Edgar Allan Poe is one of my favorite authors! I love The Bells, The Raven, The Pit and the Pendulum, and The Goldbug... and just about everything else. Don't you just love the shivers you feel when you read his works? I read in the beginning of a book of Poe's works that Poe liked to prey on the fears of the people that lived in his time. This includes being buried alive, murders, etc.

Oh and how could I possibly forget about Some Words with a Mummy!! That one is so funny... in a Poe-ish sort of way.

Annabel Lee is definitely my favorite poem of all time (Random fact: The beginning of Nabakov's Lolita is based on that poem). And I am quite fond of The Fall of the House of Usher and Cask of Amontillado. I have all his works in a huge volume, it's amazing.

Oh, I do very like the works of Allan Poe. He did such a great job by writing these weird stories. However, he was never appreciated by the critics.
My fave stories are the Pit and the Pendulum, Hop Frog, A Tale of the Ragged Mountains, A Descent into the Maelstrom, etc.
Has someone read The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym?
Someone told me that this novel is not that great as his short stories are.

Ah! The Raven is classic. I love Annabel Lee best though I think. Amazing stuff... I love his story too (not written, but his real life), of his romance with Eliza.
Good Poe link with lots of poems to read: http://oldpoetry.com/oauthor/show/Edgar_Allan_Poe

I love Edgar Ellen Poe Poems! My favourite one is "The Raven" classical and always good when I have this "I-need-to-get-a-light-and-soft-shiver-mood" But they are all good. They are dark...but still ful of wisdom...if you understand them. I love them

May i ask something stupid?
One of my fave Poe story is the Pit and the Pendulum...and today I have remembered something I didn't quite understand when reading it: I wonder what was in the pit? You know that at the end of the story, before he was saved, he nearly fell down to the pit, but his reactions towards the pit, when he saw its content were so frightening, that I was very curious what he could possibly see there... Probably he saw rats there, but I'm not sure...I really wanna know what was so scary there.
What do you think?

I also have to admit that the Raven in one of my favourites. I also love Annabel Lee. It's just so sad. Sad and beautiful.

As far as I understood it there was water under it and the walls were getting hotter and closing in on him so he had to jump down one time...and would of course eventually drown in it but then he got saved.
Wow...I loved the pit and the pendulum...

I love Edgar Allen Poe! I am a HUGE fan of his works. He, along with Lewis Carroll, is my hero and inspiration in my writing. I can never get enough of reading his dark works. My favorite piece of his is without a doubt "Masque of the Red Death". I also love "The Black Cat" and of course all of his poetry. I read his works every year for Halloween.
