Violet glanced down at TT. "Um, yeah. I mean, I was. It might be...interesting..."

PD giggled at TT’s response (which she could have predicted from a mile away). “Okay, okay, I'm sorry.”
PD, after waiting for Fuschia (she wouldn’t be leading them into the dark attic all alone. Oh no! She was going to have someone to defend herself with! She wasn't stupid afterall), began the procession up the staircase. “what the…?” PD stopped as Kit whizzed past them. “Huh?” she looked at the others, confused. "Okaaayyyyy..." She turned back to TT who seemed planted on the staircase. "Aww, come on, TT! Look! Kit's already up there! If there were any eyeballs (or other things) up there they would've gotten Kit. See?"

Dang it! I fell behind again! Holly scurried up the stairs after the others." Maybe the eyeballs are loyal to Kit?" she panted.
[Out for about 10 hours or so... night peoples!]

[That is so creepy, I don't even know what to say to that.]

[you know it's true Kit.... you just like the idea he's sooo tall and strong.... ]
[yep, I'm making a biggie post, but it bears no interest to the Hallowfest so you can skip it]
The Horseman knew he had made a big mistake.
A very big mistake.
He prided himself on the fact that he very, very rarely drank, and the amount of times he had drank to the point of drunkeness... well he could count on one hand.
Until last night, then his count continued onto his other hand.
Gingerly he opened his.. er.. *ahem* ... for he had felt the sun on his er..*ahem* which had disturbed him from his sleep. "Blast it" he muttered to himself. He always hated it when he failed to shut the curtains properly before retiring, as the sun always disturbed him the next day.
"Ohh" he groaned. "Why, oh why, oh why" he asked himself. "Why are you such a clot Algie? ..that's not entirely true Algie...Why did you decide to have a drink? .. because it looked nice...Why did you have the second drink? .. beause it tasted nice....And the third drink? ...it felt nice... The fourth? ...well by that point Algie old boy, I was hardly in the position to feel or taste much at all...."
This argument with himself continued for some minutes.
"Ooooooh" he groaned again. "My head is splitting, my back is sore, my stomach feels I've had a 2 ton pumpkin resting on it all night...." The Horseman said as he gingerly felt his stomach.
"That's odd" he said. "I feel smooth... and cold"... he looked down and let out an almighty yelp.
"AAAARGH" he said, as he saw he had a 2 ton pumpkin resting on his stomach. He jolted into an upright position as the pumpkin rolled off him and fell onto the..... "FLOOR!" yelled The Horseman as he gazed with horror as the pumpkin failed to fall a few feet onto the wooden floorboards of his room, but actually 60ft through various dead branches, until it made contact with the grass below with an ear splitting, gut-renching crunch that smashed the poor innocent pumpkin into various pieces and spewed its innards far and wide.
"Oh....my...word" The Horseman silently mouthed as he looked at the carnage below, whilst holding onto the tree trunk for dear life. In the distance he could see the mansion.
It came back to him in a flash.
