Hmm the pictures didn't work for me... but it's alright, the movie premieres here on Thursday, so the wait is bearable!

How come the movie opened in London yesterday? Not fair... I thought the world premiere was Wednesday-Thursday next week. *pout*

@ Ea... Oh, that's so exciting your going opening day! My sister and I are planning to see it together when she visits, but that's not until next week! I wish I could go to the midnight showing. I have this idea that it would be fun to dress up like the Cheshire cat. :teehee:

@ Aerlinn... Actually, I think he's totally chucked the story out and started fresh. I understand it's sort of a sequel that takes place after her original adventures, although still containing direct quotes and characters from the book.
Oo, I found a clip of that Alice on YouTube. It might not be so disturbing if it weren't for the somewhat violent sound effects! :P Still, it was really neat and very well done.

The more I hear about this movie the more excited I get. :bounce: I decided to sit down and read Through the Looking Glass for the first time and I loved it even more than the original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. It seriously made me want to go through a chess set and start talking to all the pieces. :boing: I'm glad they seem to have included at lot of it in this movie.

Taur:: Actually, I'm not going to the premiere. There is a midnight showing on Wednesday at 11.59 pm. but it's a 3D showing and I prefer to watch it without. So I'm going Thusday night, and during the day there are a couple of showings so I doubt anyone will dress up when I go.

By the way, I don't like that the trailer seems to show the Cheshire cat having a body, it's only supposed to have a head!!

Yeah, it does look like the movie has some of the chess layout and symbology, I didn't really think of that, it's been a while since I read The Looking Glass. Do you think Tim Burton has borrowed from both books?

ONLY THREE DAYS!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!! :P

YAY I saw it last night! I loved it (because I had vowed to love it no matter what! :teehee:)

I'm sure there are things that would have made me love it more.. but it was alright and did almost fulfil my sky high expectations. :-)
However, there were some pretty disturbing scenes including eyeballs... I wasn't keen on the idea of this being a Disney movie but at least I counted on calm scenes for my sensitive nerves. Eww, I had to look away in one particular scene... What can I say, eyes are just my weak spot...

I watched the 2D version which was nice because I wanted to pay attention to the plot and all but I think I need to see it in 3D too. It looked too amazing to not see the third dimension.

I can't wait for all of you to see it and come back here and talk about it! Hurry, hurry! You're terribly late, you know. Naughty! :P

I just came back from seeing it, also in 2D. I absolutely LOVED it. Never read the books though.

I'm such a fan of the Burton/Depp/Bonham Carter/Elfman team. They just can't do wrong in my book.

True, very true, they're the dream team from Hell - and that's is supposed to be a positive statement. :P

I've read both books and even though I never was a fan of them there are so many things for one's imagination to play around with. This entire world of Underland comes to life and lives in the imagination of the reader so of course I had expectations and context and images in my head before seeing it, but Burton did do a great job on his version of Underland. :)

But... what I never figured out and was a slightly annoying me was when the Mad Hatter went all Scottish. WHY??? Seriously what happened??

SAME HERE! If anything ever happened to my eyes I would just want to die right then and there. I could not stand those scenes and felt like I was going to throw up my popcorn and Coca-Cola Icee. I honestly didn't think those bits were necessary, especially for people like us. Plus, there were a lot of kids at the theatre I went to.

Overall it was really good [despite the eye scenes] and I have to say that Anne Hathaway/The White Queen was my favorite character - yes, even over the Mad Hatter! I felt she did an amazing job and was extremely sweet - how could you not like her??? Plus, I loved all of the cherry blossom trees around her castle. Can't wait till the screen shots are put out so I can make some banners. <3

It was a bit disappointing as everyone said - but I thought it was good nevertheless - the only character I didn't really like was the Mouse because she liked poking eyes out, but everyone else was good. :P

What, people are disappointed with it?

Haven't seen it yet, will probably go within the next week or so.

The bits that are being mentioned... well I'll have to see how I feel. I'm not a squeamish person (although I did NOT like hearing/seeingh Mrs. Lovett getting set on fire, that was so unnecessary in my opinion and it didn't help because she was my favourite character), so I'm curious as to what that was all about.

So... generally was it not as good as y'all expected or... ?

I didn't think the eye thing was squeamish at all, JF.

The sudden and random Scottish accent was actually intentional. Burton and Depp explained it in some interview. Can't remember what they said but it made sense when they said it, haha.

I am actually looking forward to seeing it actually. :teehee:

That kinda sounds like the sort of thing the Mad Hatter would do anyway, with or without a reason. He is mad afterall. :P

Right and it's almost as if he has a wee split-personality disorder - which works splendidly.

Also, some people have been complaining that he looks too much like a clown, but the orange hair is supposed to be all the mercury the Mad Hatter has been exposed to in his life as a hatter. Something Johnny Depp apparently added to the character all on his own.

It never actually occurred to me that he might resemble a clown. He doesn't look like any clown I've seen anyway. :teehee: I think people might be nit-picking here.

Just got back from seeing it in 2D. I missed the first 5 min though. I never read any of the books, and only remember snipets from the cartoon movie. So going in I didnt know what to expect, and was just looking forward to seeing Johnny Depp as Hatter(the tea party is one of the scenes I did remember).

But I thought it was awesome. I liked Alice's armor near the end and more than a few times almost expected Hatter to kiss Alice a few times. Hatter did not disipoint me, for he is mad, as he should be, lol.

Aw, I'm sad people are sort of disappointed with it. Perhaps I should scale back my massively huge expectations. :P
