A couple Depp articles I've read recently said they were definently doing a 4th. I think it's pretty official that they will, just a question of when. Last I heard they were still planning for 2010 though. Haven't heard anything about 2011.

lol, I guess I'm still different from everyone else. I would prefer they didn't do a 4th Pirates. I'm afraid it's just going to be hacked together at this point. I mean, at least the same people who were on board CotBP were also on board DMC and AWE (for the most part). With this new movie... well, a lot of them won't be. Not only actors but I've also heard behind the scenes people and the director ect won't be. And I guess when it comes down to it, whether you love them or hate them, Pirates isn't Pirates without Will, Elizabeth, Governor Swann, Norrie or any of those people... even Beckett and Jones (though they weren't in CotBP) have sorta become part of what Pirates should be. It just feels wrong not to have them.  Not to mention, I'm not a big Jack fan so... well, I dunno if Barbossa alone could pull it off for me. Meh. We'll see. If it has an epic trailer/storyline it might be ok. You never know, I guess.

^Well, I can definitely understand that logic, as a lot of the actors and crewmembers helped to make <i>Pirates</i> what it is now, but then again with new people coming on the project, it could open up a lot more doors... I mean, after CotBP I thought they couldn't get any better... naturally I was worried when they announced a sequel [because Disney sequels are usually bleh] but now DMC is my favorite of the series thusfar.  But you're right about it not being the same - after three movies, it'll be hard not seeing Will or Norrie about. Then again, their stories were wrapped up in AWE and other characters could use a chance to tell their own tales. [Personally I think it'd be epic to do something like retelling CotBP, DMC & AWE through other character's eyes (sorta like we do in the roleplays) and branch off with their own little adventures]. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.  I think Johnny is wonderfully entertaining, albeit Jack is not my first and foremost favorite charrie. 
You could say I've got really mixed opinions about it... but I'm trying to keep positive and not judge a book by its cover so to speak.  So, either way I'll still see it if/when it premieres and give my opinions at that time.
