Gandalf nodded after a moment, his face still set. Once again he looked around the white room with its grand arches and filtering light, and was comforted by the warmth of the Elvish hospitality. No evil would enter these halls, at least. And of that he should be proud.
"Good, then Lord Elrond still has a while in which to prepare for the coming of more company. He will be happy for such," the old wizard said with a smile. It seemed that, for the moment, he was pleased.
-----------------------------
Mordelwen shook her head and gave the man a reassuring smile. "Worry not, my friend," she soothed. "I am quite well, and nothing you have spoken of causes me grief. It is just that I feel for Lady Arianna's plight. She delights in nothing anymore, and I should like to see her smile again," she explained with a small nod.
"For indeed she has offered much help to those of my order and has served well under Lord Elrond, and for these reasons I and the other healers wish her well. But the heart does not mend, it seems, we fear she might fade."
-----------------------------
Maethoriel couldn't help but give another one of her laughs. The whole entire situation was so ludicrous, she was surprised that no one else saw the humor in it - though she supposed that not all could have her good nature. A viscous smile came up at that thought.
The dwarves, she decided were far too entertaining to leave to their own devices. A small lie was all that it took to secure her fun for at least the afternoon.
She looked to Hadhod and her scarred brow quirked upward. "Your memory, it would seem, serves you less than you would like. For I herald not just from the Eldar, but the Numenorians as well. Surely you did not forget," she pretended to have a revelation. "Oh, but you must be getting senile, Hadhod. A shame.
The half-elf had the high ground now, and because of this she reinstated her more comfortable straight back position, her arms folded as she met the dwarf's glare evenly.
"But enough banter," she said flippantly, as if she were talking with old friends. "It seems that the Lord Elrond anticipated your trouble and has sent me to assist in your arrival. I shall be your guide," she shortened, still grinning - watching for reactions.
"You lie," Grair muttered. "You reek of orc, Elf, and to much ale - a habit that you seemed to have failed in abandoning," the smug reproach bounced off her frame remarkably well.
"Mayhap it was only a side effect of waiting for those ill informed of the land," she returned.
The dwarf huffed and shook his head, stepping back towards Had giving him a look. Muttering as he did so, "This is complete tosh," he complained. However, it looked as though none of the other dwarves were going to back up his ideas this time around.

Bolt seemed relieved that Gandalf was pleased, if only for now. He hated to see anyone depressed or saddened, especially in such a beautiful place as Rivendell. He seemed suddenly to recall something, for he said: "I have just remembered. King Thranduil requested that if anyone saw you, we were to again thank you for being so willing to entertain us with your fireworks last autumn during the fall feast. He realizes how busy you were at that time, as you often are, and he is grateful that you took the time to do so. It was a great delight to our people. My brother and I especially enjoyed the ones where the silver arrows fell from the sky like rain." He wore a wide grin as he spoke, looking suddenly more like an elfling than a full grown warrior.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nock smiled once more, though it was still somewhat subdued. "Perhaps I could help you in trying to cheer her up. A sorrowful heart is a serious thing, I know. I have seen many elves fade from such things as a broken heart, and I know that it is painful to watch someone you care for go through that." Shrugging, he leaned against the wall. "If there is anything I could do to help your friend, I would very much like to do so."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hadhod swore under his breath once more, clutching his walking axe tightly. "I remember, elf." he snapped at her. "Numenorians, elves. They're all the same to me." To himself he mumbled things about his memory being good as ever and how dare she call him senile in front of the others, but this he kept to himself.
Had grolwed in agreement with Grair, and continued to glare at Maeth moodilly. "We don't need a guide." He snapped. "And least of all one like you, elf. We'll find the way ourselves." He said stubbornly. But it seemed as if Grair was the only one who agreed with him.
Hadhod swore once more and glanced around at his companions before looking up at Maeth once more and pulling himself to his full height, which still looked short next to the tall elf woman. "I don't trust you, elf." He stated gruffly. "We both know you've always been a trouble maker. Whats to say that you don't plan to lead us around in circles all day?"
(I like it when Had and Maeth don't like each other. xD Its fun. But I like it when they're friends again, too.)

