings, or the bear-people she liked to call them. They were rough and unfriendly folk who could take form of a bear. Firyal feared them and thought them to be cursed. When they demanded toll for her passage the only thing she could give them was her necklace, her last and only reminder to her mother.
That night the continued her journey, deeper into the mountains, over the High Pass. For two days she rode on, non-stop, not daring to sleep as she feared the stone giants who had hidden in high caves.
Now she hardly noticed the new realm she entered nor did she realise that there was a figure standing on the middle her path. Only when her horse suddenly stopped she woke up with a gasp.
[ The person on the path could be anyone.. ]

(Mordel forcing anyone to do anything is amusing. And may I say woot! I'm bringing in Maeth, who is extra psycho in this rp because of the time frame. Sorry.))
Maethoriel was bored that morning. That seemed to be the way she lived now, a long stretch of boredom eased by small interests. However this was the mind numbing boredom of being cooped up in one place too long. And she couldn't have that. So, as was customary when war's daughter got bored it was only fitting that someone should die.
Not three miles from the valley where Elrond's halls lay the woman had found a very unfortunate orc scout who was now the soul source of her entertainment. She had first caught the soft web of flesh between the creature's helmet and shoulder, her cruel and cleverly made gauntlets digging into the skin forcing him to his knees. It was about this time that she realized that the thing might be of use besides fun. He had information, she could tell it by the terrified look in his eye - though, that could be due to the scarred woman leering above him.
"What are you here for?" She demanded, knocking the thing completely backward so that her knee dug into his chest, cutting off just enough air to be uncomfortable.
No words came from the victim, it only writhed under her and attempted to knock her back with a haphazard back hand which she caught easily. Her grin widened.
"That was not smart," she said looking at his hand in a mix of amusement and interest. The orc squealed as it realized what was going to happen, and it swung with it's free hand, clawing at her face. The marks it made were few long crosses on her cheek, but Maethoriel was quicker than it and had a stiletto dagger in her hand before it could strike again. A scream issued from his mouth as she pinned the offending limb to the ground like a insect collector does to the wings of a butterfly.
"Not at all smart," she said snapping the creature's thumb, the information was forgotten once more and she laughed as pain marred it's already hideous face. Snap. Snap. Snap. Snap. The other four fingers were finished, and she was pleased to see they warranted the same reaction as the first.
She opened her mouth to ask another question and frowned when she noticed it had stopped moving. Passed out from pain. That was unfortunate.
"Useless," she grumbled, sliding the dagger previously sheathed in the thing's bicep and stabbing it through it's trachea.
Something was different now...she turned to face a horse and a now awake girl. She stood slowly from the dead creature and swaggered forward, the smile on her face not quite right.
"Many greetings," she forced her voice to stay calm and cool as opposed to it's usual rough sound.
"Who are you?"
----------------------------------
Mordelwen had to wait for the water to heat for a good ten minutes before the kitchen staff deemed it perfect for the wizard. It was obvious they wanted their brew to be perfect for such a well known man. However when they asked what sort of tea Gandalf had requested Mordelwen was forced to admit she did not know.
This of course led to a debate as to what would be appropriate for his condition, and a few of the older elves also threw in what knowledge they had on the man's favorite food.
"I am sure Mithrandir would not want you worrying over this," Mordelwen said with a smile which was for once met with slightly annoyed stares and then they were back to arguing.
Finally it was decided that she could just bring him a box of tea bags along with the cup - which Mordelwen would have said was cold by now, but she didn't want to wait any longer lest the man have escaped.
So that was how she ended up walking down the hallway with more care than it should take an elf, in her hand a box and the other a carefully balanced tea cup.
Mordelwen was so intent on the task the she nearly ran straight into Nock and Bolt, only just managing to squeeze between the tight space between them. Although, that may have been more awkward than just running into them and dropping her things.
"Oh!" She exclaimed and it would have been accompanied by a hand to her mouth if both were not previously occupied. "Forgive me, my lords. I was not paying proper attention to my course I am afraid. I do hope I spilled nothing," she said looking them over for signs of water stains.