He had been there, minding his own business drinking an excellent vintage of port he had found. He really couldn't bear to be in a roomful of hysterical females debating about another murder.. "we men are above such things" he said with a smug smile-that-was-there-but-nobody-could-see-it. And then he got to thinking about his ancestors and all the challenges they had faced... and the dangers. And it suddenly occured to him, nothing very exciting had ever really happened in his life. He had faced no mortal danger. "Not like Great-Uncle Cecil" he said glumly. "All those wars he fought at sea, all those ships he club-hauled and boarded. All that gold he stole. Now there was a true fearless man" he finished as he downed another glass of port. "Still (hic), he had all the chances of having (hic) a daring adventure. I would have (hic) liked to have sailed the (hic) sigh seas and rescued fair (hic) maidens and found (hic) treasure" he conluded, as he threw another glassful down his neck.
"By golly" he said as he stood up and wobbled over to the window. "Look at that there mast Eliza" he motioned to a vase of flowers on a nearby table. "It's the biggest mast I have ever seen. Look at the size of the ship" as he gazed upon a huge oak tree. "Just what I needed" he said. "It is about time I had a bit of adventure".
He walked to a mirror hanging on the wall and began to straighten his cravat. "I do wish this place would keep still, everything keeps rocking. Oh, well at least it proves I have my sea legs" as he finished tidying his cravat and stumbled through the door.
"Ah-ha" he said as he noticed a fine sabre with a large hilt, on the wall. "Perfect" and he grabbed it and proceeded out the front door and up the hill until he reached the tree. "For glory and adventure!" he shouted as he brandished his sword in the air......
Still clinging to the tree for dear life, The Horseman contemplated his options. Jumping? Too messy. Waiting for help? He wasn't sure he could wait too long... he had drunk a lot of liquids last night. Climbing down? "Er..hmm... not too sure about that" whispered The Horseman getting paler and paler by the minute.
Just then he felt a tickle on his neck. In a rash moment, his right hand left the tree trunk to see what was causing the ticking. "It's only a leaf" he sighed as he brushed it away. His sigh turned into a yell as his left foot twisted slightly sending him hurtling down towards the ground. Just then he suddenly stopped plummeting, as he noticed in all his flailings, the hilt of his sword had speared a branch. "Ah" he sighed. The branch cracked and then split and both he, the branch and sword continued on their journey downwards. "This is it" thought The Horseman as he was being battered by branches and falling twigs. "This is how the line ends with me falling out of a tree that I don't even remember how I climbed". He shut his eyes waiting for the final thud. Instead he heard an almighty RIIIIIIIP and he was jolted upwards. He looked above him and saw his beautiful cloak had caught onto another branch and had stopped his fall. Looking down he noticed that he had not far to go. "I can jump that he said".
He wriggled, but the cloak held. He bounced up and down. But the cloak held. He tugged, and grasped and kicked and struggled. But the cloak held. "Well bother and fiddlesticks" he said as he haughtily folded his arms and tried to stamp his foot. The cloak failed to hold.
FLUMP! The Horseman landed on the ground with a resounding ..er..flumop. Right on top of the poor innocent pumpkin whose life had been tragically lost earlier. "I'm alive! cried The Horseman as he stood up, tripped over his torn cloak and landed face first in the pumpkin guts.
......................
The Horseman appeared in the dining room, with scratched hands, tattered cloak, an untied cravat, pumpkin seeds all over him and twigs sticking out of everywhere possible. An old birds nest was where his head should have been.
Commanding what little dignity he had left, The Horseman strode past the other guests, offered a curt "good evening" and retired to his chamber to change.

