Well, most of them don't have a personality. The only "prince" who we meet for any length of time is the Beast, and, erm....yeah. Oh, and Eric I suppose. But yeah. We don't have many strong male characters in them anyway.

Eric's fairly strong... maybe not Beast or Aladdin strong, but he's got a bigger role than some others. And Cinderella's Prince gets very developed in the 3rd movie...

I've never seen the third one. I've been told I should watch it, but I almost refuse to watch sequels as a matter of principle. :teehee: And while Eric does have a bigger role than some of the others, I still wouldn't call him a main character. But ah well. It happens.

So I know it's been out for a while, but have people seen Princess and the Frog now? :P

I don't think I've posted here for a long time. Bad me.

I always thought the Snow White image looked like Rachel Weisz. Never knew there was a series of them. :P That one is my favourite I think. They definitely could have used better people for the characters. Although Oliver Platt as the Mad Hatter is awesome.

My favourite prince is probably Philip. I think they definitely tried to give the hero character, and I believe they succeeded. I love the way he talks to his horse (who reminds me of Phillipe in BATB) and I just think that was the turning point for the princes.

YES! Princess and the Frog. Awesome. Disney is back baby! :D

I haven't seen PatF yet, I'm glad Disney's gotten back to their old animation though. But honestly the movie didn't really appeal to me

But anyway I heard that they might be making a Snow White film, similar to what Tim Burton did with Alice in Wonderland, with the darker storyline and such. Don't quote me on it though, it's just what I read online somewhere, and as we all know, you can't trust everything on the internet. ;-)

Really wanting to go back to Disney World next year, here's hoping I can save up enough cash. xx

Why doesn't it appeal to you Ara?

But of course LEE!

Have any of you heard about the new movie Tangled? It was originally a Rapunzel story, but then they wanted to get more boys to see it so they changed it to focus a lot more on the guy.
Quote:
Originally titled Rapunzel, Disney Animation's "Tangled" marks the studio's 50th full-length animated feature. Directed by Byron Howard (Bolt) and Nathan Greno, the film centers on bandit Flynn Rider (voice of Zachary Levi) who hides out in a mysterious tower only to be taken hostage by Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair.

Flynn's curious captor, who's looking for her ticket out of the tower where she's been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs.

It was also originally going to be in more of a 2D style, but they changed it. :disgust: Apparently because PatF didn't do as well as they hoped? Or something. Still, it's Zachary Levi which makes me super happy. And it looks like it could be cute.

^ Hmmm... that sounds more like Shrek meets another zany Dreamworks film to me. That story really doesn't appeal to me whatsoever. If it's going to be another one of these female kick-bottom character vehicles, then I am going to scream.

I hope something changes between now and the release, as that doesn't appeal to me, and it doesn't feel like it's going to be your usual Disney story based on a fairytale. And they need to make a few more films in 2D before they can determine whether the stories are good enough to draw people in. There's no point making one 2D film every 5 years.

Yay! Thank you!

I was not a huge fan of PatF. The story line was cute, but the whole voodoo thing was just beyond creepy. Just not my style.

I had not her about Tangled, but I'm gonna go with JF. That just does not sound applying to me. It just sounds like another "stupid prince the girl will save you" movie. What happened to movies like Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. I kind of like the idea of being rescued by a daring(and dashing) young prince.

I agreed with all of you, but I am guessing they are aiming for the more feminist view point that women are independent and don't need a prince to save them, but they fail to realize how much a good D.I.D. story can be.

I actually enjoyed, Princess and the Frog. It was a complete deviation from the actual storyline, but I had two little girls squeeing and snuggling with me, so maybe I was a tad mellow. They were SO freaked out by the voodoo stuff, though. I think that for the rating it was a tad freaky for the little people.

Tangles sounds.... meh. I miss Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Sniff.

Gah! Beauty and the Beast is one of my all time favorites! I love that movie sooo much! I don't know how many times I have watched it. I want to be in that play more than anything. I never will, but oh well. I shall have to stick with just seeing it.

[coloe=white]Never mind little people, I was freaked out!

Seriously great to have a villain that comes complete with their own music and just general atmosphere... like the Disney villains of old. "He's got friends on the other side....." :teehee: The voodoo scenes I thought were amazingly creative.[/color]

Ye gads, the Shadowman and his shadows were super creepy. But AWESOME.

I think the whole turning from "damsel in distress" movies is because all the female rights people will get on your back so quickly if you try to not. It's so irritating. But to make money, you kind of have to now.

I'm hoping we get more info on Tangled. This is really the first bits I've heard of it, besides stuff from like two years ago that really has been changed around. I'm so biased because it's Zach Levi that I want it to be good and do well. :P The way it's going I'll most likely see it.
