@JF: This is M. Night's first series where he didn't write the script himself, so it should be interesting how he takes the story and what decides to leave in and what he wants to take out. Because as it is, you're putting 20 episodes into 2 hours. And if it's not already evident from my description before, this fantasy world is rather complicated. And what do you mean by the Avatar messed up ? lol
@Ea: I'm glad that helped. And I'm with you, I rather like having someone discuss it with me instead of throwing a link at me that gives you daunting information when all you really want is the basic idea of it. It's like asking someone what their career is and they give you a giant career manual. To my knowledge, there aren't actual books that follow the television series, although it wouldn't surprise me if there were some hereafter once the movie is released.
As I said, I highly recommend the original cartoon series. I'm helping my friend work through it right now because I have the DVDs (a mite illegal, but hey, I am _not_ made out of money, I assure you), and she's a terrible decision maker so whenever we get together and can't decide what to agree on to do, I sit her down and decide we are watching the series. She's at the very end of Book 2 currently and hope to get her finished with Book 3 by the end of March.

It was actually a joint mistake from the previous Avatar and the present Avatar. It's complicated. And you have to watch the series to understand what went down.
The story is that his daughter loved the show and sat the entire family down and INSISTED that they watch it and eventually, they all fell in love with it and he had the idea to make it into a movie and his wife encouraged him saying, "This is it. This is the one."

Exactly, and it's a lot more interesting when people explain things in their own words.
I'm very disappointed there is no books... and yeah, I may seem reluctant to watch the entire tv-series but I'm prone to fall for the movie-hype. The plot is interesting and original and I like the trailer so far, lthough... that kid... he's just a kid, right? It does seem a bit unlikely that he alone can fight all those baddies....

You really should try to watch the show. Not only will you just fall in love with it's awesome but you'll see just how a 12 year old boy 'fight all the baddies'

It's plenty more personable coming from a person, because they add their own little opinion into their explanation I think. What they include in their explanation tends to be more important for them than the other things. Or things they like to avoid altogether.
It actually doesn't take all that long to go through the series. But I suppose you have to have the interest in it. When I first watching it, I came into the near end of Book 2 and I was so involved that I just HAD to go back and watch it. Not soon after, I was all caught up and STILL waiting for Book 3 to be aired and it was probably one of the longer waits in my life for a television series.
Interestingly enough, the things Nienor and I planned to do (with the company of her brother, Radagast) when we first met up was to sit down and watch the latest airing of Avatar, which was an earlier episode of Book 3 and we enjoyed that immensely!
First and foremost, I must press on actually watching the series. However, if you truly don't see it happening and would like to ask further questions about the series, I would be happy to answer them as concise as I can if you don't mind spoilers at all.
And yes, he really is a kid. In the series, he's 12 years old, but I do believe the actor playing him is 10 or 11. Aang is 12 years old, but by all technicality and having being stuck in an iceberg for 100 years, he's really 112.
He's a pretty old kid.
And I totally reiterate what Raivynn says. You would fall in love with its awesomeness. xD

Then hit me... I'm ready to fall.
Can I stream the immaculate series somewhere on the awsome world wide web?

NinjaVideo is the first site I think of, but the site has a few quirks such as DivX webplayer and such and such.
Watch Avatar Online seems like a shady site, but it's actually legit. However, videos are generally hosted by MEGAVIDEO which means they like to slap you with a minutes watched limit.
Instantz - Avatar: The Last Airbender is generally with its videos being hosted by VEOH, but it looks like they've all been cut---but there are the alternative links.
If ever the desperate need to download the episodes though (they are, after all, only a half hour each - really 23 minutes without commercials), a good site would be: sweetangel1927.tk (it's a legit site, and it's a really good one too)

- I watch most of my animes on here.

Thanks, but I couldn't make any of them work for me.
I mean, I know it's me, but seriously, how hard can it be?!

Strange, Ea. Perhaps it's an country thing, like for youtube, they don't like to work for certain countries.

I was thinking that as well... might be it.. but very strange that none of the sites worked for me. Freya's and Aranel's links came closest to working and I think I actually saw the first minute of the first episode but it was too glitchy.

None of the sites worked at all? Not even the last one where you could download? That's really your sure bet.