Firyal stared the woman with her dark eyes. She was not a human for her ears were pointed and her skin pale though they were covered with scars. She looked fearsome even aside from the fact that she still held a dagger in her hand. At the woman's feet lay a dead Orc and judging from the damage she'd done to it, Firyal thought the murder had only been committed out of spite.
The Harad woman felt awkwardly vulnerable and her fingers quickly searched for the calming feel of the cool steel of the dagger she'd found on the road. Although she'd never used such a weapon before, she knew that she would if she was forced to. Her skin would immediately betray her identity and Firyal wondered if there had ever been any of her kin in Middle earth.
"Many greetings" the woman's cool voice said, followed by another question. "Who are you?"
"Does it matter?" she countered with her soft voice. It was still hoarse as if she hadn't used it for some time.

Both Nock and Bolt had been extremely surprised when Mordelwen sqeezed passed them, but they did not seem to mind. "No harm done, my lady." Said Bolt with a slight bow and a smile.
Nock bowed also and grinned. "Think nothing of it, my lady."
They could both tell that Mordelwren was in a hurry, so Nock said quickly. "Could you tell us where Mithrandir is staying? We have heard that he is here and greatly desire to see him again."
Bolt elbowed Nock ard in the arm. "The lady is busy, Nock. We can find Mithrandir ourslves." Turning back to Mordelwin, he smiled again. "Forgive us, my lady, for keeping you from your business." He said with another bow.

Maethoriel smirked as she saw the girl take in her look, she had forgotten she rolled her sleeves. She looked down at her sun darkened fore arms - although they were not as dark as Firyal - and almost smiled at the silvery scars that marred the flesh. They all wove together in such a pattern that that it looked like the woman may actually be held together with scars with real flesh only interspersed between the lines. She sniffed, and pulled down the sleeves in a half-hearted effort to calm the girl, that and she usually didn't parade them about for the world. Questions were a bit annoying to answer.
As she was buttoning the cuffs she looked up at the girl with something a kin to interest, but with sharper and possibly more violent intentions. "It could matter," she said, the lupine smile returning to her face.
"You need not tell me that you come from Harad, though," the woman continued, talking to the girl but looking at her sleeve. "I recognize the dress," she said with a smirk. "A name would suffice and then a reason next," the woman said. And although the sentence was quiet and bordering civil, it was not at all a question.
--------------------------
Mordelwen let out a relieved sigh and grinned back at the man nodding in response to his bow as a curtsy or anything like it were out of her range at the moment.
"Thank you, my lord. I am afraid I am just a bit unaware of my surroundings today," she said with a small frown. Her head swiveled to look at Nock and she opened her mouth to reply, but it was quickly put down by Bolt's interruption.
"Nonsense, my lord," she finally managed to say through their conversation. "We are going the same way. I am looking after Mithrandir at this moment, and I am most certain that he would quite enjoy company to relieve his boredom."

She stared at the Elf who carefully bottuned up her sleeve. It almost seemed that Firyal had caught her in an intimate moment and that she was now ashamed. The woman had looked like a predator with her prey at her feet but thirsty for more.
The tone in her voice confirmed Firyal's worst hope. She was seen as an evil, an enemy. Her people had done more than enough to the people of Middle Earth to support the prejudices against them, to hate and fear the people of the South.
"Do not judge as quickly as you wield your blade. It is not I with a dagger in my hand. I do not come from Sauron" She removed her hood and uncovered her dark hair. "Why should I confide in you?" She half expected the Elf to grow angry her and she quickly continued. "My name is Firyal, and yes I am Harad. Now take me to your Lord and I shall speak to him about my whereabouts."

"No, you shall not," a voice came suddenly from the right. An elf stepped out of the woods on the right of Firyal's horse. She looked the girl up and down, who seemed ready to drop from her horse. "You first need rest and plenty of food, maybe then you shall be fit to see our lord," Arianna said. She took the horse's reins from the girl's hands, pulled them up over the horse's head, and started walking along the path towards Rivendell. She didn't really care that the girl probably could have steered her own horse to the stables. Arianna needed something other to think about than the past. Her barefeet made no sound on the hard packed dirt. She didn't look back to see if Maethoriel was following. She didn't care for her, as she was brutal and enjoyed others' pain and suffering. After a few minutes of slow going, they came to the stables. She stopped just outside the elegant arch that was the entrance. She looked up at the human. "Do I need to drag you off your horse, or are you going to get off?" she asked, with a slight grin. "I may be old," she said, "but there's still plenty of strength left in my arms."