[lol, JF... that was a blast to read through]
"WILL YOU ALL STOP TALKING ABOUT EYEBALLS. PLEASE." TT yelled from her position on the stairs. She paused for a minute, then stood up. "Alright. I'll come up." Dusting herself off, she began muttering to herself. "Stupid eyeballs... why do people have to bring such things up in a creepy mansion with a killer at large?... if anyone had any sense, we'd all be down in the Hall, but nooo... we gotta go exploring... just wait till eyeballs fall from the ceiling, or all of us get murdered. Then whose fault will it be? Not mine, I can assure you. Whose brilliant idea was this anywas? ... the atic indeed!"
TT stopped her insane ramblings and complaints when she came alongside PD, Violet, and Holly. "You first", she smiled slightly. "Make sure there's nothing creepy in there..."
[off to bed. g'night, all. ]

Nurr let off a small moaning noise. "OOOHHHNNNNNNUUUU......MMMMWWWWUUUUUUGGGG..." It grew in intensity. Then, just as she was loudest, (and most definitely not invisible anymore), Nurr reached her hand through the wall until it was inches from PD's face. The rest of her, fortunately, was still hidden behind the wall. It wouldn't do for them to actually see her smiling.

[Oh my goodness gracious me, that was the funniest post EVER... the poor pumpkin]
Holly reached the top of the stairs and looked around. Nothing there except... "Ahhh! PD! In front of you!" The elf screamed and lept for cover behind a convenient ficus tree. Deciding that it wasn't worth the scare, the LEP officer skedaddled back down the stairs and into her room, where she locked herself in and buried herself in her blankets, hopefully to get a good night's rest.
[now I really am dissappearing for the evening, night all!]

Maeve stared with wide eyes as the poor Headless Horseman strode past everyone looking quite the worse for wear. She was about to inquire about what happened, but he disappeared from view just as quickly as he appeared. She shrugged and made a mental note of perhaps writing a poem about him later. She stole upstairs toward the attic where a commotion could be heard. Just as she entered the gloomy room, Nurr popped out of the wall and several people cried out at once.

((Okay, I'm finally home from being out of town. Now maybe I can keep up.))
Susy Q. had been in her quarters reading a book when she heard the group of explorers go by. She poked her head out and upon hearing they were heading up to the attic she called out "Wait for me!" and headed to join them.

Morfinneth heard a small moaning sound. She looked up as a ghostly hand came through the wall near to PD's face. Her mother had appeared to be having fun being a ghost. Morfinneth laughed lightly. Her husband, who was sitting beside her placed on hand on her shoulder. "Feeling better now love?" he said.

Lydia watched as the body was removed by the servants and taken to its designated final resting place. Not that it really mattered. She was still in shock over another ghost in the house. Of course the new ghost was infinitely less intimidating than Betelgeuse, but still...it wasn't a very common occurrence for most people. She was pretty okay with it, but still...what a coincidence.
Her mind's reverie was broken when the door to the room shut with a loud clack. It registered that she was now left, for the most part, alone by all the guests and she frowned. She guessed she wouldn't really be acknowledged here either. At school they ignored her for being weird, but now she guessed she just blended into the surroundings. Her eyes caught sight of Lady Macbeth and she offered a smile.
"Some start to the party right?" She asked with a small laugh and then amended her manner to something more straight laced. "My name's Lydia. How about you?"
----------------------------------
Betelgeuse slipped away from his living counterpart fairly satisfied that she wouldn't go putting him back in the mirror. After all, he had a new ghost to mess with. The poltergeist cackled and it echoed eerily about the rooms. He clicked his fingers and his body was invisible to any eye.
Now to find the newest addition to the after life. He grinned and straightened his blonde hair, cuffs and the bottom of his jacket.
He found Nurr without trouble. What was it with newbies and the moaning trick? He rolled his eyes and appeared next to the woman in all his black striped, pudgy, moss covered glory.
"Hey babes," he said with a smarmy grin. "What's say you and I break in that new coffin of yours," he said with a waggle of his eyebrows before letting his eyes wonder in a ridiculous fashion over Nurr's less than real body.

Mist hurriedly finished her last cup of tea so that she could join the others in the attic. As she neared the stairs, she turned back just in time to see the Headless Horseman in all his tattered glory. She sighed and shook her head, and then mounted the stairs, two at a time. Suddenly the sound of cackling somewhat closer was heard, and Mist frowned. Who was that?
She could hear voices from above, some fearful, some not. As she neared, she was able to see the group. "I hope I'm not too late," she said, softly lest she interrupt.

Fragile heard the noise of explorers venturing up towards the attic, and her curiosity was sparked. She hurried up the steps behind Mist, joining what was now a rather large crowd at the doorway to the attic. She arrived just in time to see a hand suddenly slip through the wall. Fragile gasped, but then stifled the reaction. She hadn't seen Nurr's ghost before, but she'd heard rumors of such a thing existing. She might have to just get used to things like this.
That would definitely take some work.

Fuschia clambered into the attic easily, and grinned at PD, "Hey, sorry, spaced. Did I miss anything? Did you find anything interesting at least?" She glanced at the crate, "Wow. A Crate."
