This movie looks like it's going to be pretty cool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUQbmFAE5WI

Robert Downey Jr. was awesome as Tony Stark/Ironman and I think he's going to be great as Holmes. I'm really looking forward to this.

Is anyone else excited?

As long as that's not a Holmes romance I see in the trailer, I'm excited. They actually went back to the stories and made them as they should be (as far as I can tell) which should make it pretty amazing.

I think RDJ with do an AMAZING job. He is a very talented actor, and he looks great as the scruffy Holmes. And Watson also looks good [even though JL doesn't wash his hair]. But over all it looks really good. it's coming out on Christmas day, which I think is a silly idea.

I saw the ads to this in theater and all I could think was: MUST. FREAKING. WATCH.

It dosen't seem like its going to be romance Darky. Dark, comedic, amazing action movie sounds more like it. Im not going to see it on opening day, but maybe after New Year...

I'm not sure, but probably not. I like the Holmes stories for their mystery and suspense, but from the trailer they seem to have turn him into an action hero, which is very galling. But don't mind me... I'm wary of any Holmes film that doesn't stick exactly to the Canon. :)

I have to give them props, though, for shying away from the stereotypes that don't appear in the Canon, like the deerstalker hat, inverse cape, and curved-stem pipe. Also, RDJ is a great actor, and his take on Holmes might be interesting. I also read he studied Jeremy Brett's performance (who was and still is the best Holmes. Ever.) from the 80's TV series in preparation for the role, which earns him brownie points from me, at least. :P

I'm all with you on that one. Holms may have a couple action sequences, but not very often---it's definitely huge on the mystery and suspense. I think any Holmes film should camp on those aspects.
YES! Those non-canonical stereotypes are just plain old annoying! I'm also glad they got rid of them

They made it just Irene Adler and perfect! It made me so happy.

Anywho, I thought we ought to give this thread a revive so that we don't crowd the Chameleon club with Sherlock squee, right Skitty? :teehee: As brilliant as RDJ was as Holmes, I have to say that Watson was my scene stealer. He was just amazing the entire movie, I loved him.

RDJ and Jude were both great. I think the only one I didn't think was amazing was Rachel McAdams, but I never do like the lead females, so... :P

And I made about 5 or 6 banners today, more probably on the way. Anyone up for a claim? 8D

Um, you can just toss those this way.

I guess I haven't seen Rachel McAdams in anything before, because I was surprised at how high pitched her voice was. It threw me off. A lot. I thought she was pretty good at it though. She didn't act like she was madly in love with Holmes, she just acted like she cared about him but crime was her first choice. Which made for a happy Nurr. I always liked the story about her, and how Holmes refers to her as the woman.

Oh, so I got a hardback complete stores of Holmes plus Hound of the Baskervilles a few weeks ago, and have been reading through it. And one of the stories I was quoting to Mom and saying how awesome it would be if they actually read that part and put it in the movie. I quote:
Quote:
But with me there is a limit, and when I find a man who keeps his cigars in the coal-scuttle, his tobacco in the toe end of a Persian slipper, and his unanswered correspondence transfixed by a jack-knife into the very centre of his wooden mantlepiece, then I begin to give myself virtuous airs. I have always held, too, that pistol practice should distinctly be an open-air pastime; and when Holmes in one of his queer humours would sit in an arm-chair, with his hair-trigger and a hundred Boxer cartridges, and proceed to adorn the opposite wall with a patriotic V.R. done in bullet-pocks, I felt strongly that neither the atmosphere nor the appearance of our room was improved by it.

I wanted to applaud at that part in the movie.

SUCH a good movie. :) RDJ and Jude Law were fantastic together. What a great team. I admit, the entire feel of the story and the movie in general didn't come across as very "classic Holmes", but the story was intriguing and the antagonist kept me interest. I had no idea that Mark Strong was Septimus in Stardust. JF should be happy about that. :P Anyway, great movie, and I can't wait for the sequel!

Her nose bounced when she talked. Once I noticed that I couldn't UN-notice it, and that really didn't help matters. Anyway, she wasn't bad, she was just my least favorite, yanno? :P I think it was also the scene where she's walking through the filthy streets with that hot pink dress on, and I was all  because you'd think you'd want to keep a dress like that clean. I would, anyway.

I am so epically excited to see this movie next weekend. I've been in Europe for the last two weeks, and I must say that I have been squeeing about it for MONTHS so I am psyched.
So glad to hear good things about it from you guys though :)