(As I said in my PM, Saira, of course you can join! )
Rivendell was very slowly coming into view; the sound of running water faintly sounded in Lainathiel's ears. The silence had stretched out for quite a while now; lazily, Lainathiel brought her horse alongside Arianna, who had just stooped to pick up then drop a flower that sprung along the path. A gust of wind shivered stray strands of Lainathiel's raven black hair, the rest of which was swept off her piercingly striking features in a series of complicated Elven twists and knots.
"You're one of the healers, are you not?" Lainathiel finally questioned the other elf. "I find you somewhat familiar."
~~~
Vanya headed towards the breakfast hall, rose pink skirts swishing in a flurry of silk. Her footsteps echoed along the hall as she walked along. She was lovely beyond endurance, and colder than a winter, starlit night. She never looked left or right, only ever ahead of her; anyone who beheld her would know she was inapproachable, and any word spoken to her very well might go unheeded.
Yet she had not always been a maiden of such cold temperament; once she had laughed, and smiled, and the sound of her singing had been joyous and glad. But now all had changed, and it seemed no smile would ever form on her lips again.
[ Yes, I am here  ]
Although Firyal realised the seriousness of the situation she could help but be distracted by the beauty of nature around her. Everything seemed lush and green. There were shapes and colours of flowers she'd never seen before nor had she realised how majestic trees could be. There lingered a sweet scent in the air which could be associated with mowed grass and strawberries but the young woman knew neither of these phenomena.
She was astound that there were so many women on the road. That is, women were not escorted by any family members. They seemed so independant.. free.. Something she'd never seen before.
Firyal woke up from her slumbers upon entering the realm of Rivendell which was situated in a beautiful valley. She looked at her companions and asked: "Will your Lord receive me now?"
{Muhaha  I got accepted. I think I'll toss in Saira - because she know at least a few of the charries -cough-Maeth-cough-
Sairahiniel
Race: Valinor Elf
Age: She lost track after the first few millenia...
Appearance: Tall, autumn haired, grey-green eyes. Her skin has an olive-bronze tint from all the time she spends in the sun.
Family: Two sons (deceased), Husband (also deceased)
Sairahiniel was one of the last elves to leave Valinor, and she only did so as her father urged her to. While on ship she fell in love with a young deck hand, and married him shortly after they landed. After her husband died, she moved with her sons to the Grey Havens. She apprenticed them to a ship maker, while she undertook the study of the ocean and sailing. During the middle of the second Age, she had her sons build her a ship, and became a captain. Unfortunately, mercenaries slaughtered her crew, with her sons among them. After three years of mourning, she came back, ordered a new ship and spent the next few centuries slaughtering every Corsair she could lay her hands on. When she'd had enough and her reputation was well established, she returned to land, dwelling in Lothlorien. Lady Galadriel took it upon herself to tame this wild, strange woman and to all appearances the Lady did so. Sairahiniel did not make many friends, and she chose to keep much to herself when she wasn't in Galadriel's company.
However her adventuresome nature made her leave after two dozen years, and she found herself in Harad, where she learnt the art of healing from a witch-woman. The rebellions which took place there periodically drew her to the court, where she began to pay close attention to politics, and soon became highly adept in power manipulations. However, her stange coloring and rising power, brought her much attention and once the assassins became inconvenient, she left and returned to the West, only to bump into Gandalf and accompany him to Mirkwood where she stayed till trouble began again with the Necromancer, and after it was over with Galadriel sent her back to the sea, to keep watch.
Exquisite manners, and a charming smile are her trademark, but those who know her know how quick she is with her sarcastic wit.
Weapons: Two long daggers and a sword.
I'll start my post here as well...}
---------------------------------------
The huge bronze stallion was playing tired. A sigh came from the cloaked figure on his back. "Come on Baron... Its only a few more miles. I promise you'll have four carrots and sugar."
At that he perked up his ears and picked up a quick trot. The cloak slumped and seemed to doze. They went no more than a half mile before the voices started.
"But enough banter. It seems that the Lord Elrond anticipated your trouble and has sent me to assist in your arrival. I shall be your guide."
Straightening, she failed to catch the last sentence from another voice. A chuckle, and the figure dismounted, edging towards the source of conversation. She knew that voice too well to pass the opportunity. There was bound to be some fun involved. At least she hoped so. You never really knew with...
"We don't need a guide. And least of all one like you, elf. We'll find the way ourselves."
Dwarves. What else could it be?
Sighing thoughtfully, the shadow assessed the situation. Barging in had a certain charm to it and it would cause her friend no end of anguish to be disrupted. On the other hand if she waited too long she would lose the opportunity to tweak everyone's noses. Interfering now seemed like the only way to get into the most possible trouble.
"Ah Maeth!" Pushing back the hood to let a tumble of autumn curls escape down her back, she stepped behind the brunette, her eyes twinkling. "Harassing the little men as usual I see." There was a clinical quality to the observation and a mildly interested expression on her face. "Do carry on. I was just riding through, and the morning was getting dull. I desperately need some entertainment."
She knew that the woman would probably kill her for this, but it was well worth it.
((Sorry I'm so very slow!  Hopefully I'll be able to post a little more often now.))
Meldiron and his mother slowly made their way to the breakfast hall. As Almarea was not very strong this morning, she had to lean heavily on her son's arm. Going all the way out to the garden had been quite a walk already, but the morning air had done quite a bit of good for her spirit. Lord Elrond was not pleased when she overworked herself, but what could he say to this? Everyone needs some fresh air. A small sigh escaped from her lips, causing Meldiron to slow a little with a quizzical look on his face. Almarea smiled and weakly waved her hand. "I'm fine. Just a little tired." She hoped that perhaps some food in the stomach would put strength into her.
No plans for the day had yet been made by Meldiron, and his thoughts were preoccupied with trying to decide what to do. With his mother in this state again today, he knew that it would be best not to go far. The breakfast table would be a good place to talk with his mother more and get her advice.
Lainathiel glanced upwards at Firyal. "I imagine he will," she replied, speaking to the Harad girl for the first time. "Lord Elrond will wish to see any visitor who enters Imladris in suspicious circumstance." Though the words seemed hostile, her tone was kind enough. She offered the girl a half-smile and looked towards her old home; Rivendell truly was a beautiful place. She had not stepped foot on it's fair soil for a long while.
~~~
Upon entering the breakfast hall, Vanya had somewhat of a small surprise. There they were once more, Meldiron and Almarae, the mortals she had seen in the gardens. A small expression of recognition flickered across her usually emotionless features, before she quickly looked away and swiftly went to collect some breakfast. She took a small plate of fruit and crossed the hall to sit in a windowseat, alone, as she always did.
She had heard that the lady Almarae had an illness of some kind, and had been brought to Imladris so that she might be healed. Sure enough, from what Vanya had seen, she did not look well this morning.

