I was just curious to see if anyone else was really looking forward to this movie coming out?! I'm soo excited for it. I'm going opening day to see it with my best friend, and I can't wait. It should be a blast!

Oooh yes, when I saw the awesome preview and realised that Sam Worthington was in it (:P) I naturally decided that I had to see it. Can't wait. ^^

I know! I saw the trailer for it before Thanksgiving, and immediately looked it up. Then again, it has both amazing looking action and romance. What's not to like?

The movie was good! However, since I don't wish to ruin it for anyone I will refrain from details. I do wish the characters hadn't cussed sooo much, but I still enjoyed myself.

It was EPIC. I wanna go see it again, right now. Just knowing how it was filmed and how it looks reduces me to an awesome-induced melted puddle of myself. (that made absolutely no sense... >.<)

I saw Avatar last night! I agree with Freya: It was EPIC!!!
James Cameron never disappoints. I am a nature lover so I really connected with the Na'vi.
The visuals in the movie were absolutely stunning! I would definitely recommend it and I would love to go and see it again!

Wow.. the visuals were absolutely stunningly awesome... I wonder how they made all that.. Like is everything CGI or did the actors dress up in blue for some of the close-ups? It must be so hard to be an actor in a world that is not really there in front of you...
And the language? I loved the sound of it.. does anyone know where I can read more about it, like how they came up with it, and whether it's based on already existing languages? Found very little on it when googling it...
But... there is a but... seriously, where was the plot? What's was up with female pilot who appears in the beginning and all of a sudden and with no apparent reason changes sides... and all the bad guys were .. well, bad.. but very unbelievable characters. Excuse me Mr. Cameron, but I just can't take a guy serious who only has lines like "They are just a bunch of indigenous, blow them up." I mean I realise that you're trying to make a point, but a little more depth, please.

*rotflol* That comment made my day!
I can't comment on the movie. By seeing the trailer only, I already decided that it just didn't appeal to me. Blue creatures and flying spaceships. Just not my cup of tea. So I couldn't really say whether I cagree with you or not Aer

I just saw it. It turned out to be exactly what I expected it to be. Fantastic scenery, mostly predictable story. I was really hoping that to cause all the buzz it was going to be... just a better movie I suppose! But other than the effects, I really don't think it was a stand-out film.
The effects, though, were very, very amazing. The people at Weta really are geniuses. (As if we didn't know that before! ) The landscapes were just and the creatures were very neat. Is it not surprising then, that the best part was scene when he learns to fly?
@ Aerlinn... I think that's true to a certain extent. To me, it's apparent in the figure: long and tall with tiny thighs with even tinier waist! The Na'vi were the most disappointing part about the whole movie to me, because they were far too human. Put aside the blue, the ears, and the tail, and they were almost exactly like the Native Americans. It really did make the whole thing seem like a futuristic re-telling of Dances with Wolves or Pocahontas.

Oh, I agree very much with Taurquende. I don't think I would have seen the movie if my friend hadn't taken me. I'm glad she did though. Like I said, the visuals were A M A Z I N G, I've never seen anything like it. I wanted to stay longer and just go about and explore Pandora, the creativity, the colours, all so vivid and alive! Unbelievable.
Aerlinn:: You're really mad, aren't you! I never heard any of James Cameron's statements or interviews. The way you quote him does sound like he's.. umm.. being very silly. Still I was unaware of that when I saw the movie, furthermore, I was perfectly capable of distracting myself from the fact that the story.. well, could have been ... there, all because of the stunning effects!

Does 3-D really help it though? If 3-D is critical to it looking good, then how much will it lose when it's viewed at home on DVD?
My experience so far of 3-D is that it's really quite useless and painful gimmick (if you have to wear glasses over glasses).
And it was like Titanic again at the Golden Globes last night I se. Hopefully with the Academy allowing 10 films to be nominated for Best Picture, the votes will be split, so maybe it won't win anything there.

Wow...I was beginning to think I was the only person in the entire world that had zero interest in seeing this.
I was quite looking forward to it initially. I like most of James Camerons' movies (Titanic being the exception) so I had high hopes. Then I started to read reports, see pics and then the trailers and clips and my heart sank. My interest took a heavy nose dive. I just think it looks effing stupid....and I'm as big a Sci-Fi geek as yer ever likely to meet.
I'm glad I'm stuck for cash so have to be picky about what I buy, or else I'd have been dragged to see this by my OH. Meh I'd rather see Sherlock Holmes.