((Umm... could you wait a little to post that last paragraph, Will? I need to respond to Goldleaf.))
Arianna glanced up, surprised to see another she-elf mounted on a horse next to her. She had not heard her approach. She straightened her back and stood up straight. "Yes, I am a healer. Arianna is my name, may I ask yours?" she said. She watched the other elf. She didn't think she had noticed the Harad woman, Firyal.
((I think Vanya and Arianna should maybe become better friends later... they share the love of the gardens... Maybe?))

The breakfast hall at last was reached, and the mother and son duo had each found themselves a plate of food. Almarea wordlessly looked at her son, gentleness written in every line of her face, and Meldiron nodded his head toward a table by a window. Almarea nodded in return, and Meldiron pulled out two seats for them. Although he would not have admitted it to his mother, who was blissfully unaware, he was desperate to start a conversation with the red-haired she-elf seated in that very window. Almarea had taken the seat with her back to Vanya, leaving Meldiron with quite a good view. Quickly finishing his breakfast, he brushed off his hands and looked at his mother somewhat more eagerly than he had intended. "Mother?" he asked as he dusted the crumbs off his shirt. "Would... would you mind if I went and talked to someone for a few minutes?" He flashed a big smile, and Almarea could not help but smile in return.
Rising from the table, Meldiron looped around toward Vanya. "Hello?" he said softly.

(Syneva - Vanya's not exactly the most friendly of people, so it would be pretty difficult for her and Arianna to form a friendship, but we could give it a go )
"Arianna." Lainathiel pondered over the healer's name for a few moments before nodding. "Mine is Lainathiel." Her gaze swivelled back to the view of Rivendell she had been admiring, almost forgetting the people beside her; she seemed to remember herself after a while and turned a strange smile towards Arianna and Firyal; her eyes rested on the young Harad woman again. "And pray, what is yours? For to introduce you to our Lord we must do so by name."
~~~
Nothing could have surprised Vanya more than the sight of the mortal man leaving his table to approach her. For a few moments she remained silent, staring at him, his quiet greeting hanging in the air. Her lovely features remained surprised, icy blue eyes unblinking. Then a small frown formed on her brow and she inclined her head. "Good morning." Those were the first words she had spoken to anyone in about a week. Her voice was quiet yet not weak; it had a soft confidence, a reserved dignity. She looked at Meldiron, wondering what it was that he wanted. There could be nothing to gain from conversation with her.
Her pale, slim hands remained folded and still on her lap, and her white neck was poised at an angle as she looked up at the man, the dark red hair lying in thick waves in bright contrast to her ethereal skin. She waited, showing every appearance of patience. But no smile formed on her lips; the surprise at being approached had gone and was now replaced with the usual cold, numb glacial expression.
